“All over America, the coronavirus is revealing, or at least reminding us, just how much of contemporary American life is bullshit, with power structures built on punishment and fear as opposed to our best interest. Whenever the government or a corporation benevolently withdraws some punitive threat because of the coronavirus, it’s a signal that there was never any good reason for that threat to exist in the first place.”

Well, that's that.
State of emergency officially declared in Bavaria. If it's not a supermarket or pharmacy, it's to remain shut. Schools, gyms (ugh!!!!), galleries, bars, musea, clubs, beerhalls, one of the dozens of H&Ms, the lot.
As if Munich didn't already feel like the set of '28 Days Later' enough.
Sigh.
- I think I need to get some booze. This is getting a bit much.Continuity
- The initial panic response goes away pretty quick. Then you can start watching Netflix.monospaced
- I stocked up on wine and beer.
But only have 3 rolls of TP left ... shitRamanisky2 - I managed to get my normal single package of 12 of bog roll today. I'm good for at least a month.Continuity
- And I have enough cooked meals in the freezer to last me about three weeks, normal consumption. Yee-ha.Continuity
- Don't shit, Ramanisky.
HOLD IT IN.Nairn - Continuity, I suppose where you live TP is fairly easy to get unlike here in the States?Ramanisky2
- Sadly, no. Germans – who I thought would be infinitely more sensible — have fallen prey to hoarding (aka 'Hamsterkauf' — hamster-buying).Continuity

Italy not much better than yesterday and past days. Again nearly 350 deaths and almost 3300 new cases.

A couple of friends won a £300 food and bar tab in a quiz at their local pub. We'd been invited, along with two others, to partake in this bounty yesterday.
It was fucking cancelled, for obvious reasons.
They're probably not going to do it for a while now, by which time the pub will have likely gone out of business.
Bunch of fucker - a £50 bar tab would've made for a food Sunday afternoon.
.
Instead, I had a shifty cider as I walked my daughter around in the park, garnering entirely understandable dismissive looks from other parents. "Well THAT isn't behaviour befitting a Sunday afternoon in Crouch End, what".
- Also a *good sunday afternoon, but food'll doodle do.Nairn

President Trump told a group of governors on Monday that they should not wait for the federal government to fill the growing demand for respirators needed to help people diagnosed with coronavirus.

Thousands arriving from China and Europe at U.S. airports have faced no coronavirus screening
In the weeks before President Donald Trump spoke from the Oval Office this week to announce restrictions on travelers from more than two dozen countries in Europe, thousands of people from the region already had stepped off planes at U.S. airports, and an untold number of them may have carried the coronavirus.

We should have a QBN Sign-in Thread so we can all check in once every few weeks, let everyone else know we're still going.
If I stop posting soon, then after you've breathed a sigh of relief, know that I had a mostly OK time on here over the years, at some time, probably with you (whether you enjoyed it or not is something else).
Thanks.
- well, I enjoyed most of your posts, despite sometimes having to resort to google to understand what you were sayingdmay

Clearly this is serious, but companies need to calm down with this Covid-19 marketing blitz they are on.
1. Yes, I do realize I can bank online - I've realized this for the past 15 or so years (maybe more, its been so long I can't remember).
2. I bought something from your store 2 years ago, but thanks for informing me you've upped your sterilization standards so I can feel comfortable shopping my way through this pandemic.
3. Thanks for letting me know about your new "zero contact" food delivery protocol where I don't have to open the door for the guy who's delivering my food, but does nothing for the 10 people who came in contact with it over the past 35 minutes.
4. I don't see how it's a time to reinforce your corporate messaging around making sure I keep my money in your investment fund, and how that ties back to the "unity we encourage every day".

If you're (now) like me, and your gyms are shut indefinitely but still want to work out, here's a complete at-home body weight routine from Jeff Cavaliere:
- oddly enough, that's the one I'm thinking about a fair bit... I love going to the gym most evenings...so far mine is still open... hope it stays that way ...exador1

the way a virus spreads is a 2-way street. you can't prove that somebody GAVE you the flu any more than you can that you just TOOK it (caught it) because your immune system was weaker than others who didn't catch it under the same circumstances. it's the flu and that's how it has always worked. good luck peoples
