I always wonder how many of the people who were banned, or left, actually still lurk.. clearly banned people tend to sneak back in.. but people who just disappear.. are they still watching? or have they just checked out ..

    • Those that lurk will read this and those that don't will not. That's how I see it anyway.eryx

May have some good news this week – they've made me an offer, details still to be hammered out. 4 month contract to start. I'll have to give up freelancing at the studio I really like, but maybe I can leverage this to get back in there permanently post-contract.

LinkedIn is determined to ..er.. determine whether or not I know someone I had an interview with about 17 years ago. Presumably my email is in the person's address book, which is why it's asking me, but it's asked me about 12 times this year already.

    It's a bit desperate.

    • i "deleted" my account at least ten years ago, i still receive an occasional spam from them...renderedred
    • I deleted my account last year, then had to sign up for it again a month or so later when some guy in India made himself a director in my business.Nairn
    • Can any old chump make themselves a director of your business with Linked In?!Ianbolton
    • Apparently, and if you're not on LinkedIn there's no recourse to boot them off. A[nother] nice dark pattern they have there...Nairn

IG is the first and only social media tool I was/am addicted to.
I would go to bed scrolling through Instagram, and grab my phone as soon as I woke up to scroll through the updated feed as I took my early morning dump. I was out of control, so on Friday night I temporarily disabled my account and deleted the app from my phone.

I saw myself grabbing the phone many times, forgetting I didn't have that pass time anymore. It's crazy how much time we dedicate to these things.

I will most likely go back it, I'm a visual guy and it helps with inspiration. But for now, I'm enjoying the lack of memes and other garbage. I encourage you to do the same for a couple of days.

    • go back to it*Maaku
    • I "use" IG to stay informed on bands I like dropping merch and albums. But one weekend I started liking a bunch of cars, and now my feed is now 100% cars.DRIFTMONKEY

    • you're polluting your brain with dozens of images per minutes, images you're "looking" at for a mere 0,35 sec in average. You're not really getting inspiration.Bennn
    • You're just overloading your brain with rapid information. You wont be able to concentrate on anything later.Bennn
    • ^ that's similar to what was said about books and now look how fucked up we are because of books.Ianbolton
    • lol i dont think so ianbolton, comparing books and IG is stupidBennn
    • I totally agree with BennnDRIFTMONKEY
    • So do I, I was pissing about. But suggesting we're overloading the brain is pretty stupid.Ianbolton
    • ^ actually, Ian is right. There was a time when the ‘experts’ thought books were polluting the the minds of the new generationGnash

    • Books is the wrong metaphor. IG is at best like reading 30 haikus a minute. At worst, it's like reading pretty sounding words that don't actually say anything.monNom

i wanna rag on MMA for a bit.. hope you don't mind. it stems from this asshole i knew back in the day who hated me, and threatened me all the time, and was totally into fighting, and eventually became an MMA fighter. Coincidence? Anyway, calling it an art is as ridiculous to me as calling it a sport or even self-defense for that matter. i'm pretty sure when he was threatening me he wasn't asking me to play his sport, nor was he practicing self-defense, and he definitely wasn't making art. MMA just breeds people who want to kill each other - and without a ref in the ring - they actually would. Is this art? Is it beauty? I don't see it. And if a couple guys do this in a bar or on the street is it still art? a sport? beautiful? my point is this a stupid coverup for being an asshole under the hood - spreading violence by glorifying it. it's a disgusting activity and there is no art to it - it's simply wanting to rip the other person's head off. i say take the ref out out of the picture!

and the company 'Tapout' that makes the stupid t-shirts - did they even notice they were essentially calling their company 'Losing'.. b/c that is what tapping out is in MMA. so everytime i see one of those MMA thugs wearing that shit I can't help but laugh

    • when one guy taps out, the other one winsmonospaced
    • But c'mon, fighting techniques are learned, practiced, and eventually mastered, like any "art" is. And most any competition is a sport, by definition.monospaced
    • There's no connection that MMA causes more violence in the world, either. Just like there isn't for video games. If anything it's an outlet for some.monospaced
    • the art of killing someone with your bare hands?! whatever you say mono.. i don't agreebliznutty
    • Yes, that's not only an art, there are many many forms of it going back to the beginning of time. And they're all sports. You don't have to agree, but it's truemonospaced

    • Bliz > just because you've been involved in some form of bullying doesn't represent the entire world of martial arts. Most of these sports are based around...Ianbolton
    • years of discipline. Some of my friends who practice Jiu Jitsu and it's like their meditation. In most ways it allows people to CONTROL their aggressionIanbolton
    • Change your mind or carry on thinking all martial ARTS are bad, therefore having the wrong view on thousands of years of human developmentIanbolton
    • https://gfycat.com/c…bliznutty
    • LOL MMA isn't art (fine art nor "the arts"). It's just a name. Other martial arts may have varying levels of art included in their discipline, hence the name.nb
    • I'm not making a blanket statement about all martial arts. MMA is sport, not art. Puhlease.nb
    • Just because you work hard at something, or are dedicated, or even inventive... it doesn't make it art. Everything isn't art.nb
    • yes it is thoughmonospaced
    • Martial crafts may be more appropriate than art, but it's semantics at the end of the day.fadein11
    • As someone who studied judo and aikido for 20 years and sees the beauty in the mindset behind them, I think MMA is a bastardization of the forms.ben_
    • It's cage fighting for the sake of gambling, nothing more than that. There are some really skilled fighters, but like the name suggests, it's not about...ben_
    • the philosophy of the form itself. I'll co-sign that the majority of people attracted to fighting in it are lunatics.ben_
    • The three worst students at my dojo, the ones that were out to hurt people constantly are now in it.ben_
    • and yeah, "tapout" shirts are fuuuuucking stupid.ben_
    • uh art is an abstract concept which ones chooses to label. one can label it many other things and its all in the eye of the beholderdeathboy
    • like questioning wether playing fortnite is art. just a bad question. it is what it is and whatever it is to others. you don't need to care about itdeathboy
    • unless you have vested interested in betting on how others may perceive it.deathboy
    • Except that "art" in the case of "martial arts" refers specifically to a skill acquired through practice. There's literally no martial art that is based upon...ben_
    • the definition you're talking about.ben_
    • haha ben what is playing a game everyday if not practice? Hell even trolling can be an art. dont be a meathead thinking your art is any different.deathboy
    • I'm not defending MMA or fighting as my "art", quite the opposite. I'm pointing out that there are different definitions of art, and that you are...ben_
    • confusing them into one. The abstract concept of "Art" is not the same as the pursuit of consistency and form "art"ben_
    • just because someone is proficient at something, like a "sandwich artist" for instance, doesn't make their output "Art".ben_
    • You, and the OP can debate what is "Art" all you want, but the definition of martial arts is rooted in the opposite of self expression.ben_
    • And just because I've studied two forms for years, that makes me a meathead? Interestingly close-minded theory from someone so enlightened.ben_
    • thank you ben!bliznutty

Was driving into work this morning and some douche was riding my ass. It's a 40 mph zone, and I'm going my usual 48. So, I'm not exactly putting along.

I come up to my exit, which is a 90 degree right turn. As I'm slowing down, Mr. impatient decides he can't take it anymore, and goes around me on the left. The area to the left is a yellow crossed off area before the next exit. Also, it's where all the shit from the road collects.

Apparently this idiot didn't see the muffler and 3/4 of an exhaust lying there, because he smashed right into it, lodged it underneath his car, and rode probably 100 feet before stopping. I didn't see the aftermath, since I was turning. But, it sounded pretty nasty. Karma's a bitch, bitch!

Sup Q-bees the wife and I are in Rome and we wanted to spend a chill evening before we do all the crazy tourist stuff tomorrow. Any recommendations on a hip spot to eat or a cool artsy neighborhood that we can check out? Maybe even a bar with music or dare I say, house music club? Last thing I want to do is eat at a nasty place or waste time looking for stuff tonight.

Thought maybe you guys could hook me up with a trendy spot to impress my baby. :) TIA!

Btw I’ve been in Tuscany for a week and shot a wedding at a villa, holy fuck what an experience!
