got my second moderna shot a couple days ago and still recovering
the masks debate is interesting to me because the CDC is basically just giving out scientific data and the biden administration has all but re-focused on things like israel and the infrastructure plan in terms of political capital - i'd be very surprised to see them turn on a heel and getting back into the mandate debate.
this, understandably, leaves a large part of the electorate concerned over 'mixed messages' or whatever, when really it's quite clear: the people who are necessary for the economy to function are, for the most part, now in the clear, and the US doesn't give a fuck about the rest.
that's, ironically, what normalcy in the US looks like, that's what the administration has been trying to get to. like hurricanes katrina and sandy, shootings at sandy hook and countless other schools, cops murdering people in the street on video and using war-crime grade munitions on citizens, the coronavirus pandemic response will continue to normalize a state response to dire situations in the US where only the economically viable are considered, and any objection to the handling will be disregarded as radical / anti-patriotism, anti-democratic, or based in conspiracy.
so i dunno, like, everyone's getting really excited to return to normal while i'm busy thinking, doesn't anyone realize what opportunities were missed? everyone is so eager to get back to a complete horrorshow of ignorance, they all seem like cypher in the matrix, sitting and eating that fucking steak.
