I've begun to realize how bad parenting or broken homes really mess up people into adulthood.
People who don't have good support systems really are a mess.
- is there a "but" here? i'm waiting for a "but"pango

- Bad home life in childhood is also correlated with creativity... so there’s that.monNom
- Also correlated with mental illness. So there’s that too.monNom
- Which is also correlated with creativity. So there’s that too.jagara

Does anybody have any advice for a laptop with external monitor issue I'm having.
I'm only 2 days in and never done it before, but whenever I wake up my Mac, all the palettes and windows revert to some other setup and the saved workspaces I have setup in Indesign & Illustrator doesn't resolve it.

WTF is with that Wandavision show. I thought it was supposed to be good! Shite.

- Except for the cheesy battle at the end.monospaced

Regarding not hearing back for over a month on a job application, having had positive rounds of interviews - finally they respond:
I'm too good/creative, job is not so exciting.
I didn't appear excited enough.
... So I should be more excited about a non-exciting job, and less creative/good.
Ok....
- This means they can't afford you and the position was shitty anyway.grafician
- At this point the entire interviewing process should be paid in advance at market rates, 'cuz the waste of time is monumentalgrafician
- yep, I should send an invoice.shapesalad
- Had more time wasted with another company, seem to have deep pockets, no salary on ad, asking me my salary expectation... then 'its above our range'shapesalad
- ...so then put the fucking range on the advert and stop wasting mine and your time fucking idiots.shapesalad
- Think I'll just put in red ink at the top of my CV 'Salary expectation: £xxK+' and save myself some time...shapesalad

I will never tire of people misspelling 'rogue' as 'rouge', as its context typically makes the error particularly deflating to the intent.
- But also consider you're talking in your native language and people understand you, isn't that awesome?grafician

- Yeah the physics are dumb here, you can't have waves that big in water that shallow duhgrafician
- but overall Interstellar had top attention to details, including the physics for that huge black holegrafician
- Favorite sexy astronaut: Sigourney Weaver, Anne Hathaway or Sandra Bullock?CyBrainX
- You actually can have big waves that move into shallow water. It happens. It didn’t break physics, it just doesn’t happen here much.monospaced
- Waves are tallest in the shallows. A tsunami mid-ocean is only a few cm, it grows to metres as the sea floor rises.i_monk
- @i_monk, exactly. There's no dumb physics here. They thought it out very well, in fact.monospaced

What's the going rate/salary for a senior level print designer in NYC working in house at a corporate-type job?
- I would say about $120k but ... are there “print designer” positions in house corporate anymore? I kinda have one of those positions but it’s more digital daily.monospaced

Bought a second hand Mac Mini, hook it to my side monitor, installed and configured Synergy (for to use only a keyboard and a mouse for both) and now I´m able to test things on MacOs whitout this cluncky vmware thing...
Another computer at home (I've got now 4 machines, and another 3 laptops (2 daugthers and wife)).
Ouch!
- In a side note... 3 days for vacations. I need it, it's being a very crazy year. 3 weeks of doing NOTHING. Shorts, espadrilles, a notebook, pens and bbq!!OBBTKN
- same here, 3 days to go... just hope the weather gets better in this side of the peninsuladmay
- We're still waiting, if someday this summer, the cloud machine runs out of water and we can see a clean blue sky... Worst summer in years, puke!OBBTKN

- You dont have to have sex with a sibling to buy in Tasmania any more. As long as you have terrible literacy and outdated views you get a pass.thumb_screws

The Post Office local to my house, which I only occasionally use, always tries to hard-sell services one doesn't actually need. It's a little infuriating, especially considering I use another Post Office all the time, and know what services, etc, I need.
Anyway, sent a package y'day on First Class, Signed for, which always - ALWAYS - gets to addresses in London the next day, outside of Christmas time.
Guy tried to sell me the more expensive next day service and I said, "nah, first class is fine - it'll get there tomorrow". "It could take up to three days, sir..", "No, I guarantee it'll be there tomorrow, it always does" says I, stupidly.
Guess what? It's not there today, and I needed it to be.
Why didn't I spend that extra £3?
Now unsure whether it's simply chance, or Fate is teaching me a lesson.. or the always-up-selling bastard kept my package aside for sending today instead.
- He did. Next time just say that you can't afford it, and you hope that it will get there on time...sted
- If he offers arson protection for your building, take itscarabin
- Or the c*nt at the PO chucked your thing into the 'send these tomorrow or whenever' pile just to teach you the lesson for thinkin' you're smart ;)microkorg

Downgrade from 50*C to 40*Cgrafician - I usually hate discussing the fucking weather of all things, but this is getting ridiculousgrafician

One day left for vacations, oh my...
Totally destroyed, tired and burned. From past summer vacations, I've barely stopped, idiot of me.
* Today my youngest daugther have received the first dose of the vaccine, 3 weeks more and all our family will have completed the cycle.
Enjoy life locos, (if you see smoke, know that it's probably this crazy basque making a barbecue, making a toast for all of you...) ;)

So after years of some of you daft cunts insisting on misspelling my name as 'Naim' I just had an enquiry from someone who shared my name and I was delighted at the possibility of working with someone possibly (unlikely) related.
Stating as much, they replied - "where are your family from, Syria or Lebanon?" at which point I realised their name was Naim, not Nairn.
*squints*
- lol
I am constantly correcting myself that your name is Nairn and not Narin. sorrysted - Haha!OBBTKN
- I didn't actually realize Nairn was your real name.monospaced

- Imagine having a name that just sounds like “name”. It’s like an abbot and costello setupscarabin
- @mono - aye, that's why I ditched it for the other name I used here for a decade, realising I shouldn't've used it in the first place. Now I just don't care...Nairn
- @faxion yeah, this is why you should never use Helvetica for UI...grafician
- I always thought you're Naim with an 'm'; reading this post, I just had to comb my cursor through your name to see the 'r' and 'n'.
mind-blown.gifKrassy - @lol Krassy :)
@sted - that's Dinky's influence, I imagine - cunt always insisted on mangling my name on NTC for ... reasons.Nairn - fuck Dinky, I met him a few times in real life, and he's just as bad in personmonospaced
- ey, he was an oft'troubled soul, much like many of us on occasion. I think he just didn't let that veil slip much so we didn't see WHY he was a cunt.Nairn
- He worked at Bloomberg, which is a soul sucking corporation. I hardly blame him, I guess. I hope he’s okay though.monospaced
