COVID kind of kicked my ass in terms of what I have to show for myself portfolio-wise. Everything w/my existing major clients shifted. Some of my restaurant clients revamped their menus / overall strategy to suit their needs during the pandemic but in doing so much of the creativity / focus on beautiful promo work etc turned into visually clinical shit / social distancing signage etc etc. Most of the websites got stripped down to nothing. My other major group of clients were event companies. Music and Food festivals etc... they all used to have 'fun' websites that fit the current trends / needs for the client but that shit all disappeared of course with COVID. Those two type of clients were basically my primary work for years before the pandemic... outside of that I have a shitload of 'good' banner work I have done for various agencies... but that's kind of it. :/ The last 4 years of work is pretty much crap... and everything before that is somewhat dated already.
I'm about to have a new portfolio... I've gone the extra mile (kilometer) and have built a fairly respectable website in terms of it being pretty / using some smooth JS, possible openGL stuff... but I'm realizing it's all kind of dumb as I build this cuz the work I'm going to fill it with is subpar or below... It's like having a brand new fancy refrigerator (stainless steal... the works) but all I have is half a carton of old eggs and a can of Diet Pepsi in there.
- string up the carton, eggs, and dr pepper so that they move when you open the door. https://www.youtube.…imbecile

- Pony, how do you like working for restaurants? I love the work, but sometimes find the clients difficult. I guess it's about picking the right clients.canoe
- Restaurants were solid clients pre-pandemic... all of them have slowed way down / now do more in-house to save money. Nowadays I'm more of repairman to them.PonyBoy
