Is living in NYC in winter, hell?
How do people live in a place where it's cold and your apartment is small. Do you just go shopping and to restaurants and movie theaters?- Winter in NYC is fine, you adjust quickly, adopt the shapeless but warm look, and learn to avoid the gigantic puddles. Apts are often too warm.spl33nidoru
- This being said, the first week of Spring certainly is the greatest moment of the year for New Yorkers. It's bliss.spl33nidoru
- Small apartments are easier to warm uppango
- Right but it's true regardless of size due to NYC's steam heating system.
https://getcanopy.co…spl33nidoru - Unlike many places during the winter nyc offers world class museums and shows and many other things one can do besides sit in a house without any of that.monospaced

- The breakdown of my 13 year marriage right before Xmas has put me off falling in love again. 4 relationships over 30 fucking years for nothing.5timuli
- On the bright side, I now get a lot of quality alone time. With each relationship, I've lost a piece of myself. Now I can go find that guy again.5timuli

NYC vs. LA
Which is more fun?
More fun if you're rich or poor?
25, 35, 45 year old?- witch one has better strip club?pango
- on weather alone, LAimbecile
- pango, https://mir-s3-cdn-c…imbecile
- weather and strip clubs are both light years better out westPonyBoy
- LA is too expensive. It’s also dirty and homeless everywhere. Jobs are not great. There’s no water.monospaced
- NY is not cheap. NY is not clean.
NY homeless ratio: 217:1 LA homeless ratio: 228:1 NY does have some of the best water, though.imbecile - Ummm. NYC is cleaner than LA. It doesn’t have a single homeless camp on the street. It’s cheaper to buy a house. Cmon.monospaced
- Research found that an estimated 71.7 per cent of the homeless in California are unsheltered, compared to just 4.4 per cent in New York City.monospaced
- Don’t get me started on fun. Nyc destroys la in fun in every category except going to the beach.monospaced
- I say this having lived twenty years in each place and still having family in both that I visit regularly.monospaced
- there are more homeless per square block in NY, tooimbecile
- so clean https://nyc.streetsb…imbecile
- and for the record, I compared the entire state of NY to the city of LA, not countyimbecile
- Why would you compare one city against another state? Anyway it sounds like you’ve never lived in nyc because your argument is falsemonospaced
- There absolutely is not a homeless issue in nyc like there is in LA and California in general. Not one where they’re on the streets.monospaced
- They’re not more homeless per square block. That makes no sense.monospaced
- ya but better strip club?pango
- Live and party in LA, retire and wait to die in floridascarabin

- 7 years for me now. The moment i stop learning and repeating myself to much ill move on.milfhunter
- It's smart to be changing jobs every 3 years or less, to boost salary and network, as nobody is gonna hire you at 50 with 15 years in the same place...grafician

Totally forgot about that scene in Mad Men where Ginsberg gives Peggy his nipple in a box, because he cut it off to keep the data from the new office computer from flowing into his body through it.

Now that I have moved, I have been walking my dog around the neighborhood for a little over three weeks. She knows my routes, she knows where the park is, she knows where all the other dogs are. Most importantly, to her anyway, is that she has learned who does and does not have a fence.
Given this new knowledge, she doesn't think she needs to walk with me anymore.
It irritated me the first time it happened, just gone in a new direction. She's not dumb, she knows where we're (probably) going, so I just kept walking and eventually caught up with her.
Then she did it to me again, I disciplined her by making her come home early and into the kennel. But that made me sad.
After thinking about it, I decided to let her have a go at it. (Even though technically it is a dog roaming unattended in and out of backyards for a little less than half a mile and crossing a street.) I had a friend go to the park first, then called him as we left.
I didn't try to guide or control, just gave her the go command and she took off across the street into a neighbors backyard, before I took the left bend at the end of my block, my friend said she was already at the park.
Maybe letting her run free in a huge public park before moving to a new smaller neighborhood wasn't well thought out on my behalf.
And before you complain about me letting a dog run off leash, that's exactly why I didn't move into your small quiet neighborhood.
Want to see her butt?

Spotted a coyote in my backyard on a security camera. It hopped two six-foot fences to get there, and the same to get out. I didn’t even know they could do that. No more feeding the wildlife, i guess.
I think i could take out a coyote in a one-on-one fight, but i’m worried about my birds :/
- Dude. Don’t do that. Bad move, they will now literally wait all day in the same spot for the food to show up again.HijoDMaite
- Old lady in our area was feeding them and they walked up and bit her hand. Then they just camped under her tree to be fed. Hope your neighbors don’t have pets.HijoDMaite
- They’ve never found food here (on camera), fortunately. Probably smelled a host of other animals here, thoughscarabin
