Struggling at work atm. The problem is the growing feeling that my nearest boss seems to dislike all design suggestions I make.
If he asks for feedback on a design it gets disregarded too, even if it turns out months later he comes to the same conclusion. At one point our art director was very adamant that I should be the one doing a specific task and only then did my boss conceded.
Worst part is I don't know why this shift occurred, or how to rectify it. We've worked well together for numerous years, but when I've mentioned it to him and he just said it isn't so, even when I point to numerous examples of it.
Part of me thinks its a sign to start polishing up the old portfolio and start looking for other pastures.

I don't want to jinx it, so I’ll keep it thematic.
I don't play the lotto, but I understand why people do. It’s about the time between putting up the money and the results of the draw. That dopamine hit is exhilarating, sweet poison that keeps you stuck, hoping for luck.
Sure, I invest money into my personal work. It’s giving lotto vibes, for sure. But the time is what stings the most. You can make more money, but not more time. The older I get, time seems comes at a steep premium. And each ticket I pull is worth a good slice of the life I have left.
Anyway, something I wrote could fall into the hands of someone who could unlock everything before the end of the year if luck finds me in its crosshairs. It’s just one of dozens of lottery tickets I’ve been banking as I grind away in my dark corner over there. I just keep reminding myself to keep my head down, stay focused, and not get carried away with shiny dreams when slow progress usually wins the race. But I can't help but think about what life would be like if this were the ticket that hit.
Dreaming of doing or making something important that touches people is a silly pursuit in the grand scheme of things. But I keep doing it for reasons I can't explain other than this is how creative humans cope.

I output a comp beforehand tho so I have full reference as to what I designed and can rebuild the damn thing in about an hour so... but WHAT A PAIN...

This reminded me of an all-nighter I pulled 13 years ago while doing a trends-mag. QuarkXPress... We had the thing almost done; we were waiting for an ad and final copy check. Suddenly the fucker froze. We decided leaving it like that, went for a nap, and when we came back a couple hours later, it was still frozen... We had to force quit, and we lost the fucking file. We redid de mag from a pdf we had exported one day before. I remember I cried.
