Westboro Baptist Church is an internet cult. Don't conflate obscure hate-cults with what actual Christians believe. And the Bible is to be taken literally where it is SUPPOSED to be taken literally. Evidently you aren't aware of Biblical hermeneutics and how to approach the reading of the Bible. It is composed of poetry, apocolyptic, prophetic and historical narritive literature. But we Christians believe it all is "inspired" by God. Meaning that he guided the men who originally wrote the books which compose the canon of scripture.
The central theme of the Bible from beginning to end is redemption in Christ alone. It is the unifying theme from Genesis to Revelation.
