Aug 17: Wife complains of back pain and starts vomiting later that night.
Aug 18: Bring wife first to Urgent Care, then ER for scan of possible kidney stones. Scan comes back showing a 20cm/8in. tumor on her ovary.
We immediately start talking to doctors and oncologists to find out what to do and how quickly we can get it done. We're put in touch with a gyno oncologist who will perform the surgery, but she finds out about my wife's past history with colon cancer. She had a section of her colon removed in 2018 and no cancer signs since then. But this doctor is pretty sure that this new tumor is related and so she throws out the possibility that this is metastatic (Stage 4) colon cancer. Our heads are both spinning, and the awful thoughts of what the future could possibly look like start to sink in and scare the shit out of us. We get another upper chest scan to see if there are any signs of cancer and thankfully there were none. The oncologist tells us that they won't know if the tumor is benign or malignant until they perform the procedure and send a sample to pathology.
Aug 26-28: Work trip to Charlotte where I come down with an insane stomach bug and have to sh*t my brains out oh about every 37 minutes. Including on an airplane - sorry fellow passengers.
Aug 29: I bring my wife to the hospital for a hysterectomy then come home to be with our boys. Surgery is successful, but Doctor tells me that the tumor ruptured a few days prior and she found "a gelatinous gunk" spread all over her abdomen which makes testing a little more time consuming - normally they can get an answer in about 20 minutes during the procedure. Removed the uterus and appendix for good measure.
Aug 31: My wife comes home from hospital and is recovering nicely, walking around slowly and sleeping a lot.
Sept 1: Laying in bed with my wife we get an update to her medical chart that no malignant cells were detected! Tears of joy and relief fill our eyes.
We will follow up with the doctor for next steps.Life is beautiful my friends. And health is wealth.
- So sorry to hear all of this and relieved she is doing well and recovering, and that there is no cancer. :)mg33
- Great to hear - what a rollercoaster. My mum got the all clear recently after having a growth removed. What a load off!mort_

What age do you want to retire?
What are you going to do in retirement?- Retirement? LOL...I'll be working until I'm dead.BusterBoy
- Theoretically, in 14 years, but as long as the government keeps playing bingo with my taxes, I see it as difficult.OBBTKN
- I have a pension and a long-term savings plan, but now I can't make contributions because my daughters still depend on us, and how!OBBTKN
- My retirement plan: cycling, travel with my wife, and draw/paint as much as possible ;)OBBTKN
- Retirement is a mental thinggrafician
- Retirement is a pipe dream when folks didn't live as long. Life is about mind, body & spirit and IF work is one of those for you, work 'til you're dead...ideaist

My wife and I are celebrating our 25th wedding anniversary today, our silver anniversary. We're going to dinner with our daughters, and later on, we've booked a weekend getaway just for the two of us.
It may seem like a long time, but honestly, time has flown by.
Gosh, it's been an incredible adventure, zero regrets... now, here's to another 25.
Take care of your loved ones. It's the only thing that matters in this crazy world ❤

I’m sure back in 2016 this seemed like an unlikely and crazy future..
Bleakly looking at the state of the world and the coming technology prison we are sleepwalking into,.. this seeems too plausible now

Working on positioning and GTM for two great designers who are changing from project-based and hourly billing to subscription.

- A retainer sells time/capacity; a subscription sells throughput and a workflow, there are more constraints on a subscription. not identical. similarcanoe

Congrats @cannonball! My partner and I decided to get married next year on 11/11 (our doggo's 16th birthday). I'll be 43. It'll be my first marriage, so I'm pretty excited after waiting a long time to find my perfect match after kissing my share of frogs. But sometimes patience pays off.

My wife texted me a moment ago asking for the security code that should have arrived before her text (she's trying to log into an account of ours)...
I replied, "OU812" w/a smiley.
Her response was "Didn't work... I just sent a new code request."
*sigh
The adorable creature has next to zero pop culture appreciation... *whispers: I don't think she's seen Star Wars.
