i dig the movie bruce almighty... morgan freeman as god is pitch perfect imo.
its a little heavy on the religious theme for some (i beleive there is something bigger than us all, though im not sure what), but there are some interesting theology concepts in it. plus some of it is pretty funny. like steve carell's teleprompter incident

"It's all crap, if you think every animal on the planet was represented on a big boat, you are a loon. If you think that we all came from one man and one woman, you are a loon."
Christians who know their Bible, do not believe that "every animal on the planet was represented on a big boat". More strawman tactics from you (why should today be any different?). And, instead of being a coward, why don't you state where "we all" ultimately came from? Expound upon your belief here.

the bible is not supposed to be taken literally, people that do are obviously backward, ignorant, inbred hillbillies (see westboro baptist church) it is a collection of stories and parables passed down through the ages assembled from different cultures and translated through so many languages its not even funny. even IF it were the word of god, the main sticking point should be (as it is a common theme in most religions) treat others how you would like to be treated
golden rule is basically what all religions boil down to, everything else is personal and individual belief, or at least should be treated that way
- this is my opinion...********
- They most definitely do not all boil down to the golden rule.gramme

734: Westboro Baptist Church is an internet cult. It is telling that you would conflate them with anyone who believes the Bible. Frightening really. The Bible is a collection of poetic, apocolyptic and historical narrative writings. There are parts to be taken literally and others to be understood as poetry, etc... It depends on which part of the Bible you are talking about. However, we Christians believe that it is all inspiried by God and that he guided the writing of all of it's books. Don't confused preservation with inspiration, however. Many people make that mistake and come up with all manner of assumptions about what Christians allegedly believe.
But the main sticking point is that the Bible all points to one central theme, from Genesis to Revelation: Redemption in Christ alone. It is the unifying theme of the whole of scripture.

Westboro Baptist Church is an internet cult. Don't conflate obscure hate-cults with what actual Christians believe. And the Bible is to be taken literally where it is SUPPOSED to be taken literally. Evidently you aren't aware of Biblical hermeneutics and how to approach the reading of the Bible. It is composed of poetry, apocolyptic, prophetic and historical narritive literature. But we Christians believe it all is "inspired" by God. Meaning that he guided the men who originally wrote the books which compose the canon of scripture.
The central theme of the Bible from beginning to end is redemption in Christ alone. It is the unifying theme from Genesis to Revelation.

"if you like the parables of the bible and use it as a guide in your life, then you are ok in my book. just don't vote on it. :D "
I will vote on my Bible-based belief that all humans have dignity and a soul and are part of a greater purpose. I will vote on my Bible-based belief that truth is absolute with an objective standard to measure against. I will vote on my Bible-based belief that this world is on a trajectory which is not going to be changed by any human political party or ideologue.
- then why vote?mrdobolina

"Many people make that mistake and come up with all manner of assumptions about what Christians allegedly believe."
Dude, c'mon, even Christians come up with all sorts of assumptions about what they believe. I was raised Roman Catholic (hence retired) and I was called a "heretic devil worshipper" by some crazed baptist at one time. Europe spent a few centuries burning and killing each other over how to define christianity and they only paused to go and kill some other biblical offshoots, those pesky muslims. And lord knows if Mormons are christians or not. When you come on here and get all preachy and then people throw up the names of very prominent christian people in american public life you say "Gee, never heard of them..." yet they're on CNN, and then you go and say "Well, I don't believe what they do..." and now you say people make "assumptions about what Christians allegedly believe"
I'm convinced christianity is whatever people need it to be, what ever gives them some sort of ego stroke to get through their dreary lives, like all religions.

To each his own, blueOne. Regardless of what sinful humans choose to do in the name of religion or Christianity, the Bible remains constant in it's clear proclamation of the gospel and what it means to be a Christian...
John 14:6
