We're slowly getting new laptops at work and I might have gotten the most maxed out MBP possible:
2019 MBP
2.4Ghz i9
32GB RAM
Radeon Pro Vega 20 4 GBI had one of the 2015 MBP's that fortunately didn't have battery issues, but had gotten so slow lately. Pumped to have this new one.
- My 2017 MBP (work provided) is almost the same, but has a 2.9Ghz i9 and the 4GB card is a Radeon Pro 560Xmonospaced

Do any of us here have apps on the market??
Would be cool to have an app thread of advice on making/launching them...
- make sure it's just not environmental related. you could get wrapped up in a conspiracy.inteliboy

- did you get them at the same time?bezoar
- I ask cuz my son wants a dog, I want a cat. thinking about getting both.bezoar
- Got the cat 4 years ago and the pup only 10 months ago. The reason they're great together is the dog was introduced as a puppy so she kinda 'knows her place'.PonyBoy

Anyone in here using a Microsoft Surface with Illustrator + pen to draw?
- Anyone ever tried running Illustrator on a Surface Go 8Gb ??Bennn
- It's got a very, very slow processor, and only 2 cores. Slower than most processors used in laptops the last decade. But it should work for Illustrator, slowly.monospaced
- Surface pro 4 here, no problemo...OBBTKN
- The new surface pro are so priceyBennn
- Surface Pro and Surface Go are very very different machines.monospaced
- Yeah, I know mono, I would not buy a S Go for tasks with Adobe CC... Why not get a refurb / used one?OBBTKN
- Yeah maybe refurbished Pro6Bennn

Just sat down to see Joker. By myself, not many people in the theater. Can’t wait to see this.
- Some guy is reading the movie description to his older mother in a row in front of me. The old mom goes “it’s not a true story is it?”mg33
- And a host just came in and introduced the movie as “Joker, starring Robert DeNiro.” LOLmg33
- the theatre has a host? ??pango
- Pango, like an usher or something. She introduced the movie and gave the “see something say something” bitmg33
- I have seen other movies at this theater, but have never had someone introduce it like that.mg33
- Middle class / semi-affluent town of about 47,000 in Chicago’s north suburbs for some context.mg33
- how was it? or is it still going?Krassy
- that announcement is happening across many theaters for this movie in particular to hopefully thwart another Colorado theater shooting (dude dressed as joker)PonyBoy
- Why would they say Robert deniro? That makes no sense.monospaced
- he's in the movieIRNlun6
- I thought the movie was fantastic. I love Joaquin anyway but I do think his acting was extra superb in this one.noRGB

I know it's related to "signs your getting older" thread... But, my patience is running out fast this days. I should go to a lost convent to meditate like my friends do...

Just checked apartment prices in NYC again. Just insane.
Some small 1br in the West Village is almost $4000

- There are parts of Manhattan still affordable to rent. Certainly not the West Villagenb
- Salaries are adjusted for this. The rent alone isn’t the whole picture. You don’t have to make ends meet on a Texas salary in nyc for example.monospaced
- My company pays employees almost double for living in nyc or sf than they do for Oklahoma. Cost of living blah blahmonospaced

If you like photography books you might want to see the new one by Stefan Rappo. I wrote a fee lines about it in my blog:
https://www.simonbolz.com/blog/i…The book is published by teNeues and so ridiculously inexpensive, it’s a bit unfair for self-publishers like me.

The nature and fresh air must’ve been amazing when dinosaurs lived around 65 million years ago. I wonder how nice it would be to breathe that air now.
- It was a hot, dry desertHayoth
- It would likely feel like metallic burn on the insides of your throat - like when you do too much nitrous - due to the higher oxygen levels. So, not lovely.Nairn

Just read a local news story about a person (a man, if that matters) who died in a car accident. The story said the person was not wearing their seat belt.
That absolutely blows my mind. Most of us on here remember a time when seat belts weren't always worn. But, nearly every car built in the last 20 years (this car was) makes all sorts of annoying sounds if you don't buckle up. Hell, mine starts going nuts before I get out of my driveway if it's not buckled.
Which, makes me assume that this individual either dealt with the annoying sound (unlikely), unplugged a fuse (assuming that's an option), or buckled it behind their seat.
I can't help but wonder why someone would not wear a seat belt. It's as automatic as closing the door to the car for me. There is a 0.001% chance it will trap you in an accident. But, that's such an outside chance that it's completely ridiculous to consider. Why on Earth would a person not buckle up?

Read yesterday on the Instagram feed of my son's football club that a parent of one of the lads at the club had just died from cancer. Terrible...he was only 45. Recognised his face but didn't know him or the son personally.
Told my wife...she says "what was his name"?
Told her...she responds with "that was an ex-boyfriend of mine...we dated for 4 years".

Could use some advice:
I came up with a idea at work and created the first mockup of it. I presented the idea, everybody loved it (our created director even crashed the meeting because he saw it through a glass wall and was excited about it). I then briefed a co-worker who created a 3d mockup of it.
Now whenever people mention the idea, they refer to the guy who did the 3d mockup as if he did all the work. This includes my closest project manager, the creative director ect.
I think my co-worker did an awesome job, but he would never have gone in that direction unless I'd come up with it. For now I've not said anything about it, and I don't want to sound petty but it just feels weird. Should I mention it or would that just be seen as petty?
- You're damned if you do
and damned if you don'tutopian - i'm missing the part how that co-worker presented the mockup?sted
- also what about the details behind that mockup? it is still just a muckup not a developed idea/product why bother just say nice work to him.sted
- And ask to move forward with your idea.sted
- well word spread and it was shown to people who passed by, he also he wrote a internal blog post about it with a video. The video was presented by the CD.Nutter
- ask him to update the blogpost and mention your part in the work. make it easy for him to do it.uan
- To be honest, he's an asshole if he doesn't give you the credit you deserve. It's called integrity.Maaku
- Yes, happens tons. This what you need to do, forget about getting credit, what's done is done. You need to get better at promoting yourself, think hard...robotron3k
- perhaps your timidness held you back or you were naive to think you would get credit. Also, you need to understand what people think of you there to help changerobotron3k
- Make a Tshirt with the original idea on it and big bold copy saying "MY IDEA" and wear it to work. In fact, get 5 made, wear one each day of the week.microkorg
- yourself and improve your ability to sell your ideas. It's happened to me tons, it's not a big deal, you just need to recover. One thing to note, this IS yourrobotron3k
- portfolio piece, so make sure you get the best versions and include the process how you came up with your idea. BTW, if this is a good piece, you could get arobotron3k
- better job from it and you could also remake yourself in the process and learn how to get credit for your ideas. Hope that makes some sense... Gluck!robotron3k
- Forget it. Job is to get a stable, easy income while you build your own portfolio of income streams including investments.shapesalad
- All the focus on getting credit for your idea. Pointless. Also you should learn 3D now, so next time you can by pass that guy.shapesalad
- Ideas are easy - realization of ideas is very hard. You can do ideas, that’s evident, now learn the hard part. Then you will be invaluable and can earn more.shapesalad
- You say the coworker would have never gone in the direction without your idea. Equally your idea would never be a reality were it not for his skills.shapesalad
- Skills can be learnt. So learn the skills. Combine with your ability to find good ideas. And then this sorry mess will never happen again. Step up your game.shapesalad
- Welcome to the club. Pal!
XD T_Tpango - I've had the opposite experience. Coworker botched a film job, and upon review I realized that he put my name on the film logs.garbage
- He tried to pass off his mistakes as mine, and the ensuing conversation I had with him had some Tony Soprano vibes.garbage
- Figure out an organic way to "own" it in a future meeting/communal space, by propelling the project forward yet again asapBrokenHD
- The bigger the company, the more optics matter.DRIFTMONKEY
- Thanks for the advice, think I'm gonna make a write a internal blog part about the design though behind it. Competitor analysis, possibilities, why this makesNutter
- us stand out ect. Then just add a link at the bottom of his post, that if you would like to know more about the process then read this.Nutter
- I'd love to see this killer idea you can't wait to get credit for. Just do the work. Carry on.robthelad

F+W Media filed for Chapter 11 on March 10, 2019.
As a result, HOW Design, Print and their affiliated web sites are no longer in business.
The HOW Design Live Event is not part of the F+W bankruptcy, and is still scheduled for May 5-7, 2020

Should I go see Gemini Man in 3D this weekend? I haven’t been to a 3D movie in like 15 years and I hated it. I think it was one of the Lord of the Rings
