My oven just blew out fire. Part of it touched my leg while I was at the kitchen sink. I immediately turned it off, the glass was foggy (I'd just turned it on at 350) Happened so fast, my pants and leg are perfectly fine.
I was slightly suspicious about the way the light acts whenever I turn on the stove. The light is no longer working, but it wasn't on when it blew.
Can't figure out what happened.

my god.. clicked on my qbn profile and saw that it's been 15 years since I joined.
Made me think how much this place changed. I remember when I joined QBN it was when I was in college and a friend of mine was with me in a class and he showed it to me.
This place changed my life profoundly. I have met people here that changed my life in a way I can't ever repay.
Ponyboy (Kev) you were one of those people. Love you buddy.
Also, this place was such an inspirational place, with creativity, people, there was no politics, no social justice crap whether you are for one side or the other. We were all helping each other and talking about design, tech and this was almost always the focus. I've met people here I worked with for almost a decade in entertainment industry and amazing talent.
There is some of it now, but man a lot more negativity and I also succumbed to that many times. I do miss those days.
I wish politics and all this stuff is avoided because it leads to negativity and such a toxic relationship among all people here which I think even with such strong political opinions do so with best intentions.
So I've decided not to partake in that part going forward (jokingly/trollingly or otherwise) and just enjoy the things I always loved on QBN. Talking about web, design, tech etc.

It annoys me when people here segregate their willingness to help users here who they disagree with politically or have issues with their input - eg. considering them 'trolls' because of the form of their involvement.
I'll happily respond to hayoth and robotron, for example, if their post has nothing to do with what I disagree with them about.
I don't think QBN was a serene vista of apolitical involvement back in the old days - i think we've always been dicks. Just - there's less of us now, and the novelty of engagement in the internet's long-since passed.

A junior designer where I work just got made redundant - they weren't capable of creating the level of work required - and have asked if they can put a project in their portfolio that they hardly worked on. They made some colour changes, client's text edits etc. but nothing substantial. I like them as a person and want to help them get a new job, but also don't feel comfortable with someone taking credit for work I've created, even though it wouldn't really affect me. What's the etiquette here?
