Got Moderna boosted wednesday afternoon and it was the worst shot yet despite being a half dose. By Thursday night I ran a fever, had a piercing headache, nausea, the works. This morning I’m feeling better but my arm is red, swollen, and feels like it’s going to fall off.

I’m asthmatic and my mom had a terrible allergic reaction after her first shot and can’t continue the series. For those reasons, I’m trying to be responsible but this was the almost unbearable. I can’t imagine doing this again in July.

How was your boost jab experience?

    • ...how about letting the millions of years of immunology evolution do the work for you? just a though.pr2
    • but for real, the most recent variant is very mild. called a "natural vaccine" by many immunologists.pr2
    • no booster for me yet, its not available where im at, I hardly see anyone anywhere anyway unless were surfing together and even then were not closeGuyFawkes

My booster gave me a sore arm, and I was a rad tired for one day.

    Update:

I was exhausted on the weekend. Felt sick Monday. Took a home test Tuesday because I was feeling very sick: negative. Still sick today (Friday) and took another home test: positive.

Don't rely on home tests for anything important! You need to be infected for 2 to 5 days (or more) for a home test to be accurate!

My fault for not looking into the rate of false negatives, although the nurse who did the guided home test MIGHT have fuckin' told me! :(

Chicago Department of Public Health Commissioner Dr. Allison Arwady addressed booster shot questions during a Facebook Live event Tuesday.
According to Arwady, people should way 10 days after their positive test before getting their booster shot. This is in part due to isolation guidelines from the CDC.
Arwady said that while those who recently recover from COVID do have antibodies, she still recommends getting a booster shot.
"Certainly if you've had a recent COVID infection, you've had your antibodies go up, but my recommendation to my staff, to my family, to everybody is particularly with the surge right now I would still recommending getting the booster," she said.

I listened to a Prof. today who said that they have seen patients who caught Omicron 2 or 3 times in a short span of time.
Said, this variant is good at hiding from the immune system and doesn't build necessary immunity in the body.

So if you get it don't get too comfortable.

A Canadian study that vastly underestimated the protection COVID-19 vaccines provide against the Omicron variant is being revised — but not before it spread widely on social media by anti-vaxxers, academics and even the creators of the Russian Sputnik V vaccine.

The Ontario preprint study, which has not yet been peer reviewed, suggested that any three doses of mRNA COVID-19 vaccines were just 37 per cent effective against Omicron infection, while two doses actually showed negative protection.

The preprint has been shared on Twitter more than 15,000 times in the two weeks since it's been published.

But the paradoxical findings were later found to have been influenced by behavioural and methodological issues, such as the timing of the observational study, the way in which vaccine passports altered individual risk and changes in access to COVID-19 testing.

The results are currently being updated with additional data that showed completely different results, said Dr. Jeff Kwong, the study's lead author and an epidemiologist and senior scientist at the Institute for Clinical Evaluative Sciences (ICES) in Toronto.

"We're in the process of adding two more weeks of data and it looks like there's no more negative VE (vaccine effectiveness). Our results are now more in line with the data from the U.K. where it's lower, for sure, compared to Delta, but never getting to negative," he told CBC News.
