Jack Dorsey's First Tweet' NFT Went on Sale for $48M.
It Ended With a Top Bid of Just $280

- ha ha yes! That's how I was understanding it. I could understand if you were buying the copyright, or royalties for an image etc.shapesalad
- I was kinda thinking isn't the art, the jpg, just a wrapper, and inside is some ETH and that's where the value comes from?shapesalad
- but that's just my day dream thinking about it, not ready anything to indicate that.shapesalad
- *not readshapesalad
- no, the exist on the same blockchain but have no intrinsic value in eth and the only thing stored on the chain is a URI (which can contain metadata)kingsteven
- but the actual NFT is the JSON schema of the API response (usually just the mime type image URI field - intended as a representational thumbnail)kingsteven
- I've always said that an NFT is a receipt that proves you have bought a receipt.palimpsest
- Can an NFT be sold to multiple people? If so, it really is pointless. It’s just a donation with a middle man. Gross.monospaced
- No. Technically 1 NFT can be bought by multiple people but I don't think that's what you're asking.palimpsest
- @mono yes you can if the artist sells a collection and multiple artworks - think 1/10, 2/10, etc, grafician
- It's a collection of NFTs though. An NFT is unique. You are not buying the artwork. You are buying the NFT.palimpsest
- An NFT evangelist would say that the NFT is the art.palimpsest
- and i thought the oil industry are idiots... but now its digital artists and designers !...who what have thought they are as greedy as the oilmen.neverscared

- @palimpsest NO I mean THE SAME NFT https://www.hicetnun…
don't comment if you don't have a cluegrafician - "don't comment if you don't have a clue"
Glad we're on the same page.palimpsest - Imma slow it down for you:
An NFT
is a receipt
that proves you paid
for a receipt.palimpsest - Imma decode that for you:
An NFT may contain a reference to an "artwork" but you are not buying the "artwork" you are buying the NFT.palimpsest - Therefore several NFT may contain the same reference but each NFT is unique.
Again: You are paying for an NFT and you are getting an NFT.palimpsest - not when you sell editions buddy, chill
it's the same nft times 10 100 1000grafician - I'm chill, chief.
I'm colder than a vampire's demeanor.
Since I do have a clue let me walk you through.palimpsest - The answer is in the name:
Non-fungible token, it means it's unique and not interchangeable.palimpsest - Even IRL when you sell an edition of prints you are buying a unique print. Print 1/100 is not the same as print 99/100. They are not the same print.palimpsest
- Now hold on to your seat.
An NFT is not the image you see on the site. The answer is also in the name, it's a token. You are buying a token.palimpsest - ^ shut up fgsi_was

"Metakovan, the mystery Beeple art buyer, and his NFT/DeFi scheme"
https://amycastor.com/2021/03/14…
"The distribution is something to pay attention to. MetaKovan has 59% of all the B20 tokens. Why does he own the majority of tokens? As he explains it, that’s so that no one person can own 100% of all of the B20 tokens—and snatch up all this wonderful artwork for themselves.
What’s interesting is that Beeple, the creator of the artwork, is actually a business partner of MetaKovan’s. He owns 2% of all the B20 tokens. I’m sure there is no conflict of interest here."

Minted this random/generative piece on FXHASH today that I built over the weekend. Sold out in 2 hours. Insane! and did NOT expect that!
- I miss registration marks. Cool piece!!section_014
- I like those.Hayzilla
- which is the random/generative part or parts ? flash ?neverscared
- i mean what did u generate per code.?. did a lot actionscripting style stuff too back in the days of course..neverscared
- Its all actionscript based. It is built in Adobe Animate (formerly flash). I have 9 different linocut female faces cut into slices. The code chooses a slice andmicrokorg
- and positions it at a random position and angle at random times (all within constraints). At random times (within constraints) the CMY circles change sizemicrokorg
- and position. I'm no coder, it pretty simple actionscripting I wrote myself. I used to use Flash 20+ years ago when I started my career.microkorg
- Then publish as HTML5. Download template from fxhash and insert the HTML output, js etc from Animate into it.microkorg
- The thumbs in the collection are generated by fxhash 2 seconds after start of piece so will grab a unique composition made up of start positions of everythingmicrokorg

- Great work micro, brilliant. We’re these sold as a group or individually? What was the price for each, I couldn’t see it_niko

- and thanks ! :)microkorg
- If anyone is into creative coding like this I thoroughly recommend getting on the fxhash site and creating works. Its on Tezos chain so is a 'green' currency.microkorg

Sorry for my ignorance and somebody please explain this to me:
Why would people buy gifs and jpg's for so much money when it's already being displayed online and you can basically just download it by right-click-save?
Once bought, what exactly do you do with the piece?
Somebody purchased a shitty image of a rose (just my opinion for $1M, wtf. What exactly do you do with the image when it's officially yours?
Do people have too much money? Or is it mostly people who already profited a lot with crypto so they don't care throwing money out of the window?
I can understand supporting an artist but paying thousands or hundred thousands and even millions for digital images & gifs seems some of the most stupid shit I've seen in recent times.
- My understanding is that they are "investing" in it. What do you do with image? Sell it for a higher price.palimpsest

So I was just at the pub meeting an old friend who's done well out of crypto et al.
Made, as best as I can work out from between the lines, $150k from bored ape NFTs alone. His last tax return hints that this was but the top bit of the iceberg.

Getting into the NFT marketplace has been a great experience thanks to its loving community. I have learnt a lot in the last 24-hours. One of the keys to being an artist is repurposing old projects: The NFT is the art.
I have dug into my archive and pulled out this old chunk of coal. From it I have created an edition of 6 digital pins that never saw the light of day in physical form.

- What does 10% rarity mean? I thought they all were uniquedrgs
- They are all unique. The rarity comes from the combined scarcity of each feature. For instance, in the pool of 1500, the hat, clothing. colour, expression etc..Morning_star
- ...combine at different frequencies. There may be only 2% with that top, 15% with that hat etc, this combines to give an overall rarity value. There's a ...Morning_star
