re: imgur leaving the UK, I'm really curious how QBN will survive these new digital ID laws as many around here think they are anonymous and can say whatever they want :))
Will you delete threads like UK is fucked and America is Fucked because of all the censorship coming about soon?
Food for thought...

Has something changed on the internet and I missed it?
I just dropped in to read me some QBN, and for the first time ever, at least 80% of posts feature a big purple rectangle with "Content not available in your region".
Like, almost all QBN content... Imgur, YT, other links, no longer available.
???

This then may be the end of a regular check in habit at QBN. A check-in which has been very regular part of my life since ... what 2002? I don't know. I'm wary of suggesting a year because I don't actually know when QBN appeared, and I'm not sure when Newstoday became QBN.
I do quietly believe I used to look at NT/QBN back when I worked at a company called Overland, but I left Overland in 1999 so maybe that is a false memory.
Anyway, now it's just a column of nauseating purple rectangles, and any sense of anything that might be going on here is already lost.
It feels a little bit like losing one's hearing, I imagine. You can still be there in the room; still see the people interacting animatedly, but there's nothing but muffle reaching you.
And I do realise this is just a UK thing and it could be resolved with some agreements being struck about terms, conditions, definitions and rules... but that isn't going to happen. So it feels like a backwards step into a partitioned world - the opposite of the original www dream.
Like Concorde, we had supersonic flight, and we've never been that advanced since, but due to complications we had to go backwards.
Funny to think that those hairy deodorant dodging nylon slacks wearing peope of the past could travse 8000miles in less than half the time it takes us today.
Funny, also, that for a while the whole world could reach out and say hello, share ideas, debate, collaborate, form communities, societies, in pursuit of dreams...
Yet now we are red or blue, afraid or brave, capable of about 10 seconds of focus, condemned to misunderstand each other and programmed to react aggressively when we do.
The wall of purple tiles is nothing really. Just a hosting site at odds with a government, or something of that sort.
But it's another smallish porous hole opened up as the once flexible bones of global connection continue to go brittle with osteoporosis, and we all retreat from each other in fear.
Goodbye QBN.

I'm looking to buy a new computer, and most likely I'll get a refurbished one... I have an offer on one with a killer graphics card for around €1,000.
My current PC is still great, but it's a bit outdated, and I can't update it to Windows 11.
A friend who works as IT will give me MS licenses, and let's see if it lasts another 8 years, lol!

Just thinking about all the plastic I throw away every day.
From food packaging to mail, coffee cups, forks, it's everywhere.
Amazing that there's so much of it everywhere.

- The universe is the space we occupy, make that of it what you will. It's only limited by your understanding.palimpsest
- As per Wikipedia: "The universe is all of space and time and their contents."palimpsest

- Why would one even attempt to understand why something is if they can't even understand what it is?palimpsest

- Teleology is narrative error.palimpsest
- It's still a stupid question.palimpsest
- Consciousness is a property of the universe, sure. But so is defecation.
It’s a deep property, not an inherent one.palimpsest - rocks have parameters too.... if u see the universe nonlnear its inherent..neverscared
- My rocks question was about the "canvas for consciouness"palimpsest
- But, is your “canvas” a separate layer, or part of the same fabric or more as a metaphor for the whole thing, consciousness included?palimpsest
- I’m trying to see if you see it as two levels or one continuous field.palimpsest
- We can probably agree that consciousness isn’t outside the system. The question is whether it’s descriptive or generativepalimpsest
- I’m fine with consciousness as an emergent property, not a goal. We can study its patterns without calling them intentions.palimpsest
- its a n-dimensions space in theory and in physics as far dimensions as the metric goesneverscared
- It's still a stupid question.palimpsest
- OK,chief. It’s n-dimensional, metric, curved, whatever the model needs.
That doesn’t make it purposeful, just complex. Adding dimensions doesn’t add intent.palimpsest - It's a nice metric flex, but we’re not lost in spacetime here.palimpsest
- sorry .. iam argumenting to absolute here...dont take i too serious iam only freejazzing f.. the stone thing... its maybe entangled in entropy and thermodynamicneverscared

- isnt complexity and purpose in a way interconncected .. in biology from uni-to multi cell to a brain blasting in high neuron activity numbers...neverscared
- i guess when they finished studying the neutrino we will finaly know and the stoopid question is answered.... or not.. probbaly not...neverscared
- Let’s be clear:
I’m saying the universe is everything that exists. Consciousness arises inside. Remarkable yes, but not its purpose.palimpsest - You’ve called it a “canvas for consciousness,” then said rocks have parameters, then invoked n-dimensional metrics.palimpsest
- That isn’t an argument, it’s a collage. Adding physics buzzwords doesn’t turn teleology into science.palimpsest
- If you think consciousness is inherent, just say it. But don’t pretend “non-linear” or “n-dimensional” makes it so.palimpsest
- It's still a stupid question.palimpsest
- How matter gives rise to consciousness is still not understood. That’s an interesting question.mort_
- There are those that theorise that consciousness is fundamental and not an emergent aspect of matter.mort_
- i said in theory its n dimensions.... i think its nonlinear and not pretend otherwise einsteins general relativity makes no sense if not... therefore evidentlyneverscared
- It's not about emergence (from the matter) but embeddedness.
Consciousness doesn’t rise from matter; it rises from our being within matter...palimpsest - ...from the need to make sense of what we are and what surrounds us.palimpsest

Coming this Friday 10/10 I have a fresh Skylarking mix for Tak Tent Radio a selection of music chosen and introduced by David Bowie. Among the items taken from his office for the recently opened V&A exhibition on his work was a paper titled "Memo for radio show - list of favourite records". So with a bit of fancy editing of old clips featuring him talking about his choices and the full list of the records he loved most, I will be presenting a Memo For Radio Show mix via mixcloud.com/Tak_Tent_Radio/

Had an interesting Facebook marketplace experience over the course of the past week. We were selling a small boat we've had for about 15 years...have hardly used for about 5...so time to get rid of it. We originally paid about $900 for it...it's banged up a bit and I needed the storage space so listed it for $50.
A guy contacted my wife and asked if we'd take $30. We told him to GTFO. I said $50, take it or leave it...he agreed.
The wife asks for payment before pickup...he goes silent. Then asks if he can pickup at midday on Sunday...again I say GTFO - come at 9am or after 7pm as it was a nice day and I didn't want to be stuck at home. Again we ask for payment.
The guy then contacts my wife and says can he pick up at 11am - she says no problem, we'll leave the boat in our front yard...gives him our address and as he hasn't paid yet, to leave the cash UNDER THE FRONT DOOR!!
So out we go...I have no idea about this new plan, and of course when we get home, the boat is gone and no cash. I say to the wife 'WTF is going on'? She tells me her plan and I almost fall over...now my wife is lovely, but a bit too trusting at times.
Anyway, at this stage my eyes are turning red with rage...I find the guy's profile - see that he's a 'digital creator' in the local Indian community here...so I post a message on one of his IG posts 'how's the canoe going mate?'.
I then send him a filthy facebook messenger note...warning him if he doesn't pay for the canoe in the next 30 minutes, I'll be outing him on all his platforms as a thief...as we had the entire thing on CCTV with a clear view of his face.
The money landed in my wife's account about 5 minutes later.
- Well done! Tremble, oh boat robbers! ;)
And don't worry, your wife is a good person, take care of her.OBBTKN - :)BusterBoy
