Our March for Science made the front page of the local paper! feels good man :)

First quiet Monday in a long while so I'm staying at home with the dog, occasionally checking emails but mainly sacking off in the autumn sunshine. Anyone for a cuppa? I made some biscuits.

Searching locations for two days straight now. It's such a shitty process when you cannot find anything suitable. Sorry, I just had to get my frustration out!

    • Do you look via street view?maquito

My iPhone is getting texts and calls without vibrating or a ringtone.

But I have notifications on and sound all the way up.

    How do I fix this?

    • Put it on full power for 2 minutes in the microwave, should fix it right up.Nairn
    • ^ LOL Then in the dishwasher?BusterBoy
    • yes, then in the dishwasher, but be ready to then immerse it in rice for no less than 3 weeks afterward, to dry it out.monospaced

One of my client's friends past away and he's asked me to design a 32oz beer can for his memorial. The direction includes an illustrated version of a photo. There's no real budget (how the fuck can i charge this guy, I knew the deceased also) so I was thinking of using some quick tricks in PS or AI / both, but I don't know any said tricks besides Live Trace (not sure if it's still available). Any suggestions?

Anybody know of online banner creation tools like Bannersnack.com and Bannerflow.com?

Unfortunately Bannersnack does not support Video (a must for me) and Bannerflow does not cater to agencies/ freelancers, only direct clients.

I looked into Google Web Designer tool and while it can import Video I can't seem to be able to embed it as background layer without any navigation on it.

Need to be able to put looping Video in the background sans navigation (playback buttons).

    Preferably an online tool. Anyone?

Would be cool if a bank or financial service makes something that looks like a video game where you can buy virtual things, upgrade your character etc. but it would all be investment and savings.

After multiple rounds of interviews over the past month, I've signed an offer letter for an ACD position at an agency I've been wanting to work at for years.

I don't start until early June, so I have the gift of a paid time from my previous company that I hope to use to better myself, and do things I've been putting off. I've already tackled some landscaping and garden projects, researched and installed ambient LED strip lighting on the archways of our covered side-porch, and painted the office. Trying to tackle a new 1-day project every day. I'm also re-learning French (via Duolingo)... Ok, I'm also playing some Spiderman on the PS4.

It's been a weird few months, but I'm feeling more clear-headed, motivated and positive. Since the move back to KC, I've been full-time remote at my NYC company. Remote positions are great for some, but just wasn't a good fit for me; it made me depressed and feel out of the loop with the team (I know some of that is totally my fault). I still love all of the people I worked with - they're amazingly talented and passionate, and I'll miss them. But feeling bummed out all the time is exhausting, so it was time.

I am ridiculously excited about the future, the challenges I'll get to tackle, and the team I'll get to work with. I can't wait to start.

Just wanted to share some happy news.

How would you interpret the following?

"I appreciate that my questions are probably far too theoretical for your standards"

This is from someone with whose mother tongue is not English.

    • without any context it sounds a bit like "sorry if i've come across as rude, i haven't meant to"hans_glib
    • of course it could just mean "stop try to be so clever and just cut my stuff, laserboy1"hans_glib

+1 QBNers on what seems like an increase in useful, design-related threads on here over the past few weeks. There's been a few threads I've read with interest, without having anything useful to add to, as I'd rather not befoul them with my idiotic pollution.

Here we go: I have a second interview today at 17.00 with the agency I went to a couple of weeks ago for a first interview.
