Day two of the purge. Neighbors are coming by to collect plastic chairs, tools, old frames etc from the pile on the lawn. I got screamed at for letting someone walk away with a post hole digger while gf was being point person for dear old dad. There is a cat that runs in and out of the shed and a hole in the side of the house and now i know what the footprints were in the dust on too of the TV were. Trying to separate metal tools from all the debris piled on top of the rusted Jaguar in the carport. Overheard dad asking what kind of boyfriend I am while pulling out an old water heater to throw into the dumpster we rented. Hope I dont get shot.

I can't work out what's going on with the Balenciaga story. Is this the whole 'Cuties' argument again where people are getting all worked up saying 'art/fashion' is over sexualising children? We sometimes talk about censorship, but it seems we're doing it ourselves through outrage and misinterpretation more than anything else. But again, I don't get the whole story and can't be arsed to be trawling through pages and pages of yet more hate and projection to find out.

My sister takes a ton of decent photography, but she's currently only got it on Instagram. She's spent so much over the years on nice lenses for her Canon 5D, then only puts them on Insta. I said for christmas I'd sort her out a website which she could upload her photos and probably sell prints.
I was being a bit optimistic as I don't know where to start. Any ideas on where I can create a simple click portfolio site for her - with the option to buy stuff in there too?

Kitty doesn’t care for catnip vaporized with a volcano, and won’t even try a strongly brewed catnip tea. He seems equally pleased and affected by eating the stuff ground up, or having it powdered and rubbed into his fur.

Parents of QBN,
My 7 year old niece wants a switch for Xmas.
If I was her, I'd want a switch too.
But I can't help but think that it's a bit early for her, especially since she's a bit hyper and has a hard time focusing on something for too long, unless it's a screen, which tbh scares me.My sister (her mom) is a bit lax, so I gently push reading, curiosity and time away from a screen whenever possible.
Just don't want her to be a passive dummy.How do you see it affecting your own kids ?
I can see how games like Mario or Zelda (prob above her age) have redeeming qualities for a kid, requiring some reading and problem-solving that would certainly make for a less passive activity than cartoons.
Obviously not against games, just as afraid for her as I am in the subway when I see people glued to their phones.
- My rule has been screens on weekends only. Theoretically unlimited time, in practice we do more activities outside on weekends.palimpsest

As an aside to this, there was a guy I read a post from a while back somewhere who intrioduced his kid to gaming chronologically, starting with Pong, or whaatever, then Atari games, 8-bit Nintendos, etc, all the way up to contemporary games.I hope I have the patience to do something like that when my kid gets old enough.
I got my first computer when I was 6 or so, so as much as I'm wary about screen-time, it would be weird of me to deny my kid what I had at her age.
