“I’ll just smoosh this expanding foam back into place with my hands. I probably won’t need gloves”
That one dumb thought cost me a whole outfit, a chemical headache from three different solvents, and an entire day of picking and peeling the crap off myself. My hands are raw and red and i can’t tell what’s skin and what’s resin anymore.
Not fun, don’t be stupid like me
- jesus, I hope your hands are okay and the headaches subside that sounds horrible =\BuddhaHat
- ouch - that does sound horrible - may i suggest aloe [vera] barbidensus for your hands._me_

Last coup,e of days makes me think a stone carver n the heights of the Roman Empire 2000+ years ago, lets call him Graficus Nonsenseicus, saw what illuminations and written text from monks years later using quills from ostriches arses and ground up minerals for ink, then to them what Guttenburg did with printed type press, and then what he would think of typewriters and then typewriters of the desktop printing revolution... and then animation of type, 3D, Projection mapping and VR.
What took years, then took months, what was done in months, then took days, minutes and now can be “prompted” in seconds...
Technology evolves. As humans do - just doesn’t seem to have hit some people yet - and that’s fine... i literally don’t care what people think - but negativity towards me is something i won’t put up with.
I never said I invented anything - just using technology around me and my conceptual brain to create new imagery for people to view and hopefully enjoy.

€1 = $1
Told you it would hit.
It's like $100 oil, it was edging closer and closer, when it got within a seven day moving average range of it, it was inevitable. Nothing to do with technical analysis or maths, pure market psychology.

I have a slow-burning anxiety growing about Adobe retiring support for type 1 fonts at the end of this year :/
- Most fonts are in .otf format these days, just find replacements for your old files?grafician
- Ya, all fonts I’ve purchased the past 10 years, or so, have the open type versions. But The 1000s from before that... ughGnash
- And all those client files archived ...Gnash

Ever tried to convey your sense of wonder of the vastness of the universe to someone, and getting an empty, indifferent stare? Like, showing JWST images to someone, and getting an "oh my god, who cares" kind of reaction? Getting ridiculed for being a geek, or being someone preoccupied with something so incredibly niche and irrelevant? Or even getting scolded for being interested in space, when we "have real problems on earth"? All these happened to me, and I have learned to pick my audience more carefully.
I used to find this profoundly annoying. Fucking narrow-minded idiots.
But I think I get it now. Our unlikely, precious exisence is too abstract for 98% of people (and it's not like I truly get it myself). The light of (now possibly noneexsitant) galaxies 13,7 lightyears away seem very distant (litterally and figuratively) when you're raising kids and arguing about what grafician quote is the most conceited.
And it probably is an evolutional advantage to not worry about things irrelevant to your existence, so there's that.
Having said that, outside of religion, I think thoughts about your place in the universe will give you the ultimate perspective on your life. Life is meaningless, until you define your own meaning. And stuff.
- Both stances are validdrgs
- I realized that.jagara
- Yes. Absolutely.monospaced
- You’re being generous with the 98%Gnash
- lol gnash, yup. Who’s got time for space when we’ve got more important things to worry about like who the jardashians are dating or the latest TikTok thing_niko
- I read somewhere that unless you live in the country and get to look up at the night sky and see the wonders of the universe first hand it’s too out of mind_niko
- For people in urban areas where theres way too much light pollution it’s hard to grasp our insignificant place in the cosmos since we have no reference point_niko
- But jaguars I feel the same way as you but I don’t care, I take every chance I get to show my family the jwt, space launches, pointing out where the planet are_niko
- In the night sky, totally geek out even if they roll their eyes I’ll keep it up to show them how important it is. I also find that knowing our place in the_niko
- ...universe brings a sense of calm and peace, that we’re here for a fraction of a blink of an eye and that we should be happy and enjoy life while we have it._niko
- What's the correlation between kid-rearing / grafician-criticisin... and a lack of interest in the greater universe? Je suis offensé!Nairn
- I just last night took out my mobile to try and work out if the single point of light in the London night sky was a star or a planet for my 3½ year old.Nairn
- I was so proud of her when she suggested it was a planet rather than a star after asking what it was and I responded with the simpler answer.Nairn
- "I was born on earth therefore I will die on earth, the rest is meaningless" was one response I got from some really old cunt! Paraphrasing of course.Ianbolton
- The good thing about kid-rearing is it really forces you to check your own assumptions about how much and well you understand concepts. Gotta'splain 'em simplesNairn
- @Nairn you think these two aren't the same level of importance? ;Djagara
- there's a bell curve for everything and bell ends on both sides.imbecile
- The stars are a holiday from the shit show. Real talk: If I were born today, I'd hate my parents for shoving into this world by 2030.garbage
- It's a tiny cruel speck that's just going to get crueler, but at least we have the shiny lights to look at.garbage
- The real problems on earth bullshit I scold back.cannonball1978
- you can't do it with an image, you can take them out into nature on a clear sky night and let them experience it irl lying on the earth and watching the stars.uan
- If you're in the middle of the bell curve, does that make you a bell end?sarahfailin

Are there any laser printers that you can buy that can print on small notecards? Like index cards?
Or do I have to print on letter paper and trim?
- Yeah. Most can go down to envelope sizes with those adjuster sliders.monospaced
- some printers have this "card feeder" in addition to the normal paper feeder.pango
- there are normal size paper packs that are perforated to small card sizes.uan
- but the edges will look perforated :/ you still have to trim them.pango
- I believe there are some brands that come with clean edges. mounted on transfer sheets.uan

I need to get my eyes checked.
I just went to the shop and as I rounded the corner saw a bloke dressed up in the most ridiculous drag - blokey legs carelessly stuffed into this ridiculous short-skirted pink ensemble with wide Ascot-worthy hat. Thinking at first he was going to be all loud and attention-seeking as he walked past, I went into London Mode and prepared to ignore him. As one must. Then I thought 'fuckit' 'cos it's hot outside and everyone and everything is très jolie so readied a ridiculous Cockney/Essex accent to say something like "ooh look at you, daaahling - you want some company?". As he neared I looked him in the eye, as a friendly smile wrinkled my face and began to open my mouth and then realised it was actually a woman, who was clearly mistaking my by then manic grin for interest with her own cheeky smile. Fucking hell. I carried on and dared not look back to work out how I'd got her so fucking wrong, lest she look back and further misinterpret interest.

Bought a new sunblock cream and it makes my face red like a lobster, which I discovered after going out, of course.
This is worse than that time I accidently used my (ex-)girlfriend's facial clay mask before going to sleep, which was supposed to be on for 15 min, and I had it on for 6 hours.

I have one coworker that is so loud, just in her normal voice. I can always hear her voice from the other room and everyone else is muffled.
But she never seems like she's shouting.
I'm having trouble figuring it out and why she's louder than everyone else, just in her normal talking voice.
- Certain frequencies are more audible than others.jagara

- I dated a woman like this, very loud voice but not shouting. Just loud. She was beautiful, smart, chill, funny, and was even finishing her PhD!********
- But after about 6 or 8 weeks of passion I had to break up with her. I just couldn’t picture myself living the rest of my life listening to that voice.********

My youngest daughter is in Ireland on a scholarship, and it turns out she got sunburned...
