Many people will die anyway if we do a lockdown or not. But shutting down like this for more than 1 month will fuck this civilization beyond imagination.
We don't live in the wild anymore.
But let's see, I hope the 'experts' of our governments know what they're doing.
- nothing is going to happen to civilization. I think it's a good practice. ppl lived in shelters in world wars. This is not even at that scaleBeeswax
- The goal is not to stop the virus, it can't be stopped. The goal is slow the contamination rate because hospitals can't manage the quantity of sick coming in.deadsperm
- I don't know why that's so hard to understand, just look at Italy.
It's not the end of the world but we need to take very drastic measures to control it.deadsperm - exactly, deadsperm, we must keep our eye on the reduction of deathmonospaced
- still baffled why people cannot understand this deadspermfadein11
- I've been holding my tongue for the last days reading the analysis from QBN experts these last days.deadsperm
- The civilization will be ok NBQ00, the economy and employment tho....Bennn
- Our civilisation IS The Economy.Nairn
- As a civilization bonus, pollution is way down, CO2 emissions have plummeted, and it’s so much quieter outside.Gnash
- Yep and animals are back in some cities, check it out on boredpandaBennn
- Everybody wants to change the world but nobody wants to change.deadsperm
- Except the dinosaursGnash
- LOL
Those fucking dinos!deadsperm - Actually it's people's refusal to accept evolution & the fact that dinosaurs do change that got my panties in a bunch.
But I got your comment :Ddeadsperm

Not sure if this was posted already, but it looks like the first home testing kits will be available on Monday, 4 days from now, for $135. Hopefully this will help in the tracking and isolation of the virus, as well as the lives of many thousands of people.
- why would someone downvote this?monospaced
- ^ Maybe because capitalismGnash
- Trump told all of us at least a dozen times that the test kits would be free for everyone and be available two weeks ago.utopian
- How’s a family of 5 without work going afford that? The privileged get the edgeGnash
- i read somewhere that one might need 2 test to make absolute sure if the 1st test comes out negativescruffics
- Well shit. I thought it was a good thing. STUPID ME!monospaced
- Not stupid, just privilegedGnash
- I’d rather pay than line up to enter a room where thousands of infected people have been. I could probably have my insurance cover it in a claim after.monospaced

Although all of this might seem overwhelming, the numbers are a little bit less bad when you break them down.
https://www.worldometers.info/co…
So there are currently 228,020 known cases in the entire world. But out of those, almost half have already recovered.
The current number of infected is 132,721. But out of those, the vast majority are not life-threatening.
The current number of serious cases in the entire world: 6,941
The vast majority of serious cases right now are in China, Italy, France, Spain and I'm assuming Iran (although Iran not reporting those numbers).
Belgium is also reporting a lot of critical cases, currently ahead of the the USA.

Some of you who are worrying incessantly should watch this.
I would start around 4:15- Message to the "real doctor" get off youtube and go be of some actual use to people.ben_
- I want to reinforce one point he makes that stats are based on KNOWN cases and are never going to be well-represented because they're mostly severe cases.SteveJobs
- How many more people with mild symptoms are not getting tested and skewing the numbers to make things look bleak? This is why I don't focus on death rate stats.SteveJobs
- ben_, calming the masses isn't providing actual use? That seems a bit negative and dramatic.SteveJobs
- Is he calming anyone or is it confirmation bias? Should we believe youtubers over actual, proven healthcare workers with field experience?ben_
- Seems a bit juvenile and asinine.ben_
- For the record any post or comment I’ve made on this is to keep a level head.ben_
- You should take information from everywhere and apply it as needed to your situation. If it's helping some people I think that's of value.SteveJobs
- I agree. Except I try to take information from sources that don’t make asses of themselves online for ratings. Maybe it’s his delivery or maybe that points he’sben_
- making are already inaccurate. I can agree to disagree with you on this guy’s value, so if he helps you, great.ben_
- Yeah I'm sure you mean well, I just think one does more damage, ironically, with those words in times like this where people are looking for reassurance. :)SteveJobs
- See, that’s where we differ. I’m guessing my words “don’t listen to this youtuber” will do less damage than the false assurances he’s offering will.ben_
- I get people need to feel hopeful, and they should. This guy has a patreon account... I’m sorry.ben_

Someone infected trained at my MMA school 2 times last week and probably infected other students. I don't train for the moment, good thing. The school has closed since the event but they just got the info about that infected student. This is how that thing is spreading.

How U.S. coronavirus testing stalled: Flawed tests, red tape and resistance to using the millions of tests produced by the WHO
We need to thank this Trump Crony - Robert Redfield, director of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Robert has been praising almighty Trump since the inception of the virus. The CDC has been doing a tremendous perfect job and has the Chinese virus totally under control, believe me.

- The Chinese got a pass for the contagion of 1918, we called it the Spanish flu. https://en.m.wikiped…robotron3k
- Would be best to name it regionally as most historic pandemics have originated in China; Asian 1956, Hong Kong 1968, Russian 1977, Avian 1997, SARS 2002, etc.********
- "Asian fever" might be a good name for a flu. Has it been used before?robotron3k

"As we all take precautions to protect ourselves and others from the spread of coronavirus, we can’t forget hungry kids.
Nearly 22 million low-income kids from communities across the country rely on the free and reduced-price meals they receive at school. For many, these meals may be the only nutritious food that they’ll receive on a given day.
With schools either closing or weighing the option to do so in districts nationwide, children may be left without that critical lifeline to healthy meals."
