Our eldest daughter has accepted a job offer closer to home, full-time, double the salary, promotion opportunities, ongoing training... Amazing!
The only catch? A three-month trial period (paid), and she loses her previous job.
A mix of happiness and nerves!

I'm just back from a digging trip down south and met the chap in charge of the Creative Void studio gallery in Milton Keynes. They have offered me the chance to create a display later in the year of my more esoteric record sleeves and to also play the records from them during the show. This is RIGHT up my street as I approached a few galleries and libraries about this idea a few years ago in Scotland and got nowhere, but Milton Keynes have given me the thumbs up so of course if and when it happens I will plug it here with mixes, pics n things. This is just a random handful of the kind of sleeves and playing tracks from them out live will be such a blast!

In Lone Survivor, they should have left the teenager and the kid tied up, and let the old man go. It would have taken him a lot longer to get to the village. The teenager practically sprinted there. It could have bought the seal guys a lot of time to get out of the area.
I know it's a true story, so I guess the real seals should have done this?

Ok, time for vulnerable share.
I've been navigating scarcity for almost a year now.Life took some unexpected turns and left me penniless. Didn't help that I stopped taking clients about 3 years ago to focus on an ecommerce project I had started. Unfortunately that's not bringing in enough to cover my life. On top of that I left home because the relationship wasn't moving toward a better place and we both needed space. Now I live 25 minutes away doing work trade at a small community to cover my accommodation, purchasing food with snap/ebt, spending a couple days a week with my son and picking up odd jobs including DoorDash.
I was heavily invested in an AI company that was public a couple years ago but then they decided to go private and now I have no idea when I'll be able to cash out my shares. I'm not very hopeful it'll be acquired anytime soon.
I also had some inherited properties with shared ownership between me, my sister and my mom but because of my sister's greed there's now a court battle between her and my stepsister and none of that can be cashed out either. Her whole tactic is just to delay the resolution.
It was really stressful at the beginning of all this, when the money ran out. I'm now over 10k in credit card debt just trying to keep up with the minimums. Upwork used to be good to me 3 or 4 years ago but now the competition is brutal and I can't even build enough reputation to get traction.
So I'm here to ask about collaboration. I have about 10,000 Book Boxes in storage that I need to move. People who buy them love them, the problem is not enough people know they exist. If you're open to helping sell them we can make some money together.
I'm also open to any design work, small or big. I'm a generalist. Traditional, digital, print, UI, motion, interactive, you name it. If you have anything to outsource or know someone who does, please reach out.
On a positive note I've been discovering a different version of myself. Someone who doesn't need financial comfort to walk and talk with confidence. I'm building real connections and getting invited to things just because of who I am, not what I have or what my title is. People are showing me they value me for me. I feel this is the most valuable phase of my life, moving toward more maturity, but the ongoing uncertainty is a wrecking factor. I'm trying to focus on living moment by moment and not get pulled into the fear stories that can spiral me down further.

last night I was alerted by the barking of our alley dogs. When I checked, it was clear that there must be a snake and indeed there was one cornered but safe behind our gate motor. As soon as I came close it was hissing and inflating its hood: a feisty little cobra, approximately 60cm long.
Unfortunately I did not have my phone on me to take pictures. I also did not want to stress it out further by getting closer (also because one common species here is the siamese spitting cobra). So I chased the dogs away and guided the snake towards the swampy area on the side of our land.
