"'If you hear your food screaming when it get slaughtered you surely be vegetarian"
Maybe if you grew up in a condo and have never interacted with the food you eat. Killing animals is actually quite cathartic, and a far more spiritual pursuit then veganism could ever be.
Rebelling against one's own evolutionary process is a curious sight to behold. The most fascinating bit is how breast milk throws a wrench into the machinery of vegan philosophy.
Most vegans I've met are fanatics who've let their politics dictate their diet, that said, more power to them as long as they don't show up to my BBQs and complain about the menu.

The amount of simplistic responses in this threat shows how under educated people are about nutrition. So, let me help.
We eat for two reasons:
a.) provide fuel for our body
b.) provide pleasureYou cut out one of the above and you are risking failing. The food fuel is made up of many, many ingredients thus it NEEDS to vary greatly. The dumb fuck who eats meat all the time will get sick as easily as the dumb fuck who eats lettuce. Why? Because both provide only small fraction of the VARIETY that the body requires. Thus it's imperative to vary your food greatly.
Pretty much every diet talks about the health benefits but barely any diet speaks about the pleasure of eating. You NEED to get pleasure from the activity of intaking food or you will get tired or bored of thinking about food rather then simply enjoying it. Thus you need to change your food philosophy. Don't think that you are on diet to loose weight, but rather be on the diet because the shit simply tastes so good. Which brings me to my last point, people really have to up their food standards. Majority of people haven't tasted a good salad, a good soup, hell even a good steak and thus they sustain themselves with awfully tasting (but healthy, they are told) meals that give them no pleasure and thus at any moment they are prone to go back to their old habits.
- actually you can get everything the body requires from non-animal sources. fact.scarabin

WTFF DUDE
- he's got a point, scarabin, and I hoped you would see itmonospaced
- this world has had enough killing in the name of "spiritual pursuit"scarabin
- NOT killing animals is actually quite cathartic, and a far more spiritual pursuit that killing could ever bescarabin
- and none of you are actually killing your food so the point is invalid. you're just lazily eating what's fed to you because you were taught to like itscarabin

I've only accidently killed animals..... it wasn't cathartic nor spiritual, well.. maybe I thought I was about to die as I hit some poor creature while driving down a country road in the dark in the Tennessee mountains.... really was not fun....

Scarabin,
If you think killing animals is psychopathic, then I pray to the vegan gods you've never tasted the flesh of one. And, if hunting and fishing is "psychopathic" then what about farming them and processing them through machines? what psychological pejorative even begins to describe that?
People have killed animals since we crawled out of the evolutionary muck, there's nothing "bad" about it, it's how we've survived and thrived.

... what about ritual sacrifices?
People used to kill animals for purely spiritual/religious reasons.
I am not saying I condone it, but it's kind of an old practice, isn't it?

Vegan since new year - feel a lot lighter, taking care to plan proper meals - been awesome eating.
- moldero0
quit smoking for the new year, had to keep heavy food in the stomach to help fight the nicotine cravings when i got hungry so i started eating meat again (normally just eat fish with occasional chicken)
I must say, i felt better health/energy wise smoking and not eating meat than I do now, not smoking but eating meat. hoping these cravings will pass soon.notice how the brain is smiling?

Whenever there's any conversation about vegetarianism or veganism, someone always - always pipes in with 'Meat ! - l love eating meat !!", like we've never heard of it, or it's going to change the conversation in anyway, or contribute anything to what's being said. It doesn't - it makes you look as if you're about 12, and have walked in on an adult conversation and think for some reason we care about what you've got say.
We don't.
Go clean your room.- PS - You're a dick.mikotondria3
- Despite joining in with design-related threads and having reasonable, relevant input - you're still a dick.mikotondria3

My wife woke up one day recently and said 'I am now a vegan' - after she read 'The China Study'* so I adapted and have been cooking vegan at home.
I don't really miss meat but cheese is hard. That being said - you can make some really tasty food - you just have to look at different cookbooks and shop in different stores.
When I am not at home I do not adhere to veganism - I eat what I want.
But in general I think the world would be a better place if we stopped spending so many of our resources making meat.
*Chinese people who eat basically vegetables and a little fish are super healthy
- The China Study is very flawed, but if you're eating better, then that's reason itself. Similar story with me, mate, and my wife.mikotondria3

Meat is tasty, that is clear, but in the mean time humans are no carnivores, we are omnivores.
If you look back in time early humans where not eating meat on a daily basis.
We need to be more careful for reasons,
1: Health: red meat everyday is not good and especially after 40.
2: Animal rights,regarding production
3: Over production,poor quality meat.
4: Environment : Do you know how much water is needed to make a steak. Forest are cut down to create farm fields, wich is killing the soil.....etc.....
the list goes on and on , and on......Just to say that like for everything in this world, it's a matter of balance.
It's time to think about what we do and the impact that we have on our environment.Did you noticed that we are the only creature on this planet that hasn't adapted to his environment. We go straight on the opposite direction.
