How do international SIM cards work?

I'm traveling abroad for a few weeks and a site offers a SIM card for $30 with 10GB data and unlimited talk and text.

Is this true? I can just swap out the cards and they give me basically unlimited international data?

    • Buy them when you land, put in your phone, just get internet data access. Eaay. $30 bucks a lot.robotron3k
    • ^ $30 is a rip off? I also need phone service.freedom

I'm surprised how many people lack manners. I mean there's way worse shit than this but what sometimes annoys me is when people just start talking to you about something without greeting you first.

This morning some girl that I work with just came up to me very early AM and started talking about a project without even saying "good morning" first.

Another person just before on the street asked me about some parking advice and after I gave her instructions she didn't even say thank you or anything.

    • yep. always bugged me since long before it was a sign of getting old...MrT

I've been busting my ass an extra 15-20 hours a week on top of my regular job to organize our local March for Science. The international date for the event is TOMORROW - May the Fourth.

It's a demonstration in support of science, the environment, and fact-based policy, especially around climate change. If there's an event in your area, you can find it here: https://www.marchforscience.com/…

We're running out of time to stop climate change. Take a couple hours out of your day and rally with the people to save the hoomans! ✌✌✌✌✌✌✌

If you were selling a car, and an out of state buyer requested the VIN, would you reply with...

"I can share info with people who are able to come and check out the car."

or would you simply supply the VIN?

I've bought out of state cars, site unseen other than photos, and had them shipped home. Why shoot yourself in the foot like that and dissuade a buyer?

I still kind of want the car. (I got the VIN from his plate.) But now I think the guy is a dick, so lowball the fuck out of him or fuck it?

Had an intense meltdown today at work. Had been working for this new client, and started building a fresh new branding for them. I was asked to draft the “look & feel” for a corporate brochure. Had a quick meeting with the project manager yesterday to review a timeline which seemed coherent with the job: couple of days drafting content, couple of days between approval and touch-up, and THEN designing. Anyway, we agreed with presenting a “quick mood board to show some graphic intentions”.

This morning I arrive and immediately the PM asks me to brief and delegate the whole thing to a designer. At first I try to understand why, and this person tells me that there’s another, more urgent project for me. Although yesterday the timeline had a clear intention to get an approval of the content prior to landing directly onto the design of the piece itself, suddenly I perceive she is talking about the brochure itself, and not the mood board we had spoken about. I told her I was getting mad with the change in the process, and that this designer had no clue of what to do if we were going to go directly to drafting the brochure instead of putting up some sort of mood board with hints of the overall tone. Well, to sum it up, after arguing for 10 mins I lost it and told the PM “do whatever the fuck you want”, in front of everyone, grabbed my jacket and left.

Returned 15 mins and 2 cigs later to find the CD had resolved to present a mood board with a couple of layouts... plan A. Felt kind of guilty and ashamed but... I did it: I presented the mood board and not the whole fucking brochure with the unapproved content.

    • Unfortunately we are paid to act.robotron3k
    • It's harder than getting mad, but try to find a way to convince people of what you want. to get them on your side, rather then throw anger at them.shapesalad
    • I'm not saying it's easy to do that. I'm certainly struggling. but after years of getting mad at people not knowing the process or sticking to it...shapesalad
    • .. I've decided to try to stay calm and persuade them that what I want is what they also want.shapesalad
    • Thanks @shapemaquito
    • i use slow acting poisons. but calm persuasion can work, too.Gnash
    • This isnt just a bandwidth issue. Its a respect issue. They didnt respect your approach and process and so they absolutely deserve the anger.cannonball1978
    • Also the PM manages the process in partnership with the CD. It sounds like that is not what is happening here.cannonball1978

Ridicule my user name all you want, but you are infringing on the use of the QBN logo when you produce and manufacture the shirts. you were putting the manufacturer of the shirt in a copyright infringement position because they are making copies of a logo that no one has a right to copy or make merchandise from, whether there is profit involved or not. How this is a discussion on QBN is beyond me.

    • 1. Logos are trademarked, not copyrighted.
      2. The logo doesn't appear to be trademarked. No ™ or ® or text to that effect evident.
      i_monk
    • If it's done as a parody or artistic purpose it's ok.robotron3k
    • I don't think anyone's making money. If someone did, QBN could just go after them and force them to cough up the $14.87 they made.monospaced
    • Who caresset
    • it's all about the intent.Gnash

    • I think a competent TM lawyer could point at the decade+ history of knock-off merch here and argue QBN has failed to defend its claim to the TM.i_monk
    • listen to you guys go. that's one way to justify theft of a logo you have no rights to, party on thieves.imbecile
    • It seems you are defending a legal claim based on moral outrage rather than law.i_monk
    • if QBN wanted to collect damages, they could, but I don't see how even these t-shirts are hurting them or taking their profitsmonospaced
    • QBN is still protected under copyright and trademark laws. It's simply their choice if they want to follow through.monospaced

Totally enamored with this beauty on my commute home this week.

My thoughts: hmm, she hasn't gotten off this stop as yet...
    what? Not this stop either?

She walks over towards where I'm standing, 3 feet away from me at the doors (we're super close in a not-at-all crowded train) looking at the window reflection... we both get off at the same stop. Walk through separate entrances but end up meeting at a cross street again, and we both walk down the same street/same side.

This was 4 days ago - just realizing that I've seen her at my gym. I remember us working out side by side.

Would you ever date (at the very least strike up convo with) someone from your gym? ... so much personal space is involved - I think that's why it took me 4 days to recall where I knew her from.

Risqué? Assuming were both the same age, and I believe we are - there are no rules at this pt.

    • You're still allowed to speak to people in real life I think. I know a guy who met his wife in a gym.PhanLo
