Sadly, 'Covid Dick' Is Real!
It seems we can add sexual dysfunction to the long list of unexpected and unpleasant effects of the coronavirus. Thankfully, this doesn’t appear to be a common occurrence, and there are some potential remedies that those afflicted can try.
This week, the Slate-run sex advice podcast How to Do It discussed the harrowing tale of an anonymous letter writer who was suffering from what’s come to be known as “covid dick.” The writer, who identified as a heterosexual man in his 30s, said that he had gotten very sick and was hospitalized from covid-19 last July. After he was discharged, he began experiencing erectile dysfunction (ED). Though his symptoms did improve after seeing a doctor, the man reportedly was left with a glaring reminder of his ordeal. Describing himself as above average in penis size before covid-19, he said that his penis had now shrunk about 1.5 inches and that he had “become decidedly less than average.”

Got home from Texas last night with my daughter (7). We flew down on Thursday, both fully vaccinated and me boosted. Daughter started having a cough yesterday and scratchy throat. Used two rapid tests each at home last night, she was positive and I was negative. First case we've had in my household.
She's generally feeling okay, but staying isolated in her room, binging videos on her iPad. Had a fever of 100.1 last night but medicine has kept it down. No loss of smell or taste, no consistent cough. I even got a pulse oximeter today and she's got no oxygen issues.
Both kids staying home from school, waiting on her PCR test tomorrow and then getting one myself tomorrow. Wearing masks around the house, actually slept in my mask last night in bed with my wife and that was surprisingly easy to do after some melatonin to get a deep sleep. Can't do that again tonight... I'm sleeping on the basement couch.

If you have any symptoms now or in the next few weeks, you can be pretty confident that you have it. If a test says negative, test again in 3 days and it will be positive.
If you live with someone, you’ll give it to them or they gave it to you. This is as easy to catch as the common cold.
My advice: if you feel sick, quarantine with your family if you can swing it. Save your home tests for later, you don’t need one now because you definitely have it. Home tests give false negatives until 5 to 7 days after infection. They’re useful for finding asymptomatic infection. But right now at this moment, symptoms tell you everything you need to know.

Austria has announced plans to give Covid-19 vaccine recipients an almost one-in-three chance to win a €500 (£415) gift voucher while MPs voted to fine those who decline it, as the Alpine republic implements its “carrot and stick” strategy for overcoming reluctance to take the jab.

Early in the pandemic there were videos of Canadian cops dragging people out of a church. A lot of my so-called “progressive” friends were applauding the cops. Their reasoning was that the churchgoers were breaking the law and could spread Covid irresponsibly.
The videos made me shudder.
