Two options, same pay:
1. dumb job that's easy and you learn nothing and your boss approves all your half-assed work. But you have nice coworkers that you like as people, good perks and work ends at 4pm.
2. "cool" job where you learn tons of stuff, make nice work with talented people for big brands that you care about 1/3 of the time. But you work 10 hour days and it takes time away from your own life and personal work. But your personal work is getting better as a result.
- 2 while you’re a kid, 1 later in lifescarabin
- Ditto abovepseud
- 1. And do the cool stuff in your spare time.********
- Depends how old you are.BusterBoy
- 2. life will find its way
1. if you want to be brain dead without even noticingsted - 3.Krassy
- If you've already had 2, then go for 1. Do 2 for as long as it makes sense.zarkonite
- or 3 take that personal work you mention and make it your job ;)zarkonite
- +1 scaroey_oey
- 1 for sure, over 30 - then find a solid hobby and monetise it by 40 and retire early.grafician
- Phone it in on 1, then work those extra three hours on something to help you quit 1 and be your own boss.monNom
- ...Assuming you've levelled up early on grinding and learning a bunch at a type 2 place.monNom
- Echo what Scarabin said at the top. Now I'm 40, I'd go option 1 to have more time to work my own projects, every time.Wolfboy

Has any of you old dogs considered mentoring someone younger?
You know, taking an apprentice, learning them everything you got so far, like teaching a younger self everything you know from 10-15 years into the future just for the sake of it?

My job is remote, easy and boring. I feel fortunate to have a job and my coworkers like me and my work and I like them and we have nice zoom calls.
But I feel like I'm not working to my potential and sit at a computer all day and miss doing things with others in the real world.
I don't want to stay home and stare at my screen for 40 hours a week doing a job that's kinda basic for another year.
But it's also hard to look for different types of jobs.
People at the supermarket seem happier. But I make more money than them and trained to get where I am.
- that's what pretty much everybody is having to go through. Just focus on the 1st paragraph for now. The final paragraph is bollocks.Fax_Benson

Asking for a friend.
Does anyone have a link to somewhere that would give me a good guide to identifying Liberty Cap mushrooms. I'm... oooops....my friend had some growing in his garden but is unsure that they are the doors to perception or a very bad stomach.

About to submit a federal grant request for my nonprofit - 50 pages of program narrative, 20 more pages of appendices (resumes, workplan, etc.), a 15-page budget, and about 15 more pages of official forms.

A few nights ago my wife and I spent an hour debating a random question spawned out of something ridiculous one of us mentioned about someone from our past. For an hour we were cracking up and debating and laughing and on and on, as we tried to decide which is more embarrassing:
If you had to choose between what is more embarrassing to watch a female friend do, which is the more embarrassing of the two:
1. A white woman going to Cancun for vacation and returning with her hair in corn-rows (that’s a thing you can do there), or,
2. Any white woman coming back from anywhere with a henna tattoo on her hand and arm? There’s a sub-question to option 2 that also kept us cracking up, and that’s this: is it weirder for someone to come back with a henna tattoo and overtly show it off, like “hey, look what I got in India!” or to come back and casually go about their life and not say anything about it until someone mentions it (like at work)?
- What happens in India, stays in India...or Cancun for that matter.grafician
- Sounds like you are obsessed with race, racist.Hayoth
- See I thought mg33 sounded a solutely sexist pointing out dumb things womem do on vacation :)********
- Corn rowspango
- Both are embarrassing just for the fact of how fucking basic someone would have to be to do either. It's some gross temporary exotic flex.garbage
- I will say rows because I'm a white dude with outrageously nappy hair. I have to pick dreads every morning, and I'd feel like a punk if I tried to rock grooves.garbage
- 100%, no debate, it’s the corn-rowsGnash
- And that goes for any colour womanGnash
- even black women?pango
- @garbage "gross temporary exotic flex" - YES. You said it perfectly. I've seen someone get their hair braided in Cancunmg33
- before attending a wedding, and it was cringe-city. You could sense the cringe on so many people's faces. It had the multi-colored rubber-bands...mg33
- lol, I would have died. The heckler in me would have come out.garbage
- Coming back with a native baby like Brunoscarabin
- Lol my brothers girlfriend came back from cancun with corn rows just in time for a big family wedding much to everyone’s horror. thankfully it didn’t last_niko

Due to all these Corona things, I have changed my plans and decided to work on a different new book project.
I will create a coffee table book with only cars and girls. As there are quite a few car threads here on QBN, I wondered, is anyone from QBN in Europe owning a cool car from the 1970s or 1980s and would like me to come visit with a model and shoot a series for my book?
Thank you!
- Simon not to spoil your idea, but travelling is pretty restricted in EU still. And you'd need 12 cars?grafician
