can't concentrate AT ALL with all this virus mess, barely created a logo in the last 2 days...

    • I just decided after looking at my past weeks performance that i'm not going to read and check every fucking thing what comes around in this topic.sted
    • Yeah, you're right I'm just gonna finish my portfolio, so be it!grafician

Welp, they all laughed at me when i told them i was going to SE Asia when all this WuFlu shit kicked off back in January... not laughing now are we???

Feel pretty safe sipping my fresh roast at a co-working space in Tokyo, reading the news/family messages of the chaos in England/Canada. Bwahahaha, can't stop laughing. The japs are running a tight ship: NO problem with supermarket supplies or test kits. You don't even need toilet paper. The toilets wash and then blow dry your ass automatically! Hands-free!!

Best of all, I have the whole country practically to myself. Hotels at DIRT cheap prices. No tourists! Just me!

    Hhahahahahahahahahhaahah

    • Cool humble brag brahutopian

    • What's the matter utopian, ran out of toilet paper?? LOLzKhurram
    • not sure what chaos in canada you're talking about.pango
    • Parliament shut down, prime minister in isolation. It's all relative though, right? Those two are my "home countries" that's why I'm mentioning them.Khurram
    • But I'm just being facetious. I know this is no joke. The economic impact of this is terrifying. Already my business is suffering. Haven't heard from customers.Khurram
    • in two weeks and assuming they're not working (B2B customers) so won't expect any orders for the business anytime soon. This will hurt, me and everyone.Khurram
    • On Thursday I was in Manila. The day Duterte locked the city down. I've never experienced an atmosphere like it in my life. It was something to beholdKhurram
    • Millions of people trying to flee the city en mass, queues around the blocks to enter your own hotel, adverts, print, TV, constant barrage of corona-informationKhurram
    • Police, army on a war footing... But then I landed in Tokyo, and this city is a sea of calm and normality. Everything is in order. People are calm, shops are..Khurram
    • ..stocked. Museums and schools and certain events are closed, but that's ok; there's art spaces and exhibitions still happening, bars still popping. TheyKhurram
    • know what they're doing. So relatively I was epxressing that. But it was a joke, right? You're allowed to be humorous in the "blog" right? If you didn't laugh,Khurram
    • you'd cry :) So please stop getting triggered by me all the time, pango. I used to like you. :(Khurram
    • I find this post really reassuring that we don't need to get mad over this virus thing, life still goes on, enjoy it without fearsgrafician
    • hmmm? really? i think you're just uncomfortable when people have different opinions.pango
    • overall society is still functional. that's why i'm unsure what you mean by chaos. even 2 days ago i went to buy toilet paper effortlessly :/pango
    • i don't see panic. people are still going about their life. with a pinch of caution is all.pango
    • sure the prime minister is in quarantine. but tbh i really dont care much for him. shit can still be done remotely.pango
    • is allpango
    • and all i said was i wasn't sure what you were talking about, since i'm currently at the location you mentioned :/pango
    • No i think you missed the irony and decided to challenge me on what was a joke.Khurram
    • wut? in that case i guess i did miss the irony and the joke. still don't know what chaos you're talking about tho :/pango
    • i mean if you're having a good time, by all means, keep doing it.pango
    • eh, maybe i'm overreacting to you. Irony being, my family warning me not to travel and i arrive in Japan and see the news empty store shelves in Yorkshire -Khurram
    • my sister had to drive miles to get painkillers for her kids, they're only allowing people to buy two packs of toilet paper - no pasta, no rice etc.,Khurram
    • Similar stories my friends in Ontario/Quebec freaking out telling me everyone is having to work from home, same issues with essential suppliesKhurram
    • asking me how i am in Japan, and i'm like, its like a picture of tranquility. People working, train runnings on time to the second. Store shelves fully stockedKhurram
    • And the complete lack of needing to panic about toilet paper, because of the ass-washing toilets... That irony :)Khurram
    • It's all relative though yeah? And it's less of an issue here in Japan, than it is in Canada/UK/US/Europe etc. And i was being facile, cos i'm having an amazingKhurram
    • time! dirt cheap hotels!! hardly any tourists! Whole country to myself! Gonna take some amazing pictures of the sakura, can't wait until they bloom xxKhurram
    • if i don't go broke by then because all my customers who were funding this trip have gone quiet; economic meltdown, no one spending money, aiiieeeee!Khurram
    • ya seems like there are pockets of area worse than others. if everyone be diligent and less selfish, there are still enough supplies to go around.pango
    • In other news, once gritty, nasty New York eateries are completely empty and squeaky clean.robotron3k
    • I'll step up and say i'm jealous, Khurram. I was rather hoping Germans would hold on to their otherwise infinitely sensible pragmatism, but no.Continuity
    • Bog roll cleaned out of my local supermarket, shelves emptying, people seemingly buying for the apocalypse. Sigh.Continuity
    • A lot of people seem to think the Japanese government is trying to downplay the outbreak b/c they don’t want to have to cancel Olympics.yuekit

    Advice:
Been planning on home renovations for the past 3 months and am scheduled to begin demo on Monday. Live in the northeast of the US and my wife at home is 7 months pregnant and we both work from home. I'm considering postponing due to the virus or quarantining my wife downstairs as the guys do work upstairs and be vigilant about sanitizing everything after I interrogate workers about their conditions.

    Thoughts?

    • you'll still be interacting with the builders so makes no difference unless you plan to lock her downstairs on her own until 2 weeks after...kingsteven
    • and if you think that's necessary, you would do it anyway without the building work...kingsteven
    • https://is.gd/uqhch3… if you're young and healthy it may be fine, i'd be more wary of the dust from construction aggravating your lungskingsteven
    • Postpone. See what happens first.robotron3k

    • postpone and hold the cash.capn_ron

    • I had bad pneumonia in Dec, wife and I tested flu positive 3 weeks ago and both fine after week on tamiflu. We'll see but we're gonna give it a go andwhatthefunk

    • Postpone...you don't want to be living in a construction zone while the demo is going on and your wife is pregnant. You're catch pneumonia!utopian

We're taking care of 5 street cats in our garden in addition to our resident cat.
In Turkey cats roam everywhere like they own the fucking country. 4 years ago one pregnant mom appeared and left her litter here. 2 or 3 of those decided to stay here and got pregnant before we neutered them. Out of those kids some died, some survived some decided to relocate.
Now we have 5 of them but I already forgot which ones are aunts, which ones are cousins with each other etc. They all look the same age after a while.
I spent a lot of money to get them checked, neutered etc. They eat a lot too, so I have to order 15 kg bags every 2 months or so.
Anyways there appeared a male cat couple of weeks ago and constantly running after one. I know she's neutered but the tom still wants to hump her all the time.
I told my wife that maybe cats have a sex life just for pleasure. She said its painful for females. I suppose she's right. Now I'm thinking that maybe that particular one is a sexy cat. If you ask me she's the ugliest of the bunch with her cross eyes. But you never know what might entice a male I guess, maybe cats have a fetish too.
    This is her

Here they are eating food with our neighbor's fucking chicken trying to get a bite. She poops everywhere. I'm so sick of her. I have built a barricade to stop her from crossing over the fence but she finds a way and neighbor doesn't give a fuck that I step on chicken poop everyday.

Also my wife is running this instagram page dedicated to cats that she sees all over Turkey. She's a bit cat crazy, follow it. https://www.instagram.com/furlin…

    • You know ... cats think roast chicken is pretty fucking tasty ...Continuity
    • My wife is mad into cats too, followed and will share. :-)PhanLo

    • We never had enough leftover to feed them. And wife is pretty particular about what they should eat or not. They hunt or eat garbage half the timeBeeswax

finding myself a bit sick, so i may go and get some cold and flu medication

for the last 24 hrs have been in the extreme tiredness and mild aches phase while my immune system tries to battle whatever is to come. No sore throat, high fever, cough, or difficulty breathing.. yet. what a time to be alive!

oddly, only interested in watching and playing post-apocalyptic-themed movies, tv shows, and games. :)

    @monospaced

Hey mono, I just want to say I will try to take it less seriously in the future when you comment my posts. I know you're not the only one mocking me in here, I just had the impression your tone was more serious than some who, i feel, are just kidding with me.

Sometimes I also struggle to explain me correctly in english and I know I write stuff that can be misunderstood.

I'am here to have fun and I really love this community who is part of my life since 20+ years... its like, half of my life! It means something to me.

So yeah, i dont like having the kind of exchange like the one we had this morning, it's not cool. So mono, i virtually shake your hand and I tell you I will try to take it less seriously and be more chill when you comment my posts ... maybe if you use a bit more humour on your side it will help, cuz I often feel you're super serious.. just saying ;-)

And know i will continue to post 10 post /hours in the Coronavirus thread, so live with it ;-)

I have the weirdest little dog. Sweet as can be... to the point she brings her treats and tries to give them to the cats (of whom hiss and bitch at the poor thing to go away). She'll walk right up to the cat w/treat in mouth and drop the treat in front (or on the cat) and walk away. It's so damned cute / sweet... omg... and she's blind to the hateful thanks she often gets... she just wanders off tail wagging.

So I wake up this morning at 1am to do what I have been doing for the past few weeks:

I go shop when the local grocery store is restocking. I'm talking that I shop out of the crates. I'm also not talking toilet paper panic buys, TP shows up on the doorstep (shout out to Amazon).

I'm talking produce and meat. Things that I want when I'm chopping it up in the kitchen. Apparently I'm the person that's nuts enough to do this, but it has been a good system.

So I get there around 1:15 this morning, and there's a sign announcing temporary hours of 7am-11pm.

I saw another sign on the way home, and I had to pull over to take a snap. Amen.

Stay safe out there. Bonus shot of my dog, who really, reeeaally hates baths, and is having to endure them on the daily because I don't want COVID-PAWS trampling all over my apt.
