Hope not to jinx it but I'm this close to scoring my dream rep after months without jobs (not unusual in my field).

My portfolio is as good as I can make it, and I last improved/updated it 3 months ago.

Since then, none of my inquiries to other reps has gotten a reply, leaving me looking at my work with embarrassment towards the things that could have been better, the properly failed but high profile projects I can't afford not to show etc.

These guys I want to work with are genuinely excited about it, and seem to see what I'm aiming for.

Tonight I looked at my portfolio again and felt unexpectedly proud. I could really see how far all my hustling got me over the years when friends who gave up along the way would gently discourage some of my zero financial potential efforts, usually the ones that ultimately paid off the most.

Anyway tonight I feel like I do belong with this rep and that everything is falling into place.

Funny how good a little outside trust makes us feel.

I have called my computer ‘my machine’ for years. Laptop, desktop, doesn’t matter. My machine.

    A. Where did I pick this up?
    2. Does anyone else do this?

My wife has given me grief about this for a while now. She said I sound like an old timer who has never seen a computer before.

    So, here's a question:

Have any of you sold a TV series before? If so, did you:

    • Include both a single synopsis of the series as a whole, plus episode synopses, or;
    • Just episode synopses?

I'm asking cos I'm working on the show I mentioned a couple of weeks ago, and it's really a mini-series — six eps, eight eps at the most — and I'm wondering if I can get away with just episode synopses in my pitch deck, or if I should include one for the series as a whole, too, in order to maximise the chances of selling this thing.

    Thoughts?

    • OK, not just *a* question, clearly.Continuity
    • I've asked two people I know who *might* know. I'll let you know if they get back to me with anything useful.Nairn

    • what would be the downside of including that? Why not?dopepope

I work as an in-house designer at a company. It's small (20 people) and comfortable. I'm good at my job and my boss and coworkers and I all get along.

But I've been there 2+ years and it's starting to get repetitive and the days are long and I talk to the same people all the time.

I've grown a lot here and think I could be making more money. I've only gotten a small inflation raise as I asked and also know we don't have a ton of money floating around. I don't want to look for another job, but that would be a good way to get more money maybe.

How do I spice it up so things don't get boring in another year?

The grass is always greener, but it would be exciting to work in a company with a lot more people to be friends with.
