One of my best friends from university had a teacher who at school was teaching... I dunno, something, whatever - it doesn't matter ...but he had one of the best pieces of advice I've ever heard, and have held onto as a tertiary or quaternary party to it.

Ask yourself, simply, whenever you encounter any mote of information from another human being or source, media or otherwise:

"Why is this bastard lying to me?".

Assume an offensive. Assume a narrative or a projection. Perhaps assume that they've not checked their sources and are perhaps simply regurgitating.. 'For Reasons'.

    • lol at me after 25 years, I finally googled it–apparently it's a standard Journo trope: https://www.google.c…Nairn

    • 99% of information we consume has already been through several rounds of chinese whispers. Eg newspapers:shapesalad

    I hate working.

I love working when the day is my own schedule, I have some trading ideas, I have some design business ideas to work on, I can take as long as I want on cooking lunch, go outside if it's sunny, etc. So productive. Feel 100% myself. No anxiety/confidence issues. No mixing with extroverts.

But work work... damn... it just feels like a black cloud over my head.

I get sooo many applicants for mid-level position which require experience where the candidate has been designer since summer 2021.

Seems like a lot of grads think they have a shot at a Manhattan agency even though they have no experience and learned everything in a 10-week bootcamp.

I keep seeing signs on the front of businesses, random printed material, and even t-shirts (for a 5k or whatever) with the Facebook and Instagram logos on them. Why are they doing this?

It's just the logos. No link or QR code or whatever. Just...logos.

Did someone see it on a website (where you can actually click it) and tell the person designing their business sign to throw it on? Something like:

"Hey buddy, put all the social media logos on our sign. Just like it is on this website I saw."

"Sir, those logos are links to their social media pages. You can't click the sign on the side of your building"

    "Do it anyways"

    "..."

Then everyone else started copying it? Or am I missing something?

    • I think it's just them saying 'we are on Facebook' so you would have to search the business name.
Always think the logos ruin the design

Anyone bought, or sold, on discogs? Wondering if it’s worth the effort. I’m purging stuff and I have cases of CDs to get rid of. Lot’s of imports and special editions - most unopened

    • I saw a box set selling for £800. I have a case of those sets in storageGnash
    • if you click on the 'last sold' link it will give you a graph of the prices something has actually sold for. some of the prices in stores are daftkingsteven
    • i've sold thousands of records on discogs and as many trips to the postoffice. i've had things in my store at 50% of any other seller and they don't go...kingsteven
    • add to that the last few years has been disastrous for CD resale... most will struggle to sell for a worthwhile amount unless it's something very rarekingsteven
    • Ah, yes. I was wondering about how reliably those prices are. Thanks for the insightGnash
    • I sell on Discogs for maybe three years now. Sold 5 CD's gave all away last month. Like 30 albums. But no rarities or boxes or something worth real money.oey_oey
    • I’d only be posting the rare stuff. Tons of promotional sets and imports. Just wasn’t sure if this site was the one to useGnash
    • Yes. But eBay will get you significantly quicker sales, so you can ship them all in one go. Discogs will have you making multiple trips to post office.DRIFTMONKEY
