I'm going to need to read Dune Messiah now, aren't I?
I think I have them all up to God Emperor, so... aiieee.
- I love the idea of it being titled, 'God Emperor of DUNC'.Continuity

Just got back from watching part 2.
It looks and sounds incredible and gets weird. It does change some things up from the source that I thought were intrinsic to character motives. I'm not sure they worked.
Geidi Prime looks incredible, feels like they have taken some influence from Geigers old concept art and incorporate brutalist elements.
We're totally getting Messiah.
- nice got my tix for Tues night, excitedprophetone
- See it on a big a screen with the best sound possible toothumb_screws

*swoon*ideaist - I'll have to give this a second look, now that you mentioned his unkept locks of love.utopian
- I wore this "look" in my art school days and was oft described as "greasy", which I was.
Also HIGH AF! "D's get degrees" @ Art/Design "school"!

- I could not make it through the first one w/o falling asleep.fooler
- Maybe you’d enjoy a movie more suited for you, like Ready Player One or John Wick. No thinking required and lots of shooty bang bang punching.monospaced
- I felt like the first one was so good I couldn’t even blink or look away. Quite a masterpiece in every sense and not a slow or boring second.monospaced
- No doubt this will be just as good and lock down its position again as another stellar film sure to please and excite people who enjoy quality film making.monospaced
- Villeneuve can do no wrong.ideaist

- fuck, did I miss the release in march?Ianbolton
- lol, never do dots in the date with releases. It confuses those over the pond.garbage
- But also no list, no splash to the E on the title, and no characters. Drop the subtext to where they shouldn't be.garbage
- Whoever made this poster doesn't get that Arrakis is the main character, don't shit it up.garbage
- Paul is the messiah. Makes perfect sense. To me at least.monospaced
- I'll just go full spoilers and save you from reading the canon books: Paul as Muad'Dib is a false messiah, being manipulated by a cult of witches.garbage
- He was actually supposed to be born a girl, so that the could be bred to the Harkonnens, but Jessica willed him to be a boy.garbage
- So the witches used him to form a cult, and in the middle of it all he let himself get killed, which is pretty Christlike.garbage
- But he's more of a pawn, more of a mistake than a messiah.garbage
- fooking prawns.Nairn
- ^ lol, when are we getting District 10? Answer: never.garbage
- I did read the book. A couple of tile. He was also prophesied and fulfilled it regardless of being a pawn.monospaced
- Maybe read it another tile. He was foisted as a false prophet, and they pushed him as far as he could go. He was literally a false messiah, hence the title.garbage
- A messiah saves people. Paul was responsible for galactic jihad and the deaths of billions at the behest of the Bene Gesserit.garbage
- I think they will probably gloss over that. In the trailer Chani calls him "Paul Atreides", and not "Usul".garbage
- But Paul was 100% a pawn.garbage

The last three to six months of the movie was done on Zoom, and this whole sequence was done digitally. Every single character. It's all composed in one big shot. That was the last task, and it was a real head-scratcher. But it was brilliant. It worked really well. In fact, one of my friends was, like, “Oh, I thought that was all acted on the stage.” And I'm like, well, I've done my job okay then.
DNEG animation director Robyn Luckham discusses his work on Denis Villeneuve’s masterful epic adaptation of the Frank Herbert sci-fi classic
- That scene is totally believable until Paul's visor comes up and you can see his face. It didn't look bad on big screen but rewatching at home it's noticeable.thumb_screws
- After a re-watch I love this movie even more.thumb_screws
- it looked in the trailer already llike sfx. but badly done ..neverscared
- yeah those few moments look like he is in a zoom meeting :D but hey, the rest is awesome, isn't?:)sted
- the only part of the movie that looked fakehotroddy
- These types of scenes never 'feel' real. It's all too perfectly choreographed, too fast. Need to watch again.formed

I finally got around to watching Dune...I was pleasantly surprised how much that I enjoyed it. I couldn't believe that the movie was 2.5 hours long, it went by quick.
- I haven't seen it yet but loved the books. My wife hates SciFi so need a few hours spare to watch on my lonesomesausages
- @sausages sell it as a period drama in space. That's how i got my partner to watch it with me.thumb_screws
