Death to everyone who works on the Office suite and thinks they're making those programs easier to design in.
- death?NBQ00
- "Death" is a bit intense nah?nbq
- using the word 'design' w/the phrase 'office suite' is akin to rubbing sandpaper on my face... I always tell my clients not to expect muchPonyBoy
- Quite right, guise - 'death' is a bit extreme of i_monk. Perhaps better chemical castration and/or sterlisation?Nairn
- It is insane how after decades none of their software has improved or simplified. It’s only become more convoluted and harder to use.monospaced

- ^^ designers, for clientsi_monk
- I want to take them hostage and make them move images in Word, and try to embed a font in a PowerPoint template. For a few monthsProjectile
- I have to prepare "designed" assets/templates in PPT occasionally, and it sucks balls. Google products were so much better and web-based.monospaced

Any of you fools still on Windows 7?
My main work computer is and I'm in absolutely no position to upgrade before tomorrow's support cut-off.
d'oh.
- Windows 95NBQ00
- My home laptop is. 10 years old Sony vaio. Tried to upgrade a few years ago but something went wrong so I’m stuckdmay
- iam, at work tooBennn

- Win 10 is running smooth. I'm glad i didn't leave Apple in the Vista days...jagara
- win 10 has been out for 5 years, how does an update hit you so hard?mekk
- I just simply haven't felt the need. It's my daily work machine which runs my machinery and I don't have another one set up here.Nairn
- It'll require a couple of days of machine down time to swap over (I still have the Freebie Win10 upgrade option), but I just can't be arsed.Nairn
- Huh, apparently you don't even need to have the 'Anytime Upgrade' installed - any old Windows 7 Serial Number will activate Win10. I'm guessing not Pro though?Nairn
- been contemplating the same. Realistically, I think I'll need a new machine before I HAVE to ditch win7 (soon)Fax_Benson

I personally love PowerPoint.
It's allowed me to easily find well-paid work, make cool stuff and because all you design snobs refuse to touch it, I can earn as much as an art director sitting at home in my undies.
And seriously, it can be a pain but it can also be awesome as long as you create the assets in Adobe and treat it as a playout platform rather than a creation platform.
Just don't fucking try to embed fonts or create a template unless you really know what you're doing. Fucking nightmare! That said, name another program that you can do this with easily.
..and Word can burn in the bowels of hell
- Do you create the text in Adobe or on PP?Beeswax
- good for you. i'd rather stick pins in my eyes than deal with powerpointhans_glib
- Text: Always in PPT. *With fonts installed.
OR: titles etc. as images and body copy in Arial / Century GothicProjectile - Flash. In answer to your question. But it died.shapesalad

- I loathe Powerpoint, but good for you. The next time I get a Powerpoint project I should hire you.utopian
- BTW - Keynote is significantly better then PPT on every conceivable level. And then once I'm done, if the client insists on it being PPT I convert it to PPT.utopian
- Well done. Sure I could earn five times design-snob money being a lawyer, but sod that too.MrT
- The worst thing about PP isn't how horrible is it to use with featured buried in submenus. It's that it's a saleman's tool. If you do this work, you have to useCyBrainX
- Windows system fonts because whoever you're giving this to is going to edit and they don't have nice fonts. They're also going to shit all over your formattingCyBrainX
- and add photos that will be stretched disproportionately. These samples look great because of the well designed graphics done in 3D.CyBrainX

- So what’s innovative about a dual screen? Nothing new - and MS didn’t invent it. I don’t think the implementation is that impressive. + huge bezels on phoneNBQ00

I have a Surface Pro 6 here in front of me; and between 3 of us, we can't get Narrator to turn off. The thing is stuck on a region select screen and no amount of tapping or pressing anything will disable this guy talking.
There is a blue outline box active on the screen but tapping it or anywhere else on screen will not make it disappear. Anything that should be interacted with on screen can not be interacted with, only hearing "command not available".
Trying to turn off the device requires a swipe down that the active Narrator prevents from being able to swipe.
Feeling dumb. Good job Microsoft.
- Submerge Surface Pro 6 in water for 5 min, Narrator will turn offprophetone
- j/kprophetone
- even a hard reset opens back up to the same problemimbecile
- I'm sure you might have tried this, but the command turn turn off and on is Windows + Enter - maybe plug in a keyboard and try that? Fuck M$spot13
- Caps+s or caps+r do something with narrator. Maybe caps+enter toggles on and off? Anyways. Caps is the function key for narrator related stuff afaikmonNom
