Who here is a Vegan?
I'm thinking of switching over.
How do you like it?

Is the trailer true?

Forks over Knives makes a cogent argument. But, as suggested above, works for some and not for all.
Me: I'm not sure I could personally forsake things like Alfredo sauce and ice cream.

People have been eating meat for a long time. I'm guessing the rise of all the illnesses is from the chemicals and meat making processes.

Eat whatever you want.
End of discussion.
- No one was saying otherwise. I think I WANT to switch.********

A glass of red wine a day cures everything.

so you're telling me, they're made of delicious meat for nothing?
- pinkfloyd0
I'm no expert, but I think a balance of organic meats and vegetables in decent proportions is fair.

two of my good friends are vegan. one of them eats really well and gets all he needs, the other is a "junk food vegan" who gets sick a lot, and usually looks slightly pale, and has constant bags under his eyes.
I think eating the right meat in the right proportions is totally healthy. but if you live in a good city with a vegan culture (I'm in LA) then it's probably not so difficult to do with a fair amount of discipline.
Also, no way in hell am I watching that trailer :)

The biggest problem when becoming a Vegan from what I've heard is telling your parents you're gay.

milkshakes? coffee? chocolate bars? croissants? garlic bread? a proper cup of tea? omelettes? vegetarian lasagne?
and you'll fart all the time.

honestly, the protein thing is really overblown. you only really need like 35 grams of protein a day and you get that from everywhere

My brother has been trying to get me to watch Forks Over Knives. He was on a path toward being vegetarian (nutrition classes, fast food nation etc), but after that particular movie he made the full on switch to being vegan. I enjoy meat as part of a balanced diet with plenty of vegetables in the mix, but after watching that trailer, i think i'll definitely watch the movie and go from there.

I did a 7-day juice cleanse a few weeks ago. Lots of nutrients, a reset for my diet, and helps get rid of addictions such as coffee or alcohol.
