Once this has ice in it, this is going to be a lovely way to cool down a bit.

    • The verdict is: if it weren't for the staggering amounts of caffeine Vietnamese coffee apparently has, I'd have had five.Continuity
    • I read an article comparing it to V60 which would be my base and indeed, it ain't no joke. I like how simple it looks, might be too much for a daily driver?palimpsest

    • I think that — more than anything — it's a question of concentration. Your standard Cà phê sữa đá is generally brewed with 20 grams of coffee to 45 g of water.Continuity
    • At that concentration, you're best bet is to treat it like an Italian espresso, which isn't something I'd knock back 4 or 5 in a row of.Continuity
    • Also, it's Robusta, not Arabica, which has a naturally more powerful flavour. so, at that concentration, it'll knock your socks off. That said:Continuity
    • I tried making a standard cup of coffee in my coffee press with this stuff at my normal proportions, which has way more water to coffee.Continuity
    • I had the shakes for a good hour and a half afterwards.Continuity
    • *your best bet, ffs.Continuity
    • Ooooh, I see what you were getting at with the V60 comparison. Yeah, basically, this is a gravity filter, just with holes in the tin, rather than a paper filterContinuity
    • On its own, it's caveman-simple to use, even daily.Continuity
    • Cool. I take my Aeropress, cold water over the grounds and leave it to drip through in my fridge. Takes a while, but the end result is great on a hot day.skinny_puppy

Paul Simon was an absolute joy to see... the dear man is 84, arthritic, and struggles to strum and sing his lovely songs, but he’s backed by a wonderful group of musicians who support him every step of the way... his unending desire to share with the audience what he created over the past 60+ years was quite clear (along with unforgettable moments with his lovely wife, Edie Brickell)... that show will stick with me forever... I never thought I’d tear up at a concert like that. ❤️

Last evening, I made home made chicken nuggets from scratch. They were fucking great.

As I was deep-frying in batches, I apparently touched my inner arm at the bicep/elbow with the edge of the spider, which had just been in the hot oil, moving chicken nuggets around.

When it happened, it was a bit red over a wide area, and didn't particularly hurt. Just stung a bit. So, I took my own advice to Nairn and applied zinc oxide ointment to the area liberally, and went on with my evening. I applied more before bed, remarking that the area was still red and stinging a bit, but wasn't bad at all.

Today it still doesn't hurt, or even sting anymore.

But, apparently, I fucking branded myself with that spider.

This is the doozie I did to myself a couple of weeks back - I was cooking potatoes in a couple of inches of boiling oil and whilst holding the pan dropped some in, which splashed oil onto my wrist, but as I was hlding the pan I couldn't react very quickly. Fuck, it hurt. Still not quite healed, and this was two weeks ago now...

so my instagram algo has basically become a smut pedaler .. and its so random.. like its normally just street art and synths, but then every couple of weeks, it switches up.. and then its every few posts its some thirst trap video where either the woman flashes her naked crotch at you for a moment, or its some weird setup where its a relatively benign video, but if you notice they have positioned the blanket/jacket/dress in a way where its a down the barrel shot, flaps and all.

at first i was just reporting them, and honestly more than half the time the reports came back rejected as not going against community guidelines, even though there was nothing subtle about the actual content.. so i just kind of gave up.

but then i guess because i have then send it to a friend of mine its tuned the algo to the point where when its instagram horny time, i literally cant look at my phone at work.

im all for flesh and for nubile females, and all power to them for subverting the algorithm, but it feels like at this point because i have reported it a bunch its somehow tuned the algo to feed me more of it.. which is strange as it would suggest the algorithm knows exactly what it is..

Tuesday I fly to Japan to be with my family - who've been there for almost three weeks. It's weird/nice/lonely/pleasant/sad/f... to be away from them for so long but it reinforces the old cliche that absence does indeed make the heart grow fonder. I'll spend two weeks with them, and our big adventure will be a trip to Okinawa with some scuba diving thrown in. I truly miss my wife and boys. We facetime twice a day but the boys are distracted and the experience drifts between engaged and TOTALLY NOT PAYING ATTENTION.
Tonight I feast. Baked sweet potatoes (SEAN ASTIN GIF), and a skirt steak on the grill with an arugula, cucumber and bermuda onion salad. A splash of reposado tequila and a fantastic local IPA chaser to get the appetite going and I foresee an early bedtime.
    Cheers, QBN - To Health!
