How many of you using desktop computers have them powered by a UPS? It has been so long since I had one, got a new iMac last week and realized, ah... yep, one more thing to buy. I don't want to return to the days of power outages losing anything I'm working on.

    • I have one, but it just dies last week. I need to order a new battery for it.Gnash
    • have the desktop and external drives plugged into it. enough juice to save and shut down properlyGnash

Just had a gadgie in picking up some wedding-related cuts for his daughter. We're having a chat and he drops in "..and my daughter has a little cockapoo..", which if - like me - you have no idea what a 'cockapoo' is describes any number of mental images and inappropriate follow-up questions to not ask a proud father.

It's a dog cross-breed. My brain work that out just quick enough.

    • "gadgie" - hahah love itrobthelad

Serious question for any amateur bakers out there:
What should I add to my oatmeal raisin cookies if they're too dry? More butter?

just thinking out loud from something i saw earlier in the day.

the kids and i drive past this construction site everyday. but today there was a rat patrol truck out front with 4-5 union workers perhaps... picketing - protesting - the construction site while sitting in lawn chairs.

I thought... should i yell at them to get a job? should i tell them to get up off their asses and stand? should i yell at them that all workers matter?

if i were to post this on facebook with any one of those phrases above i'd be eviscerated. yet, an nfl player can't kneel in protest of oppression.

    to that i say ha.

    • what is Rat Patrol -- is it a pest management company? i'm confused.Gnash

if you get hired at a job full time, discuss wages verbally and agree on a hourly wage then find out 3 months later you've been shorted $1.50 per hour can you sue? nothing was in writing.

    chances of winning?

    • not written will be hard to fight. can you ask what happened first and see if it was an oversight on another department?capn_ron

I've only done a 5k once in my life.

Yesterday I signed up for the Spartan Race, totally different but fuck it, I've always liked a good workout. Doing it as an individual.

It's in 3 weeks and I need to train. That should keep me busy from overthinking stuff.

Has anyone done obstacle courses? How was it?

Went to a concert last night, solo. Met a girl who was also there solo. We danced and flirted and at the end of the show when she suggested we have more drinks... I literally turned and ran. Because I'm married and I shouldn't have been flirting in the first place.

I can still smell her perfume though.

I had went to a Reproductive Specialist about a month ago for semen analysis. I was led to down long hallway into a small room. Dark wood furniture, slate colored wallpaper, floral arrangement, vanity sink, dark leather love seat, small stack of magazines in the end table drawer, large flatscreen t.v. with dvd player. While I appreciated the supplied materials, I had already cued up my own vid selection on my phone. It was a good session.

Today I went to the same building, but was brought to a different room a mere 15 ft from the front desk. White walls, white tile floor. "Hospital Art" on the walls, light tan leather love seat, a huge stack of light blue absorbent pads, a jumbled basket of specimen jars and a clipboard carefully placed on top of the magazines. NO fucking signal to visit Krystal Boyd's greatest hits. 'Twas a bit nostalgic jerkin it raw to a penthouse.

Later had blood drawn in the next room over.

Finding out the problem with sending html mails for job applications is the always present risk of getting sorted as spam.

So trying to learn what causes this and editing the html mail to go through. Always feels weird when you have to call to ask if they actually have recieved the job application.

Anyone have any experience in getting mails through spam filters?

I've just read somewhere that someone has had great success charging clients $3k to make them SquareSpace sites.

    • well done themhans_glib

    • I've charged £1k to do sqaurespace sites a few times now. The amount of time spent on creating and managing it, in the end I think I probably undercharged..set
    • ^ are you using the developer version ?Gnash
