Spread follows the 80/20 rule, as 10-20% of spreaders account for the 80-90% of the infections...

I just want to say I am anti vax and I don’t care what you think.
I am sick and tired of seeing people that are anti vax getting
slandered on sites like QBN.
I have good reason to feel this way and simply attacking me
or bad mouthing me is not going to change my mind.
I will not be silenced. I for sure will never have another one
again. No chance, I don’t care what you say to try and convince
me, I’ve fallen for that trap too many times before!!They are absolutely the worst brand of vacuum cleaner... Dyson all the way for me!!! And before you say it , I know they All Suck !!

; )ideaist - No need to fear the vaccine this time. It's very safe, it's just proteins, both Pfizer or Moderna, they basically train your immune system to fight the virusgrafician
- wouldn't get any vaccine that was made with live virus in it, like some flu shotsgrafician
- grafician, we’re pretty sure the Gardener was talking about vacuum cleaners ;)NBQ00

"How long might immunity to the coronavirus last? Years, maybe even decades, according to a new study — the most hopeful answer yet to a question that has shadowed plans for widespread vaccination."
https://www.nytimes.com/2020/11/…
"Eight months after infection, most people who have recovered still have enough immune cells to fend off the virus and prevent illness, the new data show. A slow rate of decline in the short term suggests, happily, that these cells may persist in the body for a very, very long time to come."
- ok...Why don't they do that with the flu shot?Maaku
- Weren’t we talking about people who had it twice already months ago?monospaced

Shameful.

- I wonder if the number of deaths a month from now can be extrapolated from the number of cases reported now.yuekit
- If so the USA is in for a pretty bad time. A month ago we were averaging around 50k cases/day, now more like 160k/day.yuekit
- 10 fucking percent infection rate.

Am I the only one who feels like we're in the middle of "that random movie" where horrible shit is happening, and scientists/experts (maybe even a plucky teen) knows about the impending doom, so they are trying to warn the world, but dumb asses are like "PFFT! Whatever!", and we're in the audience thinking "What a bunch of dumb asses! I hope their character dies!"?

Immunity to the Coronavirus May Last Years, New Data Hint
- Continuity7
I'm 110% *NOT* anti-vaxx.
But, I'm a bit concerned with these two vaccines. Normally, vaccines need years of painstaking research, testing, going back to the drawing board, and so on.
Having not one but two supposedly high-efficiency vaccines in less than a year sounds like utter fiction to me.
If either (or both) are found to be absolutely safe, I'll happily get the jab, but I certainly won't be the first to queue up for it. I want to wait and see.
Anyone else feel the same way, or am I being too pessimistic again?
- I definitely wouldn't be first in line, but having already had covid I'm not too worried about it anyway.MondoMorphic
- Hopefully the MAGAcrowd will line up first to get their FREEdumb shots. If the vaxx works they superspreaders will be saved. If it fails superspreaders be gone!utopian
- new vaccines, like new apple os, are best left to early adopters to find and iron out the bugshans_glib
- Oh Captain scaredy pants utopian who brags about Corona infection rates won't take the vaccine?Hayoth
- Same here man. You can't take vaccines back. And I'm not ani-vax either. I ran out for the flu shot. There's a new baby in the fam coming so I got the tdap too.shellie
- ^ Oh! Congrats?Continuity
- Between each test there are usually months or years in order to find more funding for a vaccine... here they can move onto the next stage without that problemSlashPeckham
- Shellie congrats
Someone needs to queue up a
Proud Moms.. threadRamanisky2 - yeah, iam not anti-vaxx either but I feel the same as you and i think many people probably feel the same.Bennn
- I agree 100% Cont. It's going to be a tricky decision to make though considering there's latent talk about making it mandatory in some places.ben_

- The speed just shows how quickly things can be done when urgently needed. I doubt there is a lot more to worry about than the actual virus and knock on effects.fadein11

More fuel to the fire
https://www.nytimes.com/2020/11/…
About 4,860 participants completed the study. The researchers had hoped that masks would cut the infection rate by half among wearers. Instead, 42 people in the mask group, or 1.8 percent, got infected, compared with 53 in the unmasked group, or 2.1 percent. The difference was not statistically significant.
“Our study gives an indication of how much you gain from wearing a mask,” said Dr. Henning Bundgaard, lead author of the study and a cardiologist at the University of Copenhagen. “Not a lot.”
Dr. Mette Kalager, a researcher at Telemark Hospital in Norway and the Harvard School of Public Health, was persuaded. The study showed that “although there might be a symbolic effect,” she wrote in an email, “the effect of wearing a mask does not substantially reduce risk” for wearers.
- Great, thanks for the good news. Please stick with uploading toilets and what not. You have become a real bummer.utopian
- Because the study is wrong or because it doesnt adhere to your official party line?drgs
- This is a 0-1 thing, but what about the amount of shit you're exposed to? Obviously the less you will inhale, the better. And this is where masks come.********
- I refuse to believe it!yuekit
- doesn't mean much on its own - it's pretty specific to Denmark. Also absolutely no info on what the participants were doing throughout the trialFax_Benson
- ..who they had contact with, how they behaved etc.Fax_Benson
- Yeah if you read the study it seems kind of questionable. They basically just told some people to wear masks and others not to. But aside from that no effort toyuekit
- "Participants reported their own test results; mask use was not independently verified, and users may not have worn them correctly."drgs
- no info on what exposure each had.Fax_Benson
- analyze the different conditions they were exposed to in their daily lives.yuekit
- 90% of people are functional illiterates and you cannot make everyone to follow the protocol down to the letter (simply because people are retards)drgs
- Its trying to tame the chaosdrgs
- Seems to have worked in Asia where mask-wearing is a normal everyday thing. Very few infections compared to western countries.yuekit
- Yup. Just fucking wear a mask (and wear it properly, not on your chin). MAGAfucks ain't helping, shouting all that bullshit and spreading the Wuhan flu.********
- I wear my mask. Anyway, this is the first study about face masksdrgs
- Face masks also help contain spread if you are contaminated. That's what they are for in the first place.dmay
- This was a fact from the beginning, masks don’t really protect you but if you’re infected it helps stop the spread so nothing new here_niko
- And since most people spread it asymptomatically without knowing about it, it makes sense for all to wear it._niko
- I'd also suggest "normal" people in Denmark are a lot more socialy responsible than most Americans.BusterBoy
- I'm from Denmark and I'm sceptical about this study. We have generally had a much lower infection than other countries hence less chance to catch it in general.Nutter
