A junior designer where I work just got made redundant - they weren't capable of creating the level of work required - and have asked if they can put a project in their portfolio that they hardly worked on. They made some colour changes, client's text edits etc. but nothing substantial. I like them as a person and want to help them get a new job, but also don't feel comfortable with someone taking credit for work I've created, even though it wouldn't really affect me. What's the etiquette here?

    • You just met a future Creative Director under 30 yrs old.robotron3k
    • yeah lol "I like them as a person" BUT its a workplace where you have to be productive not likeable...
and hell no! first what does the contract saying?
      ********
    • the etiquette is that you don't put shit in your portfolio what is actually somebody elses work, you don't even think about asking or any shit.
      ********
    • fuck, i had a retard decade ago, he was a shitty designer but we had to hire.
guy learned (copypasted) stuff from my psd-s
      ********
    • we allowed him to use the projects in his portfolio where he was a simple GO, i found out years later that he advertised these things like its own creations
      ********
    • i had to make a fucking behance page to make sure that the right people know that this guy is a fraud.

    • +1 "the etiquette is that you don't put shit in your portfolio what is actually somebody elses work"Nairn
    • tough one. he could do a, "while at X I worked as a junior designer on projects like these... under the brilliant direction of greyandred"Gnash
    • I think the main issue was the music industry was in a do or die situ, they had to embrace to survive. Plus music was/is smaller files, the tech has caught upfadein11
    • for film now. Hollywood still makes mega bucks through traditional channels when it works (at huge risk). The market is way more fragmented because they arefadein11
    • still surviving just. The cost of blockbuster movies is not recouped quick enough through the streaming model. Hence why Netflix/Amazon etc. is weak on cinema.fadein11
    • throigh streaming obvs, you can get pretty much anything on pay per view aside from the some exceptions (like Studio Ghibli who clearly do not like that model).fadein11
    • oh ffs, meant for above obviously lolfadein11
    • did he help at all?
      what job are they claiming?
      mugwart
    • if they claim they did soul work on this it is wrong. If they claim they did part of the work it is cool.mugwart
    • i know in vfx teams work on one shot. I painted out things in a scene and a team of animators + modeles + lighting + comper + supe also worked on this shotmugwart
    • one of these people cant claim ownership but they can explain what they did.mugwart
