Ate shit on my bicycle and chipped a couple teeth and busted up my lip! Running around with a crazy face. Wild how people treat you differently when you're defaced/deformed/marked/plagued.
Thankfully it's only temporary... I sympathize with people who have real dental problems. Take care of your teeth!

Barely sleeped two hours, no hungover, coz prob. I'm still drunk. Been until very late partying with my wife and friends...
Before my body wakes, I lit the bbq, prepared the meat and we are going to get a good lunch, chat with daugthers and go to sofa and die looking at a bike race on tv.
Have a nice do-nothing sunday mates!

Stayed at some friends to watch the election at my home country.
Got fucking drunk so quick i haven't noticed that it's 6am already.
We talked all night long about everything, and nobody cared the results.
Now have to go to work. fml

dear god, you sure didn't forget it was columbus day if you went on facebook today. virtue signalling out the wazoo.
what a huge fuss to make over a holiday that is probably the least celebrated day in the US.
some people better get some land back or all these facebook posts will be in vain. utterly in vain.

Used to be addicted to QBN when I worked dead end jobs in London in my 20s. I left it behind years ago and now, approaching middle age, I have no source left for hipster cool. So I started logging in for the "Album of the year" threads and people's opinions on films and TV shows but now i'm reading everything, constantly, everyday, oh my fucking god.

Printshop delivery just arrived with 5.000 promotional brochures for the agency I work for. I think it's been like 2 years since the last time we printed something here besides business cards and stickers. Feels so good! The smell of the ink... good ol print <3

I think this has been answered before but how would you go about dealing with pessimist co-workers.
I started my new gig yesterday and I have to collaborate with another designer who complains a lot.
He prefers to use Figma over Sketch because of certain features and refused to switch over for a long time. Jokes on him, if you know how to use one, the other will be easy to pick up and vice-versa.
Learning a new tool should be seen as adding another skill under your belt, keeping you up to date, and in turn make you a more valuable asset to your team. Why would you complain about something like that?!!?</rant>
- Tell him, "Wait till you use Invision, you'll really be complaining..."robotron3k
- Figma is buggy as hellChuckJones
- Sounds like there's a back story tha might be relevant to you in your new role - get to the root of their negativity and head that shit off at the pass.Nairn
- Why would you try to get a coworker to switch software on your first day?zarkonite
- I didn't ^ it's what they've been using at the company for a bitMaaku
- oh ahaha sorry, I thought you were trying to get him to switch to Sketch out of nowhere =)zarkonite

- if it's martin parr, it's a question of waiting for the right moment. ie timing. or just getting luckyhans_glib
- or take several shots and put them together.pango
- I don't see how this is staged, please explain.deadsperm
- each person was shot individually against a green screen and then comp'ed togetherBluejam
- Bluejam with the facts!
+1deadsperm - doesn't have to be staged.pango
- Stop with them lies, pango!deadsperm
- Shot on overcast day, soft shadows, studio lighting, and tons of patiencerobotron3k
- There's a huge component of luck in that one shot.maquito
- I don’t believe Martin Parr stages his scenes or uses studio lighting. It wouldn’t be too much of a stretch to get a shot like this in England.spunji
- https://www.martinpa…spunji
- Martin Parr is a betting man, don't go down that path.deadsperm
- I'm didn't say it is staged. It just looks staged and was wondering what it was 'technically' about it makes it look staged.Hayzilla

- Sometimes it's just seeing something and getting i. I shot this through a tiny bathroom window from the 4th floor of an office building: https://flic.kr/p/eG…evilpeacock
- Everything must be in focus, for onedrgs
- Probably a comp of multiple photos. Every group/person is active/emotive creating a vignette like you'd see in an classical paintingmonNom
- infinity focuscanoe
- multiple shots in placeumbee54
- Vantage point counts for a lot.ben_
- right ben_
He captures shots like these with a long lens. Longer focal lengths compress the composition and can achieve a surreal lack of DOF.jdascher1200 - + decisive momentjdascher1200
- It's not an amazing photograph I just love the shot. I think monNom is right, it's the classical painting look. I also think it's a comp.Hayzilla
- @evilpeacock That's either the smallest 4th floor in the world or you linked the wrong image.Hayzilla
- All i see is a random pic that anyone could have shot with his phoneBennn
- When you shoot on cloudy days it looks like studio lightingrobotron3k
- @Hayzilla Bizzare, that isn't even my photo — I have no idea how I even got the link to that. THIS is my photo... https://flic.kr/p/eG…evilpeacock
- ^Cool pic. I thought house was weird too. Hahafuturefood
- I remember reading interview where Parr would take multiple exposures of scenes then masks away unwanted bits. This gives every subject that same exposure lookfuturefood
- @jd yep, and being slightly but noticeably higher than anyone else's eye level gives a greater sense of it being "staged".ben_
- There's an entire subreddit called "Accidental Renaissance" that has stuff like this all the time. I love the one taken near my office in Manchester.zarb0z

This lady at work just stated that water is dry. My answer was that I had been drinking water for more than a decade and I can attest that water is wet. She said I was just drinking wet water cause I couldn't handle it dry. I told her that if I couldn't handle dry water it's because water is wet.
Her response:
Glad we agree on that, if not on how dry water can be.- To save weight, I bring dry water with me when camping. Just mix as I need it.Gnash

Working on lap top on sofa, cant drag and drop, think trackpad is giving up the ghost, struggle through for a couple of hours then:
My bluetooth mouse is buried under paper on my desk upstairs and has been left clicking all morning.
Happens every couple of months and not once have I realised whats going on. FFS
- please report to 'Signs your geting old thread'Bluejam
- Lol, happens too often to meGnash
- "Old man yells at cloud"
; )ideaist - try using the 3-finger drag option for the trackpad so you don't have to press and drag at the same timemonospaced
- ^ i've never been able to grasp the gestural stuff on the trackpad... i just turn it all off.kingsteven
- my girlfriend gets so irked by me physically clicking on the trackpad rather than tapping... so i must continue...kingsteven
- oh man, the gestures are what make work possible! Trust me, it's worth learningmonospaced
- I don't think I've EVER used the trackpad press click before. It's so impractical. Tap to click and three-finger drag are absolutely necessary without a mousemonospaced

I'm going to assume by [ again ! ] you mean she's dealing with alcoholism to some degree, so have some first-hand advice:Stop covering for her. Don't make excuses, don't try to bargain, don't downplay the seriousness of it. And don't be quiet. Talk to your friends about it. Talk to *her* friends about it. The sooner she's exposed, the sooner she can start getting treatment for it.
The alternative is to leave and let her crash and burn. Until she wakes up in hospital with a broken leg or gets fired or something, she won't accept there's a problem or consequences or that she's not in control of it.
I got my bf into addiction sessions a year ago but his drinking only got worse over the summer, and the withdrawal symptoms came faster and harder, so I finally stopped covering for him. I felt better being able to tell people what I was dealing with, and his friends sprang into action and we got him into AA. He's been sober 60 days and it's almost like the last two years didn't happen.
- "talk to your friends about it" this is what QBN is great for. Amazing advice monk. way to step up and offer wise words for a fellow member_niko
- It sounds stupidly obvious when you say it, right? But my instinct was to help him hide it.i_monk
- And every "what to do when your ___ is an alcoholic" site I checked had to spell out the importance of it.i_monk

My daughter finished her last day of school EVER today! Was followed by the obligatory posts from "proud parents" on social media. We've made quite a few lifelong friends with parents of our kids.
But reading some of the rubbish some people post...makes me laugh.
"No more school fees. YAY"...posted by people that I know the grandparents have paid for every cent of the kids educations!! It really is funny.
And yes...private school fees here are FARKEN expensive!
- Fuck yeah they are!robotron3k
- Congrats! My one is freshman in college now & second is a junior in H.S. Do you guys live in bad school district? Wondering why you guys chose private schoolHijoDMaite
