BBC Scotland have just been in touch with me as are doing a feature interview with former Scotland manager Craig Brown. They filmed a lengthy interview with Craig back in December, in which he shared some lovely memories and stories. He spoke very fondly of his time as part of Hammy and The Hamsters. So the Beeb have asked me for a copy of my record which I have duly obliged, might get a credit on the programme somewhere, maybe in the rolling credits at the end ;)
This band was formed by a bunch of football players in the early 60's and they supported The Beatles when they came to Dundee!- https://www.thecouri…Gardener
- That's awesome!
I've played on that same stage.
Played a gig at The Caird Hall in the late 90s with Indie band I was bass for.microkorg - It was on a Saturday. Guitarist & Singer were at Glasto on the Friday, drove up to JUST make it to the gig (backup plan was I was going to have to sing if theymicrokorg
- didn't make it!) we played the gig. Enormous fun. Some teen flashed her tits to the singer. Then guitarist & singer got in the car after and drove back tomicrokorg

I happened to hear the 1992 song "Waiting for Magic" by Ace of Base. At that time my English was not so good. Today I hear the lyrics and first I have to puke, then I laugh and afterwards I think: What the fuck, the lyrics are 30 years later as up-to-date as never before.
There are so many young women out there who dream of being saved by a prince. The princess thing is so big and so antithetical to the woken zeitgeist of emancipation and advancement.
A Snow White fairy tale as a dance floor song. So quirky and to the point.
- Fuck that's banging. GOing toi listen to the rest of the album now - thirty fucking years since I last did, haha.Nairn
- "Fun" fact: when this album was recording, one of the guys was also in a Nazi band.garbage
- Cute lyrics like "Men in white hoods march down the road, we enjoy ourselves when we're sawing off n-----s’ heads / Immigrant, we hate you! Out, out, out, out!"garbage
- So yeah, um.. fuck Ace of Base.garbage

Had to renew my passport at the central police station. I visit downtown area only if I have to. Last time I was there some street beggars asked me if I had any drugs to sell
Anyway I planned my trip very carefully to arrive exactly 10 min before my appointment. Somehow I showed up 50 min too early, went outside to kill some time
There was an outdoor theatre in the park nearby and I joined to watch. The play was about some kids who kept getting lost and then they found each other again, I have no idea what was going on
The play ends, everyone gets up to leave and I realize the play was for kids with special needs and I stick out like a soar thumb (or do I? no one paid to me any attention, though)
I keep on walking and see a collection of street vendors. One of them is selling red beach towels. I wanted to buy one and wrap myself in it immediately, but then I see that it's all some kind of pride themed merchandise. This trip almost ended in a disaster
Renewed my passport and reacquainted with some parts of the city. This part of town used to be a container terminal. I hate the building on the left (Munch Museum), but what the heck is that Mad Max theme park in the middle? What do you guys think
- I think you need friends.canoe
- Friends are nice to have, as long as I dont have to meet themdrgs
- What happened to the old Munch Museum? I've not been to Oslo in 15 years, looks so different now .thumb_screws
- The old Munch Museum still exists, used as a gallery for local artists.
There has been massive development in what used to be an industrial areadrgs - I like parts of it https://www.mvrdv.co…drgs

I hung the TV on the wall so now we can get rid of the Ikea lump that used to hold it up. But I don't know if I'm ready to get rid of the DVDs that were stored inside.

COVID kind of kicked my ass in terms of what I have to show for myself portfolio-wise. Everything w/my existing major clients shifted. Some of my restaurant clients revamped their menus / overall strategy to suit their needs during the pandemic but in doing so much of the creativity / focus on beautiful promo work etc turned into visually clinical shit / social distancing signage etc etc. Most of the websites got stripped down to nothing. My other major group of clients were event companies. Music and Food festivals etc... they all used to have 'fun' websites that fit the current trends / needs for the client but that shit all disappeared of course with COVID. Those two type of clients were basically my primary work for years before the pandemic... outside of that I have a shitload of 'good' banner work I have done for various agencies... but that's kind of it. :/ The last 4 years of work is pretty much crap... and everything before that is somewhat dated already.
I'm about to have a new portfolio... I've gone the extra mile (kilometer) and have built a fairly respectable website in terms of it being pretty / using some smooth JS, possible openGL stuff... but I'm realizing it's all kind of dumb as I build this cuz the work I'm going to fill it with is subpar or below... It's like having a brand new fancy refrigerator (stainless steal... the works) but all I have is half a carton of old eggs and a can of Diet Pepsi in there.
- string up the carton, eggs, and dr pepper so that they move when you open the door. https://www.youtube.…imbecile
- *diet pepsiimbecile
- Pony, how do you like working for restaurants? I love the work, but sometimes find the clients difficult. I guess it's about picking the right clients.canoe
- Restaurants were solid clients pre-pandemic... all of them have slowed way down / now do more in-house to save money. Nowadays I'm more of repairman to them.PonyBoy

I was looking for somewhere to put a load of Beatles albums which had no sleeves and opened up a record box to find I had put this old tour poster by the band Faust when they played their first night of a short tour in Milton Keynes at a leisure centre. It was shocking that there was less than 20 people there, I guess MK wasn't aware of the greatness of the band 20 years ago (maybe not even now, I wouldn't be surprised)
Apart from an amazing show which featured one song that had angle grinders sparking away on railway sleepers was that as there were so few folks there the band came to the bar afterwards and sat with myself and a couple of friends and bought us all a couple of rounds of drinks - which probably cost what they were being paid that night! They signed CD's and this poster for me and what a lovely bunch of guys they were, happy memories.

Just curious. Is dying alone a bad thing?
- We all die alone.futurefood
- Dying is a bad thingOBBTKN
- bad is relativepango
- bad relatives dyingfaxion
- try it and report back.shapesalad
- I think so yes, a terrible way to die with no loved ones around you, or to remember you.monospaced
- I've died 3 times; first 2 alone, 3rd time at a party. I liked the alone experience better. just my 2 cents.Krassy
- Depends on the life you've led. Like future said, we are all truly alone at the point of death. Truly dying alone is a different thing.garbage
- You can have a family, friends, pets, etc and still spend a decade dying alone.garbage
- If you've been content on not having meaningful relationships up until this point in your life, then prob not.canoe
- Guess it depends on the situation, are you ready to die? Are you scared. I was there for my partner, talking about the things we did together, how I wouldNutter
- always look back on our time, and try to look out for the rest of the family. Did it help? I don't know, but I hope so.Nutter

Got another hospital statement about my partner that died there 8 months ago due to what I think were negligence on their part. They of course do not think so.
Every time I read one of their statements I get a tremendous headache and become just so tired. Doubt anything will come out of it in the end, but also can't just let it go.
- What does your lawyer make of it?i_monk
- Here in Denmark everything is handled by a a state hospital complaint system. They don't comment on what they think however.Nutter
- Never give up, it's what they want, if you're sure of theor negligence, look for a good lawyer... And go for it!OBBTKN

what a load of self indulgent wank.
on the bright side at least i helped support my local cinema
- Our local cinema has a beautifully-drawn chalkboard advertising it, but.. no. I loved Tenebaums and Aquatic but find most else of his tedious and insufferableNairn

just sorting through some old gig programmes in the garage and came across this one from 1979. This was my 1st festival - 2 of the headliners were dropped and 1 changed ON THE NIGHT! Believe me it was pretty upsetting to have the fucking Scorpions on instead of Thin Lizzy but worse was to come on the Sunday night when The Ramones, who were my main reason for going going in the first place pulled out at the last minute to be replaced by Nils Lofgren!
Don't start with the "ahh, oh dear" shit as I am probably still not over the upset that caused me over 30 years ago... however Cheap Trick, The Cure, Peter Gabriel and Motorhead made up for it, a bit.

I hate music festivals.
- Why are we not surprised?palimpsest
- womad? maybe stop going.Fax_Benson
- Perhaps instead of being surprised, you can be accepting of diversity. Not everyone wants to be a sheep baaaaahing at a festival puffing on a jazz cigar.shapesalad

I just an a call from the organiser for the Jam For Freedom Festival held in Essex in early August saying he loved my mixes on Mixcloud and asked if would I like to play a live set on the main stage, well... I said, YES!
It's not a huge Glastonbury type thing but I can play whatever I like (and I do like to muck about when I play out live) the last time I did a festival was at The Big Chill years ago and it was great fun. No money involved, but I get free tickets, food + booze so hey, it'll be a right laugh. It gives me a whole month to think of a set, hmmm...
