I was vegan for 11 years. Still am (and will probably always be) vegetarian. I never experienced any health issues, and actually had great physical results last time I saw a Doctor. (low cholesterol, etc.)
I say go for it if you're considering it. It's actually much easier to do than you would think. I stopped simply because I decided I wanted to start eating cheese and eggs again. Wasn't following a rule book or anything. The day I deiced to eat a cheese pizza after 11 years, I just did it. :)I still eat a lot of vegan meals.

Im wondering how many vegans here run, bike swim climb and do strenuous activity what their recovery time is being on such a diet that burns calories quite fast and low fat. The most remarkable thing is that we have the ability to eat synthetic proteins and calories so we don't have to hunt for meat and stock up on fat. We can eat at leisure which is quite amazing. We are the only species that grows either animal and non-animal material for consumption.

Christ, if this were the 1970's or 80's, I'd be a fucking vegetarian.

I'm not vegan but a few of my buddies are. I eat vegan with them frequently. It's delicious and actually not too hard to eat vegan. One guy is pretty active, and keeps up his protein levels while working out and doing martial arts. Suits him fine. I just can't give up milk, eggs, or poultry so won't be picking up the lifestyle anytime soon :)

I think everyone is entitled to make their own choices when it comes to food, what I dislike is when people start preaching about it, and try to convince everyone that you should follow their steps because it's the right thing to do.
Very much like a born again or someone that just quit smoking, this kind of behavior is mostly present with people that have been doing it for less than 10 months though.

I'm a recent vegetarian (vegan is masochism)...
Lots of eggs, cheese, etc...
I run, bike & live a generally active lifestyle and the diet is an excellent extension of that, but you need to be aware of what you are (& more importantly what you are not) eating in order to maintain peak health & performance.
Their are so many meat alternatives today relative to 20-30 years ago so it is quite easy to do if you can give up your steaks, beef burgers and such; you truly rekindle a love of vegetables that you never thought possible...
- I've adopted virtually the same diet and plan and I feel much better. Occasional shrimp and fish, I have to do however********
- and totally, 30 year ago, no fucking way, I could have been, with today's immigrant class, Indian / Thai / Japanese********
- it also makes it much easier. Paneer / veggie stir fry, etc. all work well for me, as long as there's curry in it********
- Curry in a hurry buddy... ; )ideaist
- I was vegetarian for 22 years, then stopped with the eggs and dairy. It's actually really easy, and I feel much better for it.mikotondria3
- I was (and still am a recovering) cheese addict. Fuck me, I loved cheese. I ate too much, and got fat. Fucking cheese. You bitch.mikotondria3
- You lovely, yellow, bitch.mikotondria3
- LOL heheh********

Who is the oldest vegan?
I will switch if I can live to be over 110.
My point is that no one can answer my question. So it's isn't more healthy, is it?
- Lower bmi, lower cholestrol, vegans score better on all health indices, even if there's no evidence they live longer.mikotondria3
- Which they do.mikotondria3
- got any source?GeorgesII
- No : /mikotondria3
- I have since discovered that veganism alone does not assist in longevity. I retract my earlier claim, like a gentleman.mikotondria3
- I would be vegan if it did though.Frosty_spl
- I'm not sure I want to live past 80 my friend, especially in this society. It's fake.********
- If it appeals to you, do it.
I'm trying it for a month, I actually feel much better. I'd recommend it, honestly I would.mikotondria3

was talking with my vegetarian friend this morning about a author that I've never heard before whom was known for his vegetarianism, I was curious and went on his wikipedia page,
read it then stopped and asked my friend do you know what he died from, he said yes,
then out of the blue he says steve jobs was a vegetarian too,
I replied, do you know what steve jobs died from? then the discussion ended there..
