Anyone have a suggestion as to what to get for a coworker who just had a son with his wife? He'll be out for a week or so as they have family coming and going, but I would like to find something for him and his wife. I'm thinking money is what they need the most of and I am in no position to presume what their needs are at this time, cash seems so impersonal, same for gift cards. Any suggestions before I drop $100 in a congratulations card?

In a new team at work. All new hires. First few projects done and one guy, nice enough guy, is dragging me down as his work isn't up to the measure. He's kinda ruining my high work quality. And he doesn't seem to know his stuff, softwares etc. Hes getting flustered a little by the work too. And his overall work ethic is a little poor. He's seemingly in same pay and seniority as me. All I can think is 'why did they hire him?' and 'how can I avoid working on projects with him?'.
Wondering how this is going to pan out. Do I air my concerns with my bosses? Or keep going and hope they notice him. I don't want to get involved in office politics or play any part in him being fired etc, but... I can't keep working with him and having my work brought down in quality by his contributions...

QBN has been so much part of my life for over a decade, it only feels right to bit ye all fairwells.
I got very very sick last year with shear work pressures and it has lead me to seek
help. The help has made me realise how many negative factors were/are in my life.
True life is no bed or roses and any group of people has its dramas but in honesty I feel
I'm no longer getting anything from here. It feels it has become very singular in belief and
aggressively so. I subconsciously dread clicking to see whom's being bullied today for not following in line.
I miss seeing artwork, gif of the day as well as the joking and what ever George could come up with his raspberry pi and a few sheets of tin foil.I'm aware I'm not overtly that popular and thanks for putting up with my random dyslexic fuckup's.
I dont fancy having a break down like the others leaving before me have but I am near tears:Gardener - keep collecting your records. Your kids short was really well made and I hope he keeps making them.
Krassy/Drgs - you kicked my arse so many times at chess but I never gave up nor tired! You rock. Maybe one day I'll see you both vs skynet!

We don’t need the stress. I totally get it.
But this place has been home for many of us for over a decade, through thick and thin, good times and bad, tragedy and happiness. We’re one big disfinctional family and we’re somehow better for it.

The majority of posts on QBN used to come from stylish, talented, connected designers, sharing a mix of their own work and hand-picked content from the interwebs and their peers.
Now the majority of posts are coming from just a few users who mainly share mediocre, viral memes and the same garbage that can be found on the rest of the web. Plus there's all the trolling, misogyny, and juvenile negativity.
I'm not leaving yet, but there's less and less reason to come back all the time. I don't think the old people are coming back, so that means we need to get fresh blood in here. Maybe kicking out a couple of the toxic people could help too.

Geebus Christ guys! I connected to the QBN only 2 times in 3-4 days, both times was today and only spend 3-5min scrolling around, i dont have a lot of time atm. But whats happening in here!? We seems to be in a crisis or something. We need to get our shit togheter. We're an old web community, and thats precious, really. We really should think twice before insulting and bullying each other in here, we should all be friends actually and support each other.
