My son is now nearly 11 months old, and every day he amazes and humbles me. He is teaching me patience and compassion, and helping me relearn the joys of being a child. I look into his eyes and I can see myself, and I can also see his mother. He's developing a strong sense of humor, and he is starting to speak to us, even though it's still complete gibberish. It's hard to put into words how. proud I am of how he's growing up, and who he's turning into. He's such a joyous, loving little guy.
He loves to pull himself up to standing on anything he can reach, cruise around and throw everything on the ground. He also loves his books, which I arranged by color the other day. This face, it is everything to me.
- I miss those days. Kids change you for the better, for sure.aslip
- he's so proud of his books! awesomehotroddy
- Nice post!stoplying
- Every day at that age you get to see them learn something new. Seeing their wonder and enthusiasm really helps dull the cynicism for a while. :-)PhanLo

Got an onine update from my daughters nursery. She's 1.5yrs.
Said she noticed one of her friends didnt have her shoes on. So she asked one of the other friends to pass the shoes to her and my daughter helped the other girl by putting her shoes on her.
Brought a tear to my eye. VERY proud dad :)

My daughter is currently doing Year 11 at school...she's a bit of a quiet achiever. She just texted me to say she had won two academic prizes...Sociology and Legal Studies for her entire cohort. Awards are handed out at the school presentation night in a couple of weeks!

Curious about the rest of you: What's the 1-2 things with your kids that really max out your emotions in a positive or heartfelt way?
My daughter will be 4 in January, and every once in a while while talking to her watching her do things, I get these moments where I'm like "wow... you are definitely growing up... what you just did or thought for the first time won't happen ever again." It's very heartwarming and amazing while also being kind of a downer if you focus too much on it.
Then my son, who turned 15 months old yesterday, is walking, but not talking yet, and it's cool to think of all the fun interactions and moments with my daughter that we will get to have all over again with him in the next couple years. My wife and I are so happy and excited to see them forming a bond together; it's just such a happy thing to look forward to them being each other's best friends in a way that only a brother and sister can be. :)
- I have a 4 year old boy and a 6 week old boy.
You're gaining perspective from both of them.
For me, it's the family playing outside on a sunny day...ideaist - ...Everyone is playing independently, BUT as a family. Their is no lecturing, yelling, etc. etc. etc.
It's 1 family playing.ideaist - My oldest girl just turned 5 and her vocabulary is giving me a double take.
She already has quips for situations.BonSeff - She also has a super special needs cousin she spends a lot of time with, patiently. And creates games to entertain. It makes me so proud.BonSeff
- That special smile he gives me when he sees me after I get home from work, or when he first wakes up. He's 9 months now and really coming online :)monospaced

My son is 7 months old today. He's taken a cross country trip to California already and has his first two teeth. He's feeling more and more like a littler person and less like a baby, now that he's engaging with us and there's some true back and forth going on. He prefers to try standing vs sitting up, and is already crawling. His favorite food is avocado, and he enjoys long strolls through the city.
- Handsome lad, mono.BonSeff
- Gets even better. My son is almost 5 and we're homies, do all kinds of cool activities together without Mom.davey_g

While giving my 3 1/2 year old daughter a bath last night, I silently farted and within about five seconds she wrinkles her nose and says "yucky, it smells like Brussels sprouts in here."

My daughter is almost 3 1/2 and this morning she said what might be the coolest random thing she ever said. I was making her breakfast in the kitchen, and she looks at me and closes her eyes and says "when I close my eyes I can see all my memories from school. All the memories in my brain."
