I just received print samples of our new packaging, twelve different designs. As they were presented, I noticed an error in one of them. Saying nothing, I immediately wrote our printer asking if the complete order had gone to print yet. No response. That means he's gone for the day / weekend. Nervousness sets in. I pull up the dielines I prepared a couple weeks ago when a calm washes over me. The error is a good 20mm outside of the cut area. Crisis averted.

    • Print design is so much more anxiety-inducing than web for this reason.mandomafioso
    • motion design lies between print/web, due to render times -in terms of anxiety inducingshapesalad
    • I find that with motion the problem is educating the team on how long it really takes, people assume it all happens quickly.zarkonite
    • ah you lucky. i fucked up a high-end sales leaflet once with some eye-candy effects, i was focused getting the inside 3d renders perfectly printedsted
    • but the cover foil had a 20mm gap on the right side and i noticed it 2 days later :(sted
    • what have you left there?sted
    • Tell us imb, you've put a drawing of a penis in there...OBBTKN
    • I do lots of print work, I'm going to raise the cost due to the anxiety period until you get the printed item on hands, arghhhOBBTKN
    • this was just an alignment issue, text was overlapping a nearby element in two places where it should have been centeredimbecile
    • print rep did call me back, i had already submitted a updated file by then. We have to receive a new proof though :/ #wastedtimeimbecile
    • When printing, insist on a machine proof. Always.

Or wash your hands of the whole thing.

    • @mandomafioso Yes, anxiety levels high when doing high end printed matter. No undo, very costly. Big up to the DTP people!grafician

Contracted a new life insurance, and for the first time, I need to do blood, cardio and effort tests...

One girl is off to college so we downsized from a house to a condo. I've been playing Tetris all month to fix up the garage in order to fit one car comfortably. We must have made ten trips to Goodwill so far but I never bother to get a receipt tax purposes. Does anyone actually do that? My sister said she gets a huge write-off every year for all the stuff she gives away. Sure feels good to get rid of crap though. It's so easy to accumulate "stuff" when you have a bigger place.

    • Fancy garage floor. What kind of surface is that?monNom
    • gf and i had clothes, couple pieces of furniture, small appliances that added up to nearly $2K USD that she used this year on her filingsimbecile
    • @monNom: ever heard about the magic material called epoxy? :)sted
    • Yes epoxy finish. Black looks really nice but also shows scratches the most. @imbecile I think I’m going to make a list from memory and just claim it.HijoDMaite
    • Then start keeping receipts from now onHijoDMaite
    • at our goodwill, they usually just give you the receipt to fill out, go often with some old clothes, shoes, tools, or whatnot, grab a receipt and be on your wayimbecile
    • only really matter if you have enough write offs to counter standard deduction right?deathboy
    • Goodwill has a max donation of $500 so it doesn't matter how much stuff you donateHayoth
    • I know of at least three different donation spots that aren’t Goodwill so is that $500 per?HijoDMaite
    • Not sure about that $500 limit. Anything over that is considered a Noncash Charitable Contributions... up to $5kimbecile

Have had an inner ear infection for almost 2 weeks now.. practically deaf in left ear.. antibiotics slowly working, but yep, uncomfortable and scaring the shit out of me.. as apart from hearing being useful in every day things, in my work doing video editing or my fun making music, hearing is pretty much essentional

    • shieeet antibiotics do close to nothing to heal that, you need that because the complications...you sleep on that side so that the junk can come out?sted
    • until you can close your jar without pain you will be fine :) enjoy the silence ehehested
    • Antibiotics have always worked for me. Just a load of shit until they work or until you give enough of a shit to go to the doctors! Hope you're fixing up manIanbolton
    • ^ Unless they take a swab they have to guess at which antibiotic would work best. Best to go back to doc. it doesn't tae that long for antibiotics to workGnash

    • of course antibiotics will help with an infection, that's what they're formonospaced
    • However, antibiotics cannot cure a fungal or viral ear infection. Commonly when antibiotics are used to treat bacterial ear infections, the infection returns...sted

So... I’m suffering from Occipital Neuralgia. Aka, “Arnolds Neuralgia”. Chiropractics aint working, acupuncture too expensive for the relief given, and pain killers are slowly becoming useless. Already starting to think surgery may be the only way out.

    • How's your immune system? How's your sleep? Try to intermediate fasting, then work your way up to a 3 day, then 5 day fast to cleanse. Then healing happens!robotron3k

My own fucking apartment complex towed my vehicle from our assigned spot today... as we are now apparently under new management. For over a year we've been allowed to back into our assigned spaces w/out fear of our car being towed (you read that bullshit correctly — no backing into your assigned parking space). However, our apartments were taken over by new management only in the last 2 weeks. Without ANY notice they told the Tow company to go ahead and start towing vehicles backed into their spots. MMoOTHER.. FUCKERSS... ... if any one ever wanted to see Pony-rage... shoulda been near my parking spot around 8pm when I walked down to the spot w/my Pup to go pick up my wife from work... only to find my car... GONE.

Fuckers won't let you back into your space cuz we only have one license plate on our vehicles here in AZ (on the back of the vehicle). They're TOO FUCKING LAZY to get out of the fucking car (the security company) and check the license plate and verify you're assigned to the spot you're parked in. A tow truck drives through our complex about 12 times a day to find vehicles to steal and hold ransom. If it's backed-in you're fucked. 149 FUCKING DOLLARS to claim it in the morning... GODD... DAMMNIT!!!!

    • ha - yes it's a civic - but it's a beat up civic (silver 4 cyl. w/nothing to it)... not a flashy car. I back in because the dumpsters are right behind us...PonyBoy
    • ... there are huge metal doors that are supposed to close the dumpsters in but my shit neighbors never close the doors... much easier to avoid...PonyBoy
    • ... if we can just pull out of the spot. It's tight enough as-is. :/PonyBoy
    • haha. funny if civic is true. not sure i can picture the dumpster but something direct like that works for reason for me.deathboy
    • i just never understood the reason why if its just a normal parking spot. no bonuses to pulling out straight or anythingdeathboy
    • or if its just something to do because its harder. I cant stand these new cars with blind spots when reversing (2014 wrx hatch)deathboy

@dbloc, I think the fact that youve been 19 years in the same job has really remarkable merit, especially when nowadays this type of experience is not usually capitalized, but on the contrary, it is seen as a positive asset in people having gone through 19 positions in 1 year. I think it's time to start making job careers more challenging in terms of time, composure, and progress again. Once more: Congrats!

    Origin of Favela

The term favela is first found in 19th century Portuguese dictionaries, referring to the favela tree commonly found in Bahia.

    https://www.rioonwatch.org/?p=29…

    • To me, a favela is a slum on a slope. Not all of them are dangerous. Rozinha indeed is.maquito
