Every time I end an apologetic written response with "I'm afraid" as every good Englishman should, it doesn't look at all right. Especially when I'm writing to someone who has English as a second language, as I have just now to a Norwegian client.

I wonder "what must she think is so terrifying here, and why don't I flee rather than continung to write this email?".

I've just inadvertantly found myself on dribbbbble - is that thing just a constant auto/matic-fellatio circle jerk?

Every piece of work, no matter how good, has a load of utter gushery in the comments following.

I just got pulled over for driving drunk downtown after the NCAA tournament. I'm almost positive the reason I didn't get arrested is because I'm white and own three vehicles, I admitted to drinking too much in a vehicle I loaned to another employee. The cop told me if he saw me driving this vehicle again tonight, I'd be arrested so I went back to work and called my GF. Waiting for her now.

I have to design a 12" sleeve for a new record we (my music partner and I) are releasing soon. The release includes a remix by someone who has been a hero of mine for 30ish years. A big name in our 'scene' for want of a better way of putting it.

These are the hardest jobs. I have some ideas but I also feel like asking a designer friend less attached to do it. It's so hard doing your own stuff, it never feels good enough (for me anyway).

Not whining, this is positive whining 100% but how do you guys approach something so close to you? And something you are v.proud of, the artwork needs to do it justice.

    Hope I am making sense.

    • Yeah, ask someone else in/out of design. Stick printouts around the house, but not work on it-let it simmer. Hard deadlines are great motivators too. Good luck!bezoar

    Dear Diary,

I'm drowning in prototype / workflow / collaboration / wireframing apps.

Framer, webflow, sketch, invisionapp, gravit, blah blah.
    I'm old-school / just old.

The last design I did was in Photoshop 2 years ago, and then handed over to a developer.

None of these apps are local and do what I need it to actually do.

I've picked up Adobe XD and really like it. It's fast, simple, light, and they haven't bloated it yet.

    It won't export html/css....

I tried macaw.co and it seems bloaty code.

I want a simple non browser based app to design fast landing pages and microsites... that's it.

0-$100 one off fee is fine - I'm not paying $20 / month for a cloud based service- I don't always have internet.

    Please solution me-

    Otherwise going ok, thanks.

Just saw it posted and got to wondering if the data from the CP1919 pulsar emission graph (which Peter Saville inverted for the cover of Unknown Pleasures) is available somewhere online. So went searching for the astrophysicist who discovered it, Northern Irish scientist Jocelyn Bell Burnell who's occasionally used as a feminist martyr as she was overlooked when it came to awarding the Nobel prize for the discovery, which went to her PhD supervisor, even though she had struggled to convince them that the data was worth looking at...

Anyway, couldn't find the data... but stumbled across this Burnell themed, post-satirical, supposedly feminist fashion shoot which has my brain melted. Actually drove me to read an article on the same site about fashion, feminism, philosophy relating to their editorial style - it seems like it may genuine attempt to shoehorn feminism in to a photoshoot without relying on typical 'strong women' tropes typically used in fashion advertising... and this is what they come up with. Fashion people are fucking nuts.

Oh and PI is 3 ⅓ now.

"Our lives increasingly play out in virtual spaces: instead of going to malls, we surf on Amazon; many of us would happily forgo the mess of a party to stay home and flirt through an app. Listening to music, too, is now mostly frictionless, and this quality is why the little shadow world of music that Robert, allyson m., and others inhabit is so appealing to me. It’s nice to think of a handful of young people playing around on Ableton on their laptops, in their bedrooms, trying to reintroduce a sense of physical space into a listening environment of digital isolation: conjuring the sort of scenario in which, say, you’re down the hall from your older sibling who loves the Beach Boys, or in a place where, for a change, someone else controls the music—in a crowd, or at a mall, or in a pounding bathroom—someplace where you’ve taken the chance of being lonely in public, instead of retreating and clicking around alone."
