The Post Office local to my house, which I only occasionally use, always tries to hard-sell services one doesn't actually need. It's a little infuriating, especially considering I use another Post Office all the time, and know what services, etc, I need.
Anyway, sent a package y'day on First Class, Signed for, which always - ALWAYS - gets to addresses in London the next day, outside of Christmas time.
Guy tried to sell me the more expensive next day service and I said, "nah, first class is fine - it'll get there tomorrow". "It could take up to three days, sir..", "No, I guarantee it'll be there tomorrow, it always does" says I, stupidly.
Guess what? It's not there today, and I needed it to be.
Why didn't I spend that extra £3?
Now unsure whether it's simply chance, or Fate is teaching me a lesson.. or the always-up-selling bastard kept my package aside for sending today instead.
- He did. Next time just say that you can't afford it, and you hope that it will get there on time...********
