My son is moving to Ireland (from Melbourne) for 6 months...or however long he enjoys himself. Travelling alone...basing himself in Dublin then he'll see what happens. Has a permit to work while he's there.
He's into music big time...plays in a band so is hoping to experience a bit of that.
Any recommendations or suggestions? His Mum is worried sick about him travelling alone!!
- How old is he?
Read Surrender if he likes U2... great music book based mostly in Ireland.canoe - Also Trinity might give him a bit more of an understanding of the culture and historycanoe
- He's 22. Reads a lot...and has read up a lot about Irish culture etc.
After some practical advice also.BusterBoy - Man this sounds awesome. It's amazing to be young! Fontaines DC, Kneecapstoplying
- @BusterBoy, my sons are 12 and 8 AND dang I am going to miss those shits when they're older/mobile like your son...
...So exciting though; boy become man, etc.ideaist - Ireland is great and people are the nicest folks around. He's gonna have a great timeHAL9001
- what did you do? why is he running so far away? T_Tpango
- Expensive for younguns. Rent here is crazy.mort_
- My practical advice would be get out of Dublin, it's shite. but you will get that opinion from any old fucker thats from elsewhere in Ireland :)kingsteven
- Ireland is really small, you can get anywhere in about 3 hours by road from Dublin. I go to gigs in Dublin from Belfast and can be home in bed by midnight.kingsteven
- Ah Dublin’s home and I love it, mostly.mort_
- Thanks...I almost don't want to give him too much advice and just wing it. He can always come home if he's not having fun.
But I'll miss him...BusterBoy - Just remind him to test for chlamydia often...maikel
- ^ wtf?mort_

Watching porn is living out your cuckold kink.
90% of the time, all the time.- deepNBQ00

- @palimpsest I actually don't understand what you're saying?jagara
- I'm saying that people get off from watching someone else fuck the person they would like to be fucking: cuckold kink.palimpsest
- I don't think that that's necessarily a "cuckold kink". It's just imagery to help people get off. Someone's gotta do the fucking. For some people, maybe. Dunno.jagara

Here's a note from Aquent's recent 2026 Salary Guide for hiring creative companies...
'From titles to skill stacks'
"In 2026, compensation decisions are not merely about talent attraction and retention but about funding your organization’s AI future. Companies must shift from funding static job titles to investing in dynamic skill stacks to translate their AI ambition into competitive advantage."
Reading some of these job posts one might find themselves sounding barely useful even if you come w/Figma, a touch a Webflow and a side of Rive while still skilled in the primary Adobe family of apps...
...time to 'get stacked', fuckers. <3
- Ups and downs ¯\_(ツ)_/¯OBBTKN
- Skill stack just reads like who is the most useful for the AI to harvest for their training data.autoflavour
- the theme of these i'm picking up is 'ADHD skillset' - 'Jack of all trades'.kingsteven

The day when all my online subscriptions remind me that I'm still alive and that I've turned another year older has arrived, lol.

I have this shocking personality trait...I'd rather live in ignorance of bad news for as long as I can and then be confronted with a massive shit storm...rather than a slow drip.
That's why my financial situation is so fucked right at the minute sadly.
- Hope things get better, hugs!OBBTKN
- be strong man. you'll be ok.renderedred
- That doesn't at all resonate with me, in no way whatsoever, absolutely and utterly.
xNairn - Ugh, Buster.
I suspect you're absolutely not alone in this. Ask me how I know.
Also: this doesn't define you.Continuity - The austriche... ähh The Ostrich Effect...neverscared

Wut?Nairn - Keep it in your pants, neverscared.palimpsest
- Ive felt the same way at times, but the shit storm can have a painful, long tail. You can shorten the drag by bravely looking the problem in the eyes and makingshellie
- One, very small change today. Thats all. One small change.shellie
- I shared in an earlier post but there is power in believing that you are capable, smart and more resilient than you give yourself credit for. You can do this!shellie
- I've been the same way since the last presidential election. I know 2016 was game over but since 2024 I've given up on the news.CyBrainX

Fuck you CBS
- Yep...watch the station go full MAGA now.
Didn't really vibe with Paul M as the final guest...a bit to downbeat.
Should have been Jon Stewart.BusterBoy - CNN is next apparently even though they've been compromised for decades already********
- Gonna miss Colbert. He kept me sane injecting humor into the otherwise horror shit show that is world / US news.jagara

I’m flying to Lisbon today for a ten day Portugeasy trip. It’s already stupid fucking hot here in the UK, so may as well go somewhere that’s even hotter. Any recommendations of places to check out, lemme know folks. X
- A shame Shapesalad's not here to wax on about all the Portuguese spots... .Nairn
- Be sure to go to Porto, too. And while you're there, the city Gaia on the other side of the river. Maybe Peniche / Baleal. Tourist spots, but nice ones :)jagara

Halloween is a ways out, but I think this year I'm finally going to do what I've been daydreaming about for years and get a pair of drywall stilts to be 8 feet tall, and dress like a wizard.
But what else would be a cool costume that used drywall stilts?
- OBBTKN9
The Multipla is back home, except for the idling fluctuations (until the ECU learns and loads the new values) it runs like a charm!
- Now we just need to get Pony's and Moldy's back, and all is right in the universe.Continuity

PSG wins Champions League again, holy shit!
Of course I went straight to Mbappe's insta to read the comments haha.
Some people really can't wait to shit on someone right away when they're happy, especially someone who can do what none of them can.On to the WC now!
- Watched it right after the Icehockey WC Semifinal SUI : NOR and was surprised how soulless, boring and sometimes embarrassing that football game felt compared.Longcopylover
- It's nice to see PSG working as a team and not relying on some expensive big names like they had in the past. Winning the CL back to back is not an easy fest.NBQ00
- But I don't understand why these idiots fans and youth have to destroy Paris and set everything on fire.NBQ00
- Yes they deserve it. As for the rest, too long an issue to summarise.. mainly the lack of consequences.spl33nidoru
- was walking past a neighbours house during this and guy busted out holding a scarf over his face. turned around and started crying in to the wall.kingsteven
- i thought he'd discovered the hanging corpse of a relative or something, then noticed it was arsenal scarf fucking drama queens...kingsteven
- still held my breath as a passed.kingsteven
- Watched with my bro an Arsenal fan; tough go after that early lead. AND PSG ONLY scored on penalties in normal play AND penalty shots.

This is a total throwaway story, but Akagiyama mentioned Panda Express in a note and I have to spin a yarn.
Panda Express. Horrible, inedible.
Years back I was living in Eugene, OR (burn baby, burn) and was on the west side of town. There was a known gang of meth head bike thieves. They'd do yard sales of yanked bikes.
One day I saw one of them dozing on a corner, almost a mile from the busted ass house I knew from Craigslist.
I happened to be passing by at the perfect moment, where some moron Good Samaritan woke him up, and gifted him with what can only be described as several pounds of Panda Express. Big sack, had to be multiple entrees.
The bike thief woke up, and in a fit of rage went full Kung Pao and beat the Naive Samaritan with the gifted food. Bag was ripped, rice was flying. He kept throwing bits at the guy as he ran away.
Is there a German word for hilarious / depressing? Because that's absolutely what it was, and I will never forget it.

My father comes to visit this afternoon with tomatoes for salad and homemade fried vegetables... taking advantage of his visit to the nursing home where his older brother is staying.
Lately, we've grown quite distant, it's my fault; work, work, and more work. And trying to maintain a life as close as possible to my wife and daughters is pushing me further away from my parents every day.
If only I were getting rich!
Like mice running on a wheel, with no time for a real, peaceful life.
