bit of a scoop here

Senate votes to keep daylight savings time permanent. This is just a tweet, so idk. But, I got it from hacker news. So, seems legit.

I ordered a geiger counter last night because I'm still buying stupid shit when I'm high, I need to stop

ever since those Avengers movies proposed the idea of multiverses and it became mainstream, a lot of people live in different realities for the past 5-6 years
"Alternative facts" and all that
You can see it all live on social or tv or even on the streets
decent people drowning in a sea of idiots...
We can have real peace worldwide if we all just go to therapy
- I'm ... not sure a superhero film series can really be held responsible for this ...Continuity
- Why not exactly?
But yes ofc not
it was a nice simple example of the multi-verse concept applied to real life in a way
wthout going full Metagrafician - Oh dear. The concept of alternate and parallel universes have been a — *mainstream* — trope for as long as there've been TV shows, films, and novels.Continuity
- Zoom out a bit Continuity, don't get cramped on the first sentence ;)grafician
- Use better analogies next time?Continuity
- lolfadein11
- It was a good analogy, you don't see anything like it before Marvel movies and Trump's presidencygrafician
- Someone wasn't paying attention during the Bush Jr years.Continuity
- no really check the news back then, all chill before Brexit, Trump, etc.
That was a major turning point
The return of the "us vs. them" politics and all thatgrafician - then the pandemic was a big reveal - who was who - basically all the masks were off
same countries, same cities, even same families but different realitiesgrafician - Yeah no, the Bush years were nothing like the mood todaygrafician
- < Anyway, this was just an observation...
Carry ongrafician - I would have just started with “trump’s presidency”... we know russia was actively trying to divide us and the whole “fake news/alt facts” thing came out thenscarabin
- Perhaps political climes forced us into escapist activities like comic books where good people still existscarabin
- I'm still struggling to see the connection with Marvel movies but the rest is valid and been spoken about for at least the last 8 years.fadein11
- Well, in many ways comics are based on real life politics
But yes, I should've started with mentioning trump, even tho' the mood was proceeding him by a bitgrafician - @fadein Marvel movies are highly propagandistic in many ways
It was just a simple comparison tho'grafician - Putin is/was a genius on some levels, his slow strategy of destabilising the West was his mission accomplished.fadein11
- yep fair enough, just don't think they have as much effect as rbillions of relentless, fake posts/ads from Russian troll farms over the last decadefadein11
- Not sure that is true, the West was already not a "stable genius" for a while - dysfunctional is the right word.
But now we are all united again. Vlad failed.grafician - of course, but salt into the wounds. It astounds me that people treat social media like a barometer for the state fo scoiety or whatever. The fact is the vastfadein11
- @fade maybe we personally have outgrown the world in a way, Idk
Meaning all the points we're discussing here are NOT easily understood by common folk these daygrafician - majority of western people are rational and don't give a fuck about what some pink haired teenager rants about in a lecture theatre in idaho. All that BSfadein11
- Literally I have to explain DAILY basic concepts to people and debunk fake news and propaganda nonstop
I'm just tired maybegrafician - was never a threat to western society but if you get your world view from twitter it may well have seemed so (if a little gullible).fadein11
- Here on QBN except for a few "alternative challenged" individuals, I believe we're a fairly decent and smart bunch of cunts
But outside...damngrafician - Russia used the tools very effectively with their US facilitators.fadein11
- pm me babes, these side notes aren't working :)fadein11

if we're switching to 4 day weeks what day you want free?
Friday or Monday?

- I would go for Friday. They are pretty unproductive anyway.Chimp
- ^ Go Monday then ... Fridays can remain unproductive so it'll feel like a 3 day week. Where do I sign up?MrT
- We have 4 year experience with Fridays off what got completely fucked with the pandemic, but its still visible how the productivity grew 9-12%sted
- But this move comes with the price of forcing active work hours from 4-5 to 6-7 hour. If you have already done that it's going to be hard as fuck to cultivate.sted

How much vacation time do you get? And how much do you use?
I get unlimited, but it's so hard to think of taking time off as there's so much to do.
- unlimited = unemployed or what?NBQ00
- LOLpalimpsest
- I normally take a month off in the late summer, 2 weeks at Christmas and then the odd occasional day here and there.Chimp
- I'm not broke, I'm doing unlimited fasting.palimpsest

- In the socialist hellhole of Denmark, 6 yearly weeks state-guaranteed vacation, not counting all the bank holidays. Great success.jagara

i had 26-21 when i wasn't employed by myself, now it doesn't matter how much i take out work finds me in every corner.sted - 30 days in commie France too.palimpsest
- That unlimited vacation time thing is a bullshit psychological trap. Up there with the pool table pictured on the career page that nobody has time to use.mort_
- @sted "lazy" = being on vacation 11.5% of the year. God forbid you do something else than work XDjagara
- In socialist Portugal we get 22 days a year. Sick leave over 3 days are payed by the state. You only get them after a doctor's appointment.dmay
- I used to have 30 days + national holidays + 1/2 day first friday of month + hours of 9 to 5 and no requirement for overtime.shapesalad

- In the National Catholic Basque Country... we work 24/7 all year to pay the vacations of you lazy socialists!OBBTKN

- In fact, and sadly... I've not stopped in the last 2 or 3 years :(OBBTKN
- About 3 weeks+, but you can easily use 4-6 in a calendar year if you do it right. Plus unlimited sick, floating holidays, dependent care time, etc.monospaced

I wonder what's up with the merry band of universally hated QBN members. Do they get off on being downvoted by a very small internet community? Why are they here, and not Twitter or something? At least their shitty opinions would get upvotes from the asshole community.
- negative attention is still attention. like kids who act out because their parents don't careimbecile

It's Wednesday and Uber/Eats has already sent me seven spams this week.
I take an Uber perhaps three times a year and I will not use UberEats. Ok, except for that one time I saw they delivered Wendy's (made in a dark kitchen under a bridge locally, rather than an actual takeaway so I can't pop in and buy direct) as I wanted to try it out. But other than that one time, no. I don't do that shit. [ > Signs your getting old ]

Netflix to crackdown on password sharing.

i don't like the way americans call earth "dirt". it's so demeaning to mother nature's bountiful generosity. dirt is bad, earth is good.

Backstory...I've been working on this startup with my brother for a LONG time. Last few months it has really started to take shape. Have received some funding etc etc...going OK.
But I'm on the verge of chucking it in. my brother has always been a bit of an arsehole...loves to make stupid little sarcastic comments and thinks he knows EVERYTHING...despite the fact he has NFI when it comes to design or tech...thinks his opinion is the only one that carries any weight.
Today has been close to the final straw. I'm just not sure I can be bothered dealing with his shit any longer. Seriously thinking I'd rather be doing something totally on my own than something with him.
Have refrained from responding to any of his petty shit this afternoon...I think I'll take the weekend to cool off and re-evaluate.

My sense of humor and my cynicism have so far saved my mood until now.
But, the job market, the bad economy and the massive hellish projects I've been involved in this past three years does'nt help, i feel i'm loosing it...

My cat won’t stop going down on himself. Every time he sits he goes to town, vigorously snorting and lapping away, sometimes for hours. i thought maybe he had worms or something so i took him to the vet and it turns out he’s fine.

Conversation i just had with a friend...
Him: Remember when you bought that boat because of this video?
Me: Yes, we were not good and I don't miss that boat, why?
Him: Do you still have your wakeskate?
Me: No.
Him: You might want to buy another one.
Me: What, why?
Him: I bought a way better boat!
