Last week I buried my grandfather. RIP. He had a long life - turned 99 on October 1st. He had been through WW2.
If it wasn't for Covid, he might live to 100 and beyond. He is survived by his wife, my grandmother who will be 99 in March.I realized that I had lived less than half of their age. I feel like I've been around and have done a lot already. But I might be through only half of my life if we avoid WW3, global warming or other epidemics.
Although I lead an active lifestyle, my cognitive abilities started to decline. However, I do not feel old and not ready to contribute to "Signs you are getting old" yet.
Lately, I have had this on my mind: What will I be doing for the second half of my life?
There is plenty of content to consume, and there will be more. Will I spend my time in front of a computer as boomers spend in front of a tv? Metaverse?

My significant other died 3 days ago. I spent the last day and a half sitting in a chair next to the hospital bed holding hands and talking. Something very surreal about seeing a oxygen counter slowly go do and then the person you love is just gone.
All you had planed, all you had hoped for, gone and never coming back. We got 12 years together, I wish we had gotten more, but I'm grateful for what we got.
Enjoy your time together, you never know when its suddenly gone.

For me, "Devs" is one of the (if not THE) most beautiful and stylish series ever to grace the small screen. It looks absolutely stellar. Great soundtrack. Great story. So atmospheric. My only slight gripe is with the unneccesary ultra violence in some scenes.

My malinois thinks she is a shepherd through and through. All the dogs at the park? Everyone over there. Kids in the pet store? Let's huddle those together. Anyone barking or yelling? That will be enough of that. It doesn't matter how far I run her, she just wants more.
So, we found her a friend. A slightly larger shepherd mix. At six months younger and six pounds heavier, baby brother doesn't have the energy to keep up either. Can't win at tug of war, can't steal a dog bed, can't keep up running.
He's become nothing but a training / sparring partner for my self-proclaimed yard guard. It is funny to watch him just drop toys on her head when he's ready to play, though. The next 10 to 15 years should be fun.

It was 31 years ago this weekend I went to what was probably the 3rd loudest gig of my life - Motorhead & Pixies get the top spots, but this night really was special. Live sets from Tackhead and all manner of friends including Bomb The Bass.
