- version30
check again?
- OSFA0
yup. type needs to be a lil bigger. I just posted a comment too.

it looks fine to me now. will there be a recipe section where we can all provide easy-but-good recipes? also, is Michelle the person to ask a food question to?
- version30
thanks mayo, i don't see why not on asking Michelle about food. I'm sure between her and Doug and possibly Cinco de Mayo poking his head around your question will get answered by someone, the goal though is to keep the information and questions there so that they can be kept instead of archived.
Once activity in http://thefitvlub.net/ increases the site will be more specifically organized
thanks again for the input

;) thanks i just noticed that, looks like another long night for me

I might be able to help with food questions. I'm not an expert, but I cook a lot and I watch enough Food Network that I could probably host my own show. But I've done a good amount of research, so I'll try to help.
But I'm definitely on a health/get into shape kick at the moment, and eating is tough, but it's working. Just gotta alter your diet a bit, but it's not impossible.
Oh, and I created a little 3-month work out chart before I left work today. I'm no good with web or html but I could e-mail it to someone tomorrow morning so people can download it. It pretty much has weight info on it, and I'm planning on checking off the days I go to the gym and weigh myself. I think it'll help.
You guys want it?
- mayo0
thanks guys. I do a lot of cooking and have researched quite a bit also. My question is based on the research i've done. i'll try to formulate my question so it's not too wordy and then post it there.

cinco, you have mail

v4 has been doing an unbelievable job with the site!
Way to go man!
We'll be posting a small bit of info on it here and there for the next 2 days but we'll be gone from the 7-14.
I'm thinking posting some good guidelines for setting good goals.
A basic workout plan for a person to get started on in the gym.
And what do you think about having a monthly progress something or other. (not sure what to call it). At the beginning of the month I'll post a topic for this months goals. We set them, then at the end of the month check to see if we've gotten our goals or not.
What do you think?
Oh, and Point5... very good to see you on there. Thanks for helping out!!!

Just a thought:
Could we include a workout for those of us that don't belong to a gym? Or offer some home workout equivalents to the basic workout plan. Might help some people that need to squeeze in a workout whenever they have time. This will leave some options for when going to the gym is just not possible with deadlines and such.

(Jan 4 07, 08:06)Start by walking more often and parking further. I have a 4 floor garage at work, so I'm trying to park further away, and I'm only taking the stairs. Same goes for buildings and apartments. Just do a bunch of little things (besides maybe running, sit ups, etc.) and it'll help.

I think it would be cool to see workouts requiring no equipment. Like only simple sets of calisthenics. Or a workout routine for people way out of shape and starting slow would be. Posting the small multi meal example K0na posted here with notes on the substitutes he mentioned would be nice too.

(Jan 4 07, 08:06)I might post this later to thefitclub. For now...
What you'll need to buy: (It will help)
Resistance bands
1 small - medium sized medicine ball
1 medium sized exercise ball
5lb dumbbellsStick with core exercises.
with the resistance band do a standing chest press for 24 reps.
then go straight into pushups. put one hand on the floor, the other on the medicine ball. this will give you an uneven surface. do 5, switch hands with the ball, do another 5. repeat if you can.
when you switch hands don't get out of the pushup position. roll the ball over to your other hand, shift weight and get into position.
then go straight into a wide stance squat while holding the 5lb dumbbell in your right hand. kinda like this but hold it between your legs.
when you squat down the weight will touch the floor, when you squat back up raise the dumbell straight in front of you over your head. do 15. then switch arms and do the same thing.
this will be for the most part a good starting routine.
you can search online for a bunch of exercises you can do with the above items.

(Jan 4 07, 08:36)Noted. That's something we're working on. We're thinking of posting a 6 meal plan, giving options for protein, carbs, veggie and such for each meal so a person can pick and choose.
The problem is, serving size and the types of food should really be specific for each individual. It's so hard building a diet plan that works for everyone, because diet plans don't work for everyone. Some people need more carbs, some less, some need more good fats, some need less. It's very difficult ya know. We're trying to hammer one out though.

(Jan 4 07, 08:36)Pilates requires no weights. The whole philosophy is kind of acting like you are lifting weights by contracting your muscles and slowly doing some movement in a certain way, and other times being lose and and moving faster to burn I guess.
Here are some good DVD's:
Crunch: Burn and Firm
http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olsp…Crunch: Fat Burning
http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olsp…There was some weird one I had that I have no idea from where at the present moment.
Also, the Crunch ones are good but I've never tried this one...
Crunch: Pick Your Spot
http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olsp…So I imagine, it gets the job done ... in whichever spot you pick?
(My suggestion: G Spot, ah thank you.)

k0na, misses k0na and the rest of the fit crew...
What about maybe having different level sections on the site? You guys definitely seem like pros at this, but I'm on the beginners end. Maybe we have a beginner, intermediate, and expert level, where each would include different types of meal plans, different types of workouts, etc.
I just don't see myself preparing a hearty breakfast or 6 meals a day (although I do know I should...) but in time I might gradually build up to that.
Thoughts?
