I went to see the new Mission Impossible film yesterday. It was ridiculous - but i guess that's the point yeah?

    • Don’t think I could bring myself to watch a Tambo Cruise movie anymore.PhanLo

I picked up 3 x old wooden boxes for storing 7" today for £25!

One will be just for keeping spare company sleeves.

The brother of a friend of my youngest daughter (it sounds like a soap opera) just entered a seminary to become a priest.

I was surprised, but the idea amused me.

By saying Mass once in a while, I wouldn't have to worry about anything else. Locked up in my chambers, I could spend the day drawing until the end of my days. I wouldn't have to worry about money, my family, and my career.

God, and I'd give incredible sermons.

Too bad, a lost vocation, brothers ;)

I lost consciousness again this morning. :/

I woke up around 7:30am feeling fine — I didn't get out of bed / go vertical... opted to get a couple extra mins sleep and reset my alarm for 8am.

Alarm went off @8... I attempted to go vertical and found myself dizzy AF w/a ridiculously pounding headache — specifically the left side of my head / ear.

I'm not sure when the following stuff occurred but everything was fine / still in place when my wife left to work this morning so somewhere between 6:30am and 7:30am I awoke and fucked up my head (and our apartment)... and I don't remember A THING. :/

    • I found my glasses in my office — bent to hell and on the floor (just like the last time I lost consciousness).
    • All the shit I leave by the side of my bed at night was missing (glasses, headphones, phone etc).
    • I wobbled my way into my kitchen (so dizzy) and found the keyboard from my computer sitting next to the kitchen sink (wtf?).
    • I found 3 cans of ice tea open and sitting on the floor - one of them spilled all over the kitchen floor.
    • There are two bags of garbage that were tied up / sitting by the front door last night to go out this morning: they're both open and garbage all over the place.
    • The kitchen table is absolutely trashed (most items that were on it are on the floor or knocked over)
    • And — I CANNOT FIND A SPECIFIC PAIR OF MY SHOES... they've just disappeared.

I didn't look in a mirror for a good 30 mins after getting up... I haven't shared my mug in some time — this is what my ear looks like this morning (no fucking clue what I did):

    • Do you have a carbon monoxide detector? Been diagnosed with cardiac arrhythmia?i_monk
    • Yep - we have a brand new carbon monoxide detector. As far as cardiac stuff: I had a heart attack in my early 30's followed by aortic valve replacement...PonyBoy
    • ... I was born w/a shitty aortic valve that just gave out on me. I'm on blood thinners now for life as I have mechanical (manmade) valve now.PonyBoy
    • so weird... just found all the missing items (shoes, headphones etc) in a fucking sleeping bag on my porchPonyBoy
    • Seek immediate medical help!grafician
    • My god, Kevin! Hope you're well now brother... I have no knowledge of cardiac issues, but could it be due to fatigue?OBBTKN
    • Are you sleeping well? Your headaches are recurring. Have you had your cerebral circulation checked?OBBTKN
    • Uffff... I don't know... take care. If anything, you can reach me. Hugs!OBBTKN

Friendship is the funniest LOL in the theater movie I think I've ever seen.

Saw it last night and had tears in my eyes at multiple moments. So much cringe-humor, uncomfortable moments, etc.

    GO SEE IT

Ok, it was hot today, but it's the first time I've seen so many women, very scantily clad (and in really good shape), strolling while I was on my bike ride...

Tinder is dead, afternoon jogging is a hit!!

    • I'm already off the market, but in my day, dating here was almost a risky sport... I hope for the sake of the young people that it has changed!OBBTKN

    Car rant:

On the one hand, I'm delighted to have replaced the clutch on my old Fiat (even though it cost a fortune) because I've extended its life for a few more years...

But on the other hand, for when it's time to retire it, the current situation in the car market is terrible. There are few reliable "cheap, European-made" electric or hybrid cars. I'm seeing tests that are frightening!

The only alternative seems to be Japanese cars, but they're expensive af, even second-hand.

Now I understand my retired hippie friends on their 40-year-old german, italian or french diesels.

    • 25-30 years ago we'd easily swap out a starter, clutch etc on anything from a Jetta to a Celica in a matter of minutes DYI... I miss those days :(PonyBoy
    • Many of the Japanese makes are unreliable now too. Especially Nissan and to a lesser degree Honda. Toyota Prius is probably a safe bet.monNom

Two of my closest friends were diagnosed with the big C. One Leukemia and one Stage 4 colon C. It's emotional.

Got fed up with my basement WiFi speeds despite upgrading to Google WiFi 6E a in May. Tested out some CAT6 cable to try and run the basement mesh point in backhaul mode, ran it through my living room, down the stairs to test it out.

It worked like a charm. Close to 600mb a second speeds just like I get in the main router connected to my modem upstairs. Satisfied, I drilled a small hole in the floor behind the living room entertainment center, ran it through the crawl space, and bingo, my days of slow speeds, lagging meetings, and other annoyances are over. I wish I'd done this sooner but wasn't sure how hard it would be to go through the floor.

sadly there was a mass shooting in a school in the city where i am with 10 deaths, the first one around here .. i guess in the whole country..... the shooter whacked himself too...

now there is a bloke in the wider region around the city with the same name as the shooter... and people are harrassing him...posting pics of him..calling him up to kill him, although completely not attachement to the case except the name...

folks are so flipping retarded its mindblowing--

Saw someone on the street looking down at their phone, clearly trying to find their bearings on a map, so I go "Hey, what are you looking for?" because this place is like a maze and there are always people lost. He says a local train station — so I take stock of the situation and suggest he go a slightly longer, but much simpler route taking in a nice canal walk, rather than the one he was on, which is a bit shorter, but with loads of turns.

He's happy with that, and I'm happy to have done something for someone else. Yaay, society!

Except I've just realised now that I've come back in and sat in front of my computer that I entirely misunderstood which station he was going to, so sent him the completely wrong way.

Oh well, I hope he has a nice walk before he realises, at least.

    • It's like 50°C out there today too.
He's going to be so pissed.

This past Thursday I was flying to Chicago for a shoot and the DP that I travel with is a very frequent flyer, so he has anytime access to the United Club lounge - plus guests (me).
We walk into a packed lounge with very limited seats and manage to find a few open spots. I set my stuff down and am sitting directly across from Plug 1 aka Posdnuos aka Kelvin Mercer of De La Soul fame. He's just by himself, headphones on, minding his business. I've been a very big De La fan since their early days and I was almost a little starstruck. I'm like 5 feet across from Pos, but am having a chat with my friend trying to focus on our conversation. After about 30 minutes, we get up to board our flight I approach Pos and give him a fist bump telling him how great of an emcee he is and how much I appreciate their music. He's super kind, receptive, and soft-spoken and agrees to take a photo with me. I've been on a huge De La kick since Thursday. Oodles and Oodles of Os ya know!
