    • ha ha yes! That's how I was understanding it. I could understand if you were buying the copyright, or royalties for an image etc.shapesalad
    • I was kinda thinking isn't the art, the jpg, just a wrapper, and inside is some ETH and that's where the value comes from?shapesalad
    • but that's just my day dream thinking about it, not ready anything to indicate that.shapesalad
    • *not readshapesalad
    • no, the exist on the same blockchain but have no intrinsic value in eth and the only thing stored on the chain is a URI (which can contain metadata)kingsteven
    • but the actual NFT is the JSON schema of the API response (usually just the mime type image URI field - intended as a representational thumbnail)kingsteven
    • I've always said that an NFT is a receipt that proves you have bought a receipt.palimpsest
    • Can an NFT be sold to multiple people? If so, it really is pointless. It’s just a donation with a middle man. Gross.monospaced
    • No. Technically 1 NFT can be bought by multiple people but I don't think that's what you're asking.palimpsest
    • @mono yes you can if the artist sells a collection and multiple artworks - think 1/10, 2/10, etc, grafician
    • It's a collection of NFTs though. An NFT is unique. You are not buying the artwork. You are buying the NFT.palimpsest
    • An NFT evangelist would say that the NFT is the art.palimpsest
    • and i thought the oil industry are idiots... but now its digital artists and designers !...who what have thought they are as greedy as the oilmen.neverscared
    • now we little designers will be blamed only coz the suckers with lots of twitter followers cant control their impulse becoming rich by fucking the environment.neverscared
    • @palimpsest NO I mean THE SAME NFT https://www.hicetnun…

don't comment if you don't have a clue
      grafician
    • "don't comment if you don't have a clue"
Glad we're on the same page.

    • Imma slow it down for you:
      An NFT
      is a receipt
      that proves you paid
      for a receipt.
      palimpsest
    • Imma decode that for you:
An NFT may contain a reference to an "artwork" but you are not buying the "artwork" you are buying the NFT.
      palimpsest
    • Therefore several NFT may contain the same reference but each NFT is unique.
Again: You are paying for an NFT and you are getting an NFT.
      palimpsest
    • not when you sell editions buddy, chill
      it's the same nft times 10 100 1000
      grafician
    • I'm chill, chief.
      I'm colder than a vampire's demeanor.
Since I do have a clue let me walk you through.
      palimpsest
    • The answer is in the name:
Non-fungible token, it means it's unique and not interchangeable.
      palimpsest
    • Even IRL when you sell an edition of prints you are buying a unique print. Print 1/100 is not the same as print 99/100. They are not the same print.palimpsest
    • Now hold on to your seat.
An NFT is not the image you see on the site. The answer is also in the name, it's a token. You are buying a token.
