My partner's working in the fucking Atacama Desert for three weeks, whilst I sit here merely existing in Haringey, North London.
My state of mind alternates between sheer bloody envy and dark maudlin panic, depending upon whether she's sending me photos and videos of this beautiful mad max landscape mix of weird cowboy pseudo-Americana or alpacas at sunset; or - I don't hear anything from her, and my mind dwells on what she's told me about their cars getting broken into and all the decidedly dodgy crack heads that are ambling about thr frontier-esque town she's staying in. Last night in bed I dreamt her blood-curdling scream and imagined all the worst that you hear about from Mexico, five thousand miles or whatever to her North,. I know it's stupid, but jesus,. the mind can race sometimes.
Gringo-murdering* junky nutters aside, it looks beautiful.
Oh, and she's going to visit the cerro dominador solar project and those fucking telescopes they have over there. *I'm* supposed to be the nerd in this relationship. Why am *I* not there?! EN-VEE. nngh.

Been taking Lexapro since March for anxiety, but generally feeling pretty dull and low energy despite my anxiety being completely helped by it.
Therapist felt pretty sure I've got multiple characteristics of ADHD and while reading more about it over the past couple weeks, I checked so many boxes; inability to focus, busy mind, easily distracted, excited about things I want to do but never committing to doing them. For example, every day I tell myself I'm going to work on my music project at night, and every night I fail at doing it, month after month.
Talked to my doctor about Wellbutrin this week and added it to the mix a couple days ago. Holy hell, I feel like a totally different, better, more energized, more enthusiastic, more satisfied, more balanced person. I felt it kick in within hours. I can really feel the benefits right now - it's 5pm on a Friday, ordinarily I'd call it a day but I am so enjoying some coding work outside in my backyard, not even bothered by my kids inside arguing about toys, just completely content and locked in and focused on what I'm doing.
This combo is amazing. I can't remember the last time I felt this chill and even-keeled.

- It's been 4-ish days since starting it and I don't remember feeling this good since my 20s. It's wild. I'm finding myself so much less annoyed by a multitude...mg33
- of things that typically annoy me. So much more focused and less distracted. Watched two episodes of a show last night without barely ever reaching for my phonemg33
- to simultaneously half-watch the show and endlessly scroll an app or read crap on the web. it felt liberating.mg33
- Have you continued the Lexapro on a smaller dose? they prescribe Bupropion (generic Wellbutrin) for smoking cessation here. I stopped smoking (weed and tobaco)kingsteven
- recently (for the nth time) to help with anxiety but suspect i have undiagnosed ADHD. have been using weed to focus for 20 years but it's illegal here, kingsteven
- expensive, and we usually have no choice of strain so I need to try and convince my doc to get me on ADHD meds (without waiting years for assessment) i findkingsteven
- i'm not to keen on the idea of default anxiety/ depression meds that do nothing to help focus as not being able to focus is a big part of what makes me anxiouskingsteven
- I'm still on Lexapro 5mg. 10mg was too much. 5mg does just what I need it to do.mg33
- On Buspirone for anxiety now. Week 2. As usual, no real effect :-/jagara

I can’t believe the hoops a person has to jump through to get electricity in one’s garden shed in california. I have to track down blueprints, get a building permit (it didn’t have one apparently), have an inspection, hope they don’t tell me to tear it all down, get an electrical permit, hire a licensed contractor, then have him wank me around for a few thousand dollars.
I can do it myself in an afternoon with a hacked extension cable and like $20 in parts from home depot.

Will you stop listening to Kanye?
Do you still like Michael Jackson?
R Kelly?I still watch Cosby show sometimes. It took a few years before I could stomach it again, but once you just put your mind off his crimes, it’s still a really good show.
Same for Kevin Spacey. I don’t want to see those guys making new films and I would go see Cosby standup, but the stuff that is already on tape? It’s fine.

Further to Nb’s post below, Channel 4 (UK) are currently showing a programme (link below) called ‘Jimmy Carr destroys art’. The premise of the show being the destruction of genuine pieces of art by controversial artists.
The first Art-off is Rolf Harris vs Eric Gill....it’s fucking fascinating and not unlike an episode of Black Mirror.
They are currently putting Sally Mann’s nude image of her daughter up against Marcus Harvey’s Myra. I love Sally Mann and Marcus Harvey and think this show has jumped the shark.
