Just up and decided to go to college finally.... at 39yrs old.... went online and started the application process. Within days i had finished registration and went and talked to the school in person to make sure i had really done everything right.
I feel way to old to start this but old enough to finally enjoy learning on a schedule and ditch the 21years of learning on the job and floating between careers. I finally want the piece of paper to say i know what i'm talking about.
Hopefully by the time i graduate the financial system will have all collapsed in America and school loans have been dissolved in the revolution.
- It's more about the connections rather than that piece of paper, but never too late! Congrats man!grafician
- You could be working another 30 years easy in the future so learning new stuff is different to previous generations.PhanLo
- I was speaking to a joiner today who worked 31 years for 1 company, basically since he finished his apprenticeship. That's so rare now.PhanLo
- @PhanLo Milton practiced until his death (rip) at 90-91? Don't think designers ever retire.
So @freakpelican buddy you stillhave 30-40 years of practice ahead!grafician - "It's more about the connections rather than that piece of paper"
Shut up retard, even when cheering up people you're lame.******** - Good for you. I went at 39, got a masters in the middle of covid.cannonball1978
- Designer = career for life, job for a few months, un-employment for a few years...shapesalad
- I don't really care about the piece of paper as much as proving to myself i could get a degree in photography and not just "be a photographer"freakpelican
- I totally fell into the graphic+web design/film editing work i got in my early 20's. During the flash days i really felt inspired.freakpelican
- But i always felt like a horrible graphic designer and a poser of a web designer past AS2. Photography became my job in my 30'sfreakpelican
- Now to actually take time to study what i have figured out i am best at after years of 'fake-it-til-you-mak... feels like ill appreciate it more.freakpelican

I hit 46 years old this year and figured it's a good time to finally talk to a psychotherapist. I'm going to get assessed for a bunch of different disorders that collectively make up Autism Spectrum Disorder. It kicks off tomorrow and I'm pretty fucking anxious about it.
Anyway, I'm about half a bag of wine in now and can't sleep.
- Good for you. Be prepared for hard (but possibly very rewarding) work.jagara
- ADHD, GAD (Generalized Anxiety Disorder) and recurring depression here. Thereapy has helped immensely.jagara
- It really took off, when i switched from cognitive behavioral therapy to Emotion-Focused Therapy.jagara
- Good luck, bro :)jagara
- Good luck. have been putting off something similar for too long. Genuinely interested to know how you get on.Fax_Benson
- Cheers. I've suspected I've had some combined Aspergers/ADHD type symptoms for years, and have had several long-term relationships shit the bed.5timuli
- I work for a large tech corp that favors extroversion and social "visibility", so it's tough to exist in that space when you're a misanthropic, cynical cunt.5timuli

- I have a theory that all people who spend most of their time online in internet forums are autists, or at least strongly introvertdrgs
- I'm neither, but I spend time here because it's entertaining at work and I don't feel like looking anywhere elsemonospaced
- otherwise, I'm usually with local friends or taking care of my family (cooking, cleaning, entertaining).monospaced
- Nairn, funny you should mention that... it's what I put it down to for years when I came over here. And I think I have some ADHD issues as well.5timuli

I would put this in the Fuck Adobe thread, but i think 'Adobe can go fuck themselves' is a given.
Our team this morning have all had pop-ups from their Adobe software to transfer their stuff either into a personal account or over to Entourage(???). Some have had emails suggesting a data breach yet I clicked 'personal' and had no issues. Any of you had similar things happen this morning?

Dear valued Adobe customer,On 19 August 2021, we will be discontinuing certain low-use features in Adobe Acrobat online services related to tracking and reminders for shared documents and sorting documents based on certain fields. These features are required to be deprecated to enable future enhancements around end-user productivity, security, services configurability and collaboration in the coming year. All other Adobe Document Cloud capabilities will continue to be available.

What happened to Moldero?
- scarabin8
The sparrow’s doing great. I think what happened is the lil guy fell out of his nest (it’s a fledgeling) and lay on the ground for a while dehydrating and going hungry before my cat brought him to me like, “hey did you lose this?”. After a very thorough inspection i found no injuries, but birds have thin skin and cats have sharp teeth that make wounds that close over quickly so i put him on antibiotics just in case.
He’s a greedy little bugger on a high-protein diet (went from hand-fed bird formula from a dropper to pecking solids in two days!) and his weight is increasing steadily.
He also went from complete immobility to small hops, to short hop/flights, and finally (today) to longer, sustained flight at a consistent height. I’ve been taking him outside for practice. There’s a bigass pomegranate tree in my backyard inhabited by a flock of sparrows and they like chirping back and forth to each other.
Probably tomorrow or the next day he’ll be good enough at flight to join them!
- post a pic of it.********

Huh. Youtube's Isaac Arthur isn't a fat asian dude.
I'm genuinely surprised and, I feel, slightly betrayed.
- I'd always assumed he was a MegaNerd who named his persona after Arthur C Clarke and Isaac Asimov. But no. He's literally just some dude named Isaac ArthurNairn
- https://static.wikia…Nairn
- And that's fine. Honestly.
I'm ok with it.Nairn - I just.. I just had an image in mind, and now that chubby asian nerd I'd imagined with a whole backstory is gone. done. dead.Nairn

I bought an old wooden frame, because I wanted to put one of my photos inside. Damn these old frames were good craftsmanship. Better than I thought, so I needed some force to get the old image out... and I broke the glass.
Now, what should I do with this image ("Alter Fritz")?
I would love to up-cycle it, but can't think of anything than putting tape over his eyes (boring) or candle wax as if tears were running (seen here on QBN) which somehow would be lame because this guy was a former leader of Germany and did good things for the country (e.g. abolished torture).
Somehow, I don't feel like throwing it into the trash. But what else could I do?
- Maybe look at Jake & Dinos Chapmans art, particularly the Goya stuff. I think you'll find some inspiration there.Morning_star
- I always buy second hand art/paintings instead of new frames for this exact reason. They're usually incredibly high quality.monospaced
- cut out one of your nude photos so that the chick is sat on his shoulders, legs wrapped around him, scaled down to fit.shapesalad
- well.. just get it into photoshop, try out some nude women from your library of photos, scale, print, cut out, spray mount.shapesalad
